While im not a mechanic, i do sell tools as my part time job. We always have mechanics coming in to buy their own tools for working at garages. Most shops only offer air to their mechanics. As for the disposal fees... Im gonna guess its just another way to pad their collective wallets at dealers. Im also not sure but i think most shops have to pay fees and taxes for handling hazardous waste...

I used to use the silverstars, but i only got 8 months out of the bulbs because the life is only 150 hours, and 35 bucks a pair is kinda pricey. The problem is compounded by the fact that the low-beam is on all the time because of the daytime running lights. Nevertheless it was substantially brighter at night!

I had a noticeable squeal from my rear disc. Turns out one of the pad was jammed and it was worn out. I replaced the rear pads with cheapo wearever silver pads from Advance Auto (they were the only ones available that day). They squealed for about 2000 miles off and on, and they are working fine now with minimal squeal. In short; suggestion would be cheap pads on stock or older rotors...

My 01 legacy runs fine on 87, and will only struggle when its cold (below 20 F). I guess im fortunate enough to not have that bad of carbon problems, although i only have 36,000 on the car. Believe it or not, my car ran terrible on 94 octane, and ive sworn off anything higher than 89. According to everyone on here the seafoam stuff is great, so i third the notion.

As far as dealers go, stohlman (sp?) in Tysons i heard is decent. I saw a few places in Falls Church that say they specialize in Jap. cars including subes, but i dunno much about them. Ive been taking mine for warranty work to Dulles motorcars in Leesburg, they do decent work, but that might be too far for you.

Yeah i know what you mean with the clutch squeak. Mine has been doing it for about a year, and i havent gotten around to messing with it. I too would be interested in solutions to that annoyance. Speaking of clutches, im about to schedule an appt with the dealer to fix the infamous "cold clutch shudder" problem. Wish me luck!

recently i have heard a pulsating noise from the rear passenger side wheel. Upon closer testing while i was driving i determined the noise was only present under braking. The pulsating became faster at higher speeds, but there is no odd brake pedal feel. Im gonna take the wheel off tomorrow morning to see if i can get a visual on the problem... if anyone has any suggestions or comments about this problem i would love to know

This is my first posting! Anyway, i was looking into upgrading my system, when i noticed on the rear deck there are 2 grey plates covering what seems to be places for speakers, you can see them if you pop the trunk and look up at the rear deck from inside the trunk. I guess you would need to know that it is a 01 legacy L sedan. If anyone can help me i would love to know what size speaker fits in those 2 spots. Thanks, Andy
