  1. OK... maybe a lil' dose of reality here... You probly did it yourself.... I know I've done dumber ***************... But, mostly, who really wants to "joyride" in your car, i mean c'mon man, it's a 26 year old subaru sedan!? Not exactly on the list of targets for joyriders.... I'm willing to bet there's not a single person out there who drools over that car, 'cept for maybe you... Not trying to be a d!****** but seriously man.... Get over it... You did it, accept it......
  2. IDIDIT!! Seriously tho..... Ummm it's not like it would take much to steal one.. The ignition/door tumblers are frequently worn out out. And they're the same a datsun/nissan keys... My vote is... You left it that way.....
  3. I did that too on an SVX I owned once. I was too broke to buy a replacement, and was commuting 140 mile a day. I went so far as to find the ends of the crack, and drill them to prevent the crack from growing. Then I filed/sanded and scuffed so the JB would have something to adhere to. It worked for a while, I don't remember how long exactly. But ya, things we do to get by.. Spencer

  5. I'm gonna lose the H2o-to-oil cooler and run a small filter to start with. I will ultimately relocate the filter and most likely plumb in an air-to-oil cooler.... I've been slackin on this project a lil bit, focusing on my home lately. I need to get back on the soob though, I NEED MY WAGON BACK!!!!!

  7. This +1...... Never had any issues with mine other than the control arm touching as Numbchux has already noted.....
  8. Don't forget about width and offset. These 2 factors can cause rubbing issues regardless of overall height.....

  10. Overall that thing looks to be in great shape! A little bit of rust repair in some places, looks pretty solid really tho. And it looks real straight too. Looking forward to seeing what you will produce out of this!
  11. Sweet, looking forward to getting the manifold on this thing. Still have a few hurdles to cross. Nothing major just parts sourcing. I picked up a 98 2.5RS ECU yesterday to manage things..... Cams and rockers are installed. Oil and H2O pumps are installed. Need 1 more rocker bolt, musta lost one in GD's garage. Ran into a clearance issue with my oil cooler today though. Seems that the header I just bought will interfere with the oil cooler. If it doesn't interfere, it will be dangerously close. I won't know 100% until I'm installing it in the car, there's no exhaust gaskets installed in the pics, so that may just be enough to create some clearance. Even if it will all fit, it just seems pretty counter-productive. Sure the coolant will slightly cool the oil, but the header will be really hot too, nearly 20-40% of the surface of the oil filter/cooler will be at a very close proximity to the header..... I'm not opposed to massaging the header with a hammer to clearance if I have to. Guess if I HAVE to I can just lose the oil cooler, but I really don't want to..... Thoughts???
  12. Today is my birthday.. So I went to pick n' pull! Got the hardware I needed to install the oil pump (STI), and water pump. And the bracket for the T-belt tensioner. Also picked up some of those rubber deals that go on the rear doors in front of the rear tires... From the GL10's.... Going outside to work on the engine right now......
  13. The ONLY way a frankenmotor is a "power mod" in the world of the EJ powered car is.... When you put the 2.5 block in a place that was originally occupied by an EJ22. Slapping some EJ22 heads on you Outback, Forester, 2.5RS, Legacy GT, or any car that was born with an EJ25, is not a "cheap power mod" as you put it. READ!!! All your intrigue will become...   14. If you're looking at cars that ALREADY have an EJ25 in them, there is ZERO point putting EJ22 heads on it.

I have 2 of them, both need repair.... 1 has bad front diff, the other has bad output shaft gears, take the tail section off the one with the bad diff, put it on the one with the bad tail section, and boom... You're set..... Make an offer via PM, they are located in east Clark county. I can also probly hook you up with a welded diff too.... You may have to do some assembly on your part, but the pricing will be pretty decent.....
  17. Frankenmotor is built! Including a fresh hone, undersized and polished crank, NEW rings and bearings, NEW STI oil pump, NEW water pump T-belt etc..... NEW 2.5RS Exedy clutch, ACT Streetlite flywheel..... Transmission in the works...... More will be revealed.....
  18. You won't wear tires as bad as you think. Rotate them every 4000-6000 miles, you won't even notice the wear. I'm assuming (by your board name) that it's a Legacy? If it is an EA series car, pull an axle until you hit the trail, then put it back in. Spencer
  19. If you're using it in a lifted off road car you're pretty much wasting your time. The VLSD is designed to work with heat that is generated by friction at speed. Not likely created by motoring around in 1st gear in low-range. Most of them are worn out, or close to worn out anyhow, and are non-serviceable. A converted clutch type LSD would be better, still though you'll likely end up trashing it. The larger tire size acts as a larger fulcrum, the clutches wont "lock" if one tire is completely off the ground. Just weld it and be done with it.
  20. VLSD, yes, some early legacy turbo cars came with a 3.9:1 viscous LSD. Clutch type, no, they were all 3.7:1, you will have to change ratios or buy one that someone has already converted. You are looking for 3.9:1 for the record... Spencer
