  1. Curious, why not get a copper/brass ea82 radiator and have 1.5" inlet/outlet brazed onto it? That's what I did. Used a 2 row ea82 turbo radiator, and a shop did the work to modify it for $40 out the door. Fits like a glove, I'll put pics in my build thread soon.
  2. Driveline and radiator installed! Upper radiator hose figured out and installed as well. Will do thermostat, water neck and lower hose next week. Picked up a PS pump, and will bend the EJ lines to fit next week also. Shift linkage to come soon. Then it's alternator, EJ swap harness, some guage work, exhaust, and.... FIRST FIRE!!!!! Hoping to accomplish that before independence day.....
  3. Driveline made, turbo radiator is having 1.5" inlet/outlet brazed onto it. Soon I'll do shift linkage and finish the exhaust. Then it's alternator, PS pump, AC comp, and install wiring. Hope to be at WCSS this year......
  4. Ya, I read up on how to do it... After I had torn all into it (engine cold)... DOH! So I put it back together, and did it again the next day. Went for a drive, opened the hood, loosened up the hose clamps, throttle cable bracket, and valve cover bolts while it was still running. Then I shut it down and was workin within minutes. Finding the TDC mark was a beeeeotch even with help..... I still haven't actually set the timing with a light. I will do that soon... Also checked the MPG today... OUCH!!!! 11.5 mixed driving..... NO bueno! I gotta get my Loyale back on the road! I really like driving it though, super smooth and very comfortable. Needs tunes!
  5. Been working on mine some... My rockers were out of adjustment... In a weird way though. The intake valves were actually very close, all were right around .008. The weird part was, the exhaust valves were ALSO around .008, I'm assuming whoever adjusted them last time set them ALL to .008, instead of the exhaust set to .014....... Anyhow, it's running MUCH better now. Also, stripped the running boards off, and put some 31's on it. The lift I ordered is waiting on front springs to come back into stock, so I won't actually have the kit until mid-June. I bought some 16x10 fake beadlock wheels off CL. And will likely go with 35's.... This thing is gonna be sweet! Here's an update pic..... If you would rather I start my own thread I will, REALLY am not trying to threadjack here... Promise.....
  6. The part number on the Man-A-Fre site is, OMEKIT-80F3R2. I think the fronts are the OME "J" coils, not sure about the rears. I called and talked to a sales rep before I ordered, he told me that both sets were considered "heavy" rate springs, not mediums. Also, there are no caster bushing with this kit, it comes with brackets for the front links to correct the geometry. They claim that 35" tires will fit no problem, but seeing yours, and looking at pics of many others, I'm thinking 33's are gonna be all I'll want. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it... Hopefully within a month or so...
  7. I'm not intending to threadjack here.... But I ordered a lift today! From man-a-fre, 3" level ride kit, which I guess consists of 3" front and 2" rear springs..... And all the other goodies too, shocks, caster kit, etc.... It's all OME stuff... I'm soooo stoked..... Also doing the valve adjustment and checked compression today, 145lbs, perfectly even all the way down the line..... Awesome.......
  8. Looks like a PERFECT candidate to do some SWAPPIN'!
  9. Here she is..... I've already pulled the wiper arms off to make them black again... I don't know why anyone would paint them white... Hideous IMO...
  10. It needs a valve cover gasket anyhow, so I'll be adjusting the rockers while I'm in there I suppose... And, it's not the front corner marker light, it's one of the little rear ones on the side, below the sliding windows...
  11. BOUGHT ONE TODAY!!! 1991, white, 130,000 miles. Good shape, not perfect, but it's all there and seems to need very little. Seats are clean and untorn, everything works as it should. No stereo, power antenna is broken off, missing some of the bumper cladding and a marker lense. Paid $2400 for it and think that's a pretty fair deal. I'll get some pics in the near future.
  12. One-piece driveline is being made. All 100% new parts, with serviceable/replaceable u-joints. Also, Getting the inlet/outlet on a 2-row turbo radiator replaced with larger ones to fit the EJ water piping. Making some headway, slow and steady, until this thing hits the pavement.... Then it'll be fast and, umm, steady......
  13. This is my fear....... If it's geared good like this, then I will have some 4.44 r&p's for sale..... I have them for a 5mt AND a rear diff, jus' sittin' on the shelf....
  14. Those tires are stock WRX sized tires. Which are just slightly larger overall than 175/70/13's. I'm hoping to get an idea of the gearing with the 4.11 trans, and hopeful that it won't be too low with the 4.11's. Because...... I have in the works a 1996 4.11 JDM WRX transmission that I intend to swap to 4.44, and put into a cable-clutch style trans case, depending on how short these gears are with the 4.11's. I have the 1-5 ratios written down somewhere, I'll edit them into this post in a few minutes. If I recall they are the same, except 5'th is a little taller than a USDM trans. EDIT...... 5th is 0.825
  15. MOAR PROGRESS!! Installed engine today with the help of Wentz..... Also installed intake manifold and phenolic spacers.... Also switched back to the clear(er) corner lights. Next will be the power steering/alternator/AC compressor. After that the cooling system. Followed by a driveline, then to the exhaust shop, then hopefully it won't be long after that to get the harness installed and all the bugs worked out....... Hope to make it to WCSS this year...... On a sidenote, my goal was to make it last year, with this car, completed...... PICS>>>
  16. The reason you have those perfect light is because they were bought as spares... And... I appreciate your honesty my friend...
  17. Good read! Someone make it work already, then take some video or rather audio, and post it up! I wanna hear it........
  18. I am now in search of one of these..... I just picked up a 94 4runner, and it's just not big enough...... I've been letting these grow on me, I parked next to one the other day and was green with envy. The search is on! I'm getting close to $6,000 for my tax return and prefer white. Nice rig man, I want.....
  19. THIS^^^^^ Which also means, the ea81/ea82 spoke wheels ARE NOT JACKMANS!!! It seems there is some confusion about this. The Jackmans are FLAT spokes.
  20. I'm under the impression the Nissan V6's are great engines compared to the 3.0 Toy V6's. I would be looking for a 22re 4x4 xtra cab Toyota if it were me.
  21. OK, that makes more sense. I was thinking you were trying to remove the disty, and then I was picturing a crank position sensor in the front of the engine and question marks were in my eyes.... I'm gonna go with yes on the removal/replacement of the disty. Are you 100% sure it is the problem??
  22. Wait wait wait...... Distributor AND crank angle sensor!? Ummmm, what exactly are you working on........ I'm not familiar with any Subaru's that have both......
  23. I like the title of this thread......
  24. I usually look at what was put on from the factory, and go that route if you are using a stock brake system. I steer away from ceramic brake pads. I don't like buying pads that are warranted for a lifetime either, I mean really, lifetime warranty brake pads?!?! They are designed to wear out, and if they are warranted for life then, what else is gonna wear out, usually the rotors. My $0.02 is, buy the cheapest rotors, and some decent organic pads, throw them on your car and drive it. Actually, I have a brand new set of pads, and some good used rotors up in the barn that you can buy for super cheap if you need brakes.... Lemme know...
