Spline count is the same! You need the hubs, rotors, backing plates, calipers and lines. Swap is pretty straight forward. Should be very apparent as to what needs to be done.

+1 I was thinkin..... "you bought what??? you bought what??? you bought what???" -
Thanks for the compliments! As for the console it comes from a Loyale with the automatic seatbelts (shoulder harness). Here I think they only made them for 1992-93 but I'm not 100% sure on that.

New pugs - few questions
obk25xt replied to 92_rugby_subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The one I have is white, came off a first gen MR2, I think it would look good on a sedan. Will fit a flat trunklid, which the sedan has. Fairly low profile and has 3rd brake light in it too. Would have to drill either 3 or 5 holes I can't quite remember. -

I wanted a sedan to do what I did with my wagon, but I ended up with the wagon, I'm totally satisfied with the wagon look too. I have an idea for the sedan if you wanna add a clean spoiler to the trunk...... -

I have 205 55 16 on mine (ea82 wagon) and it's lowered, I think you'd be fine with 205 50 15 at stock height. It should be a smaller combo than my 16" setup. Check this out, may be of help to you http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp -
I find that when I mount my studs I get better mileage, less wear and tear and I drive more conservatively (on wet/dry roads, in the snow I definitely push it!). Also I have gotten 3-4 winter seasons out of set before replacing them, not because they are bald either, just because the studs were worn further than I liked.

^^^ Geez, can't believe I misspelled motor in my earier post.... How embarrassing...... I meant frankenengine anyhow..... Motors are electric....
-
Thanks! I've enjoyed almost every minute of this thing. I think at this rate other than some minor suspension tweaking the next step is FRANKENMOTOR!! I want a Forester like you've got pictured in your avatar, I'd give my Outback XT up for one of those.....

I would like to see a compilation of EA series vehicles with a successful 5 lug setup. Pictures of your ride, maybe a few words of your recipe (list of knuckles, brakes, swaybars, axles, struts etc). Not a bunch of chit chat about how or what you did just pics of what the product looks like. I know there are individual build threads out there and some how-to's as well. Here is a link to the write-up in the USRM: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50400 I would like to just SEE what people have done and make a consolidated thread of people who have ventured this path for the future 5-lug-swappers to search and find..... please..... Thanks!

There are some duplicate photos of this car around on here some other places but I thought I oughta put one here too..... -
Couple more updates for anyone interested. Found a correct color highrise center console and installed it. Also.... New lugnuts!! Lemme know your opinion please. Console before And after And the lugs

It still gets regularly garaged when I'm not daily driving it. I treat this thing better then my Outback XT. Weird I know, but truth is I enjoy the Loyale more!

Any pictures of EA81/82 with shaved body?
obk25xt replied to aaronxs400's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Pretty sure you could pull it off reasonably quick if you wanted to check it out, and if you weren't a huge fan it wouldn't take much to reinstall it. -
Very cool, I like the setup for unlocking the rear. How do those brakes compare? Obviously that thing gets towed/hauled to the trails but has it seen any on-road braking circumstances? Also how is the rear alignment? I know these questions are seemingly not important for a trail only rig. I like your innovations and just lookin for more info. Thanks, Spencer

Rear Disc Brakes 4wdvs2wd?
obk25xt replied to aaronxs400's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
They ARE different.... -
+1 This is where I would look as well. I've had this happen on other fwd cars, Ford Fiesta to be exact. although slightly different in design, the symptoms were identical. Another place to look (although less likely) would be the 2 bolts that connect the control arm to the strut rod. This is actually where the problem was in the Fiesta. I've never seen the bolts come loose on a soob but it may be worth checking.
-
The split 3 spoke steel wheels from an isuzu trooper have a pretty soob friendly offset also.
-
No, but close. I used an end grinder and open the upper hole slightly, the difference in bolt centers was 1/8" if I remember right. Also I used 1 washer per bolt as shimstock between the strut/knuckle at the mounting point. Sounds a little more hokey than it really is, i took some photos, I'll get them up here soon. Heil ya man! Muchas FTW!! I live in east county and love it up there, Venersberg to be exact. on a 100+ acre tree farm with a buncha trails!
