  1. What do I need to look for to go from a 4 speed to 5 speed in my '83 GL. Does it just bolt in? Sorry for the thread hijack.
  2. I think its time for an engine rebuild. My EA81 runs on 3. It has spark to the plug and the plug looks fine. Im going to do a compression test tomorrow. Anyways, are these things easy to rebuild? Im thinking new rings, maybe bearings. Might lap the valves in, what all do these engines need? Its in a '83 gl wagon with a 4" lift and 28" swampers. Also thinking about a 5 speed swap, but i think the 4 speed would be fine if all 4 were firing.
  3. My dad has a 924s. Make sure you do mainainence. His timing belt broke and F'd the engine. Was super fast and fun though.
  4. Welcome aboard. Post up some pics of the brat. We like pictures!
  5. Welcome aboard. Lots of subaru guys in this area. You have a PM!
  6. Might be interested. Let me know.... I'll bring my xt6.
  7. I'll see if im busy that day or not. Might have to drive the xt6 down there.
  8. seeing as this is my first subaru, i didnt even know it wasn't factory. It sure looks like its made to go there. Neat.
  9. The antenna is not hooked up right now. I want to find a way to get it to retract. I dont have a radio in there right now.
  10. Wow, i went and looked at a perfectly fine looking connector, and when i pulled it off, it broke into 3 pieces. The inside of the connector was all green and corroded. When i tried cleaning it out(because its my daily car, and i need to drive it today) it just broke it more, so i just put two small crimp type spade connectors on the wires, and plugged them in. It runs a lot better now, it starts easier, and it runs smoother. It still has a slight misfire every once in a while, but i think thats due to a sparkplug grounding out somwhere(i can see spark on the outside of the plug). Thanks for the suggestion. You were right.
  11. The airbag setup it has right now is fine. I was taling about the axles when i said i'll take them off the other xt.
  12. Sorry i didnt answer you. I beleive they are the original airbags, but the pump and stuff was removed. It has valve stem type fittings in the engine compartment and the trunk to raise and lower the car. The reason its so far up is because the cv's were clicking when it was lower. I might have to go take them off the xt at the local partsyard here.
  13. Thanks. I picked it up pretty cheap, and I'm slowly fixing the problems I found. Tomorrow I'm going to check for engine codes. The check engine light is either unhooked, or broken. It runs a little strange, so I think a quick plug in will reveal the problem. I think its something along the lines of the TPS. I also need to put a new power steering pump in it(the car came with one).
  14. Awesome, thanks for the link. I was trying to find a xt board, but I guess I failed.
  15. Hey, im Chris from Olympia, Wa. Just picked up a '89 xt6. Everything works awesome. It has 160xxx on the odometer. I got it for a great price, and drove it home. This thing is a lot of fun. I needed a winter car, and i think iv found the perfect one for me. Heres a few pics. Let mw know if you see anything out of the ordinary. This is my first subaru. Thanks
