  1. Yes, as a matter of fact we do. And when people ask the same question that has already been covered, it increases the search time for the NEXT guy. If you don't feel the need to put forth enough effort to search and read, why should anybody else put forth the effort to help? Dan
  2. Mid to late 90's model Escort seats are almost a direct swap. If you find the right color in the scrap yard you won't have to do much of anything. Original on the left, 99 Escort GT on the right. Installed Dan
  3. Judging from the mile marker and the "ferry ride back" I'm guessing you were on Ocracoke. I guess I'm not the only one on Outer Banks with an older Suby on the beach anymore.......:-p It is funny to watch the looks on peoples faces when I chug chug by in a car. The drunker they are the funnier the reaction. Sounds like you've got it figured out. I've experimented just to see if I could get away with not airing down all the way (tried it at 20 psi and it didn't work nearly as well.) With 15 psi and low range you can go anywhere you want unless the piping plovers are nesting. Dan
  4. Both of these have been posted earlier in the thread, but now they live together........
  5. Sorry, I've been away from the computer with storm cleanup. I'll get on that when I get home this afternoon. Dan
  6. I tried ordering one from Summit this past spring. It took two months for them to finally tell me they couldn't get it. Luckily a board member had one he wasn't using and let me buy it from him
  7. Forgive me if this is wholly inappropriate, but this is what comes to mind:
  8. Here ya go: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=115379 GD did it first and I used the same one. Lots of pictures. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002OMB7FE/ref=pe_54780_19310890_pe_vfe_t1 The tuner sucks, and it's a little quirky about the memory connection, but light years better than what was there. Dan
  9. It is indeed a hatch, but from the back of the front seats forward everything is identical to a Brat. As a side note, seats from any escort in that era will work, the ones from a GT are just nicer. Dan
  10. Yes, this ^^^. I thought with the quote it made sense. Sorry for the confusion. Dan
  11. You can upload them to something like "webshots" and link to it that way. Dan
  12. That would be these from a 99: GD used some from an earlier model that look a little different, but mount the same. Dan
  13. If you look at this post: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=996335#post996335 towards the bottom there is a picture of exactly what is under the plastic in the back of a hatch (in case you haven't taken it apart yet.) I don't remember there being any significant differences between the sides. I'm almost positive the center holes will allow for 5 1/4s with drilling of new mounting holes. I remember the 4's I used were wallowing in the big hole, but I didn't measure it (sorry.) If you start at the beginning of that same thread, it shows some pretty detailed pictures of a dash mounted driver's side speaker (thanks to GD.) The passenger side is pretty straight forward. Hope that helps. Dan
  14. Not exactly. Actually, not even close. Before anybody perpetuates this misinformation, here's what really happened, not that it matters to any of us. 97 and older = 8 x 6.5 99 and newer (Superduty) 8 x 170mm. Dan
  15. As long as you've been here I can't believe what I just read. I'll fight the urge to be snide. I'm sure somebody else will be along for that. Toyota 4wd were six lug 15s. Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Isuzu had six lug 14's in 2wd, 15's in 4wd. Chevrolet 4wd has the same bolt pattern, but the offset is not quite ideal. (My opinion only, others may disagree.) All of the above are earlier models. The trend towards bigger wheels followed industry wide so most later model trucks came with 16's or bigger. I hope that was in some way helpful. Dan
  16. Tame compared to what you guys do, but I was having fun......
  17. Dodge D50 rims. Same as mine. Now for what I did. Got my new flaps on (Thanks Divesubies) And got my Grant wheel installed. (Thanks PK) Got my side trim in the mail today. I'll let everybody know if it's a viable alternative to the OEM trim with clips. Dan
  18. I read here somewhere when I did my search on the subject that newer head units don't like being wired with a common ground and it's better for longevity purposes to run new speaker wires. I never attempted to verify or invalidate the information, but it might be something to think about. As running new wire is not difficult, that's the route I went. Dan
  19. Yes, this ^^^^^. And I still have all the sound deadening (such that it is) in place. Dan
  20. I think this is the thread you want dealing with the alternator: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=100559&highlight=maxima Dan
  21. I found out seats all the way up to at least 99 Escorts will fit. The rails seem to be the same on all of them ( I looked at a bunch,) but the GT seats have the nice bolsters and such. Thanks to this board and the search feature, got new seats for $50, and thirty minutes of my time. Side by side comparison tells the tale. Much better support. These are probably comparable to what's found in a Mazda Protege of the same era. The difference being, there were a dozen Escorts, and one Mazda. Happy hunting. Dan
  22. When I did mine, a search revealed newer radios don't like the common ground thing, and it was recommended to run new speaker wires, which I did. Just an FYI. Dan
  23. There is some overspray. Most of what I read said it would burn right off in short order. If not, I'll tape next time......... Dan
