Rear Springs....?
Not tryin to be a d**k but, WRONG! Cutting them WILL make them ride stiffer! Yes it will remove some of the preload which will affect ride height, but by cutting them you are also taking away some of the actual springing cababilities... It will not make the spring softer, the spring rate IS the spring rate, no matter how you look at it. By cutting you will only change the length, the rate will stay the same. The ONLY way cutting a spring could possibly potentially be concieved to affect the rate is..... If you started with a PROGRESSIVE rate spring and cut either the "softer" end off, or, cut the "stiffer" end off. And then still, you are not changing the spring rate, only the the part of the spring that is effectively being used on the car! even the piece that was just hypothetically cut off and is hypothetically laying on the shop floor still holds its same spring rate or "value"...... It's physics...........

Rear Springs....?
I used a set off the rear of an 88-ish 4 door sedan.... Took em' right off in a jiffy cause they were way too stiff for my liking.

Rear Springs....?
I, NOT a honda guy @ all, in fact, I hate them. Buuuut, I'm pretty sure there was not ever any 80's accords that came with a v6.....

ea82 spfi to ea82 mpfi?
AFAIK, mpfi manifold ea82's were only on the turbo models, meaning different compression ratios and such.. And then there's the ecm to take into consideration, a spfi ecm most likely won't control a mpfi setup at all. I know none of this for a fact, this is just what my limited experience and common sense is telling me. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on this will chime in and confirm some of this. Thanks, Spencer

FINALLY!! found the one I've been looking for.
Okay, so it's been a week or so now and I have a few updates. Got er' all assembled and it runs perfect. Also added a cherry bomb mufler and a cone air filter. As far as upgrades go I'm now sportin XT6 front sway bar, and rear 4-lug disc brakes (I can't justify swapping to 5-lug yet with all the 13" tires I have!? Just doesnt seem cost efficient). Also installed some coilover sleeves I scored from pick&pull awhile back, threw them at the front and rear! Lowered it down some, but not alot, now this thing handles better than any old soob I have ever had. Also painted the wheels black. Hopefully soon to be added is XT6 rear sway bar..... Check it out, some pics for y'all!!

Fan nuts?? Crank pulley?? Gotta be a trick...
Usually when I have to tighten the 22mm crank bolt in the car, I put it into a gear, set the parking brake, and use a long handle ratchet to get it as tight as I can. It takes a little finaglin cause the whole setups goes through a sort of torque preload, but eventually I get it as tight as it needs to be. I've never had one back off with this method. Another thing I've done is take an old v-belt, put it on the crank pulley and twist it up a bunch, put a screwdriver or bar through the loop at the end and wedge it gainst something. That works too. As far as the fan bolts go, I use the force! Fingertips, patience, concentration, and diligence! Good luck!

FINALLY!! found the one I've been looking for.
I know I know! PICS!!!! I took some today right after I washed it! It is clean..... I will get them up here late this evening at the earliest. Try to get em up before tomorrow... Also, picked up a set of fel pro perma-torques, cam tower o-rings and intake manifold gaskets from the dealer, and f/r main seals, and cam seals, and valve cover seals! Already have this thing licensed and insured and the engine is still on my bench @ home , too much confidence maybe?! Or is it experience that's just leading me to believe I'll have this thing on the road in the next day or so...... You decide!

FINALLY!! found the one I've been looking for.
So, I sold my coupe the other day to a guy and made a small profit. Which is cool, he and I BOTH got a fair deal on the car and it should last him a long time of trouble free commuting.... Which is what he wanted.... Then, lastnight while surfin CL, I came across a couple of potential "flippers" to make a buck on.. Today I went to look at 1 of 'em and....... Was amazed.. It is the nicest looking, cleanest ea82 wagon I have personally ever seen... I'm sure there's nicer ones out there, but this things perfect... 140,000 on the clock and the engine was meticulously dissassembled to replace some oil seals. Labled and organized in boxes in the back of the car. Has a NEW copper/brass radiator. It also came with a NEW set of haakapalita studs mounted and balanced and NEW toyos mounted and balanced too. Apparently, the original owner was going to fix some oil leaks and give the car to his mom. Then he tore it down, and saw some cracks between the valves on both heads! He decided the car was a lost cause and sold it to another guy, who did not want to tackle the problem. This 2nd (non-registered) owner has only had this car for about 10 days, and now its mine! Paid $500 for it all, which in my opinion is very fair. Its a 1991 loyale wagon, 5mt, single range 4wd (I guess 1 owner?). Blue on blue, power everything, AC, basic car. WOW so clean though! My plans are to first, re-seal and put the engine back together with t-belts and such. And then start swappin stuff! I've been rathole-ing xt6 stuff for sometime now waiting to "stumble across this car" so the plans are first, rear control arms and f/r swaybars, followed by 5 lug swap and wrx split 5 spokes with bridgestones. I'll probably just drive it with the single range and ea82 untill i rathole a few more things but ultimately will do an ej/awd swap! I'm really excited about this and hope it turns out to be my new daily rig. The outback has been sittin and I kinda like it that way.. It has like 50,000 miles and I still owe somethin like $24,000 on it.... Way to upside down in it, so I let it sit there..... And the lifted car is reliable and such, and it gets decent mileage with the ej22, but it's a toy! And not the most intelligent thing to run around town in.. So now, I'll have another one!

Motorcyles, what are you riding?

I'll pm you my #, and you can gimme a buzz whenever. Next week would be best for me. I can meet you downtown somewhere or whatever. I actually live about 30 miles northeast of that exact spot, but I spend quite a bit of time here in the "couve"......- spotted in Vancouver
Yup, that's me! Thanks man! Thats kinda funny cause I was chekin out that building from the backyard of the Academy looking at y'all puttin the windows in.. Looks like its gonna be a nice building. You commuting or stayin in town?- spotted in Vancouver
Me I think! 6" lift, ej22, custom bumpers, subframed, 29"x850" swamps, the exhaust is half 2" and then it goes to 2.5" with an 18" cherry bomb.- Winch mounting
I have one of these mounted to a reciever for my lifted car. straight pull it was working pretty hard. with a snatch block (pulley) It pulled my car up a nearly vertical 30" bank off-camber (for testing purposes). truth is I never used it for actual recovery, And the plastic cover broke off it riding around in my car. Also, with the cable provided and the snatch block, it only left me with 16' of pull, which isn't much. Also, fyi, the larger the wheel in the pulley, the less work the motor will have to do to pull the weight....- broke rear diff stub bolt
I have a 3/8" drive deepwell e10 with an impact driver, fits fine and works great.- tall shocks for honda springs
This is something I am trying to tackle as well. I had some for the rear of a mid 80's audi coupe, they had a couple inches more travel, but were not heavy duty enough for my liking. Not enough dampening. What my next goal to try is some fronts off a IFS toyota 4x4, they appear to have the correct configuration, but I haven't had the opportunity to my hands on some yet to take any measurements. I had the same preload problem you did with the honda springs, to the point that I took them of the same day I put them on. I only had like 1/2" "uptravel" in the back of my car. My opinion is they are way to stiff. While browsing the yard of picknpull I've been checkin out all the coils I can. The next ones I'm lookin to pickup are from the rear of a mid 90's honda accord wagon. They "appear" to be longer, and have progressive coils, which may be helpful in the soob. I haven't had a chance to snag any yet, but I am hopeful to try them out.- What to get on my License plate?
I could be wrong..... But I'm doubting it will be covered in mud...- What to get on my License plate?
I think SUBRDAV would be most personal. 1MEANGL BRNRUBR STIPWRD HIBOOST NO LAG DRIVE I dunno, I think you came up with the best ones already.- Holy subaru god's
Personally, I think none? Other than this one only in pics. In the 9th post of this thread the original poster explains that this car was originally an auto and how it came to be a 5mt d/r, converted by the dealer in 01'. I wouldn't think the dealer would use a pushbutton shifter, but hey, I dunno! That and personally I have not seen a pushbutton shifter with that smooth contour shift knob like that, only the square-er looking ones like I stated earlier, again I dunno! Maybe the OP could clarify... Spencer - OK people, lets see those bumpers......
