  1. Yup, that's me! Thanks man! Thats kinda funny cause I was chekin out that building from the backyard of the Academy looking at y'all puttin the windows in.. Looks like its gonna be a nice building. You commuting or stayin in town?
  2. Me I think! 6" lift, ej22, custom bumpers, subframed, 29"x850" swamps, the exhaust is half 2" and then it goes to 2.5" with an 18" cherry bomb.
  3. I have one of these mounted to a reciever for my lifted car. straight pull it was working pretty hard. with a snatch block (pulley) It pulled my car up a nearly vertical 30" bank off-camber (for testing purposes). truth is I never used it for actual recovery, And the plastic cover broke off it riding around in my car. Also, with the cable provided and the snatch block, it only left me with 16' of pull, which isn't much. Also, fyi, the larger the wheel in the pulley, the less work the motor will have to do to pull the weight....
  4. I have a 3/8" drive deepwell e10 with an impact driver, fits fine and works great.
  5. This is something I am trying to tackle as well. I had some for the rear of a mid 80's audi coupe, they had a couple inches more travel, but were not heavy duty enough for my liking. Not enough dampening. What my next goal to try is some fronts off a IFS toyota 4x4, they appear to have the correct configuration, but I haven't had the opportunity to my hands on some yet to take any measurements. I had the same preload problem you did with the honda springs, to the point that I took them of the same day I put them on. I only had like 1/2" "uptravel" in the back of my car. My opinion is they are way to stiff. While browsing the yard of picknpull I've been checkin out all the coils I can. The next ones I'm lookin to pickup are from the rear of a mid 90's honda accord wagon. They "appear" to be longer, and have progressive coils, which may be helpful in the soob. I haven't had a chance to snag any yet, but I am hopeful to try them out.
  6. I could be wrong..... But I'm doubting it will be covered in mud...
  7. I think SUBRDAV would be most personal. 1MEANGL BRNRUBR STIPWRD HIBOOST NO LAG DRIVE I dunno, I think you came up with the best ones already.
  8. Personally, I think none? Other than this one only in pics. In the 9th post of this thread the original poster explains that this car was originally an auto and how it came to be a 5mt d/r, converted by the dealer in 01'. I wouldn't think the dealer would use a pushbutton shifter, but hey, I dunno! That and personally I have not seen a pushbutton shifter with that smooth contour shift knob like that, only the square-er looking ones like I stated earlier, again I dunno! Maybe the OP could clarify... Spencer
  9. All the holes on my lift were drilled and tapped to 1/2", And I have have no problems to report with 20,000+ miles and some serious wheeling as well. Mind you now, my car is completely subframed and this may have something to do with the rigidity of the entire car...
  10. I'm not 100%, but I don't thing that's a pushbutton shifter. The pushbutton ones are square-er looking.......
  11. Very very nice. That is a fantastic wagon....
  12. This is what I'm running on my lifted wagon and Need just a little more stiffer springs. I think I'm going to have some made up. I figure with the added weight of my bumpers/subframe, my payload is sacrificed significantly. If my car is EMPTY it rides perfect. After adding a highlift jack, spare tire, couple straps, shovel, tools, and a few spare parts, I am OVERLOADED.....
  13. I'm gonna have to come up and wheel with you guys sometime. Looks like y'all have some good spots up there. All our good spots in swwa are shut down and patrolled anymore. Not worth the risk of getting a ticket for me..
  14. ^^^^^^May also wanna check the timing.
  15. There are 2 little plastic covers you need to pop off with a knife or something in order to access 2 phillips screws. Then you can remove the plastic cover and get to the bulb housing. You may need to remove the trim panel from the inside of the hatchback to get to the bolts which secure the actual light housing to the rear hatch. Hope this helps some. Spencer
  16. Except for the air recirc port thingys near the exhaust ports. Someone else will surely chime in and clarify what I'm saying.
  17. I dig it!! SUHWEEEEET!! If it were mine (and i wish it were!) I would do nothing to modify it at all. I would just drive it, enjoy it, and maintain it. Spencer
  18. Bear with me on this, should be worth the read!! The other day my lifted car grenaded the tranny on the road so I called my brother to the rescue. He picked me up in his loyale and took me home. His car BARELY pulled my hill in 1st gear, I knew something was amiss. He also told me that he needed brakes soon and his muffler was about to fall off. We proceeded to b.s. about subie stuff and I showed him a bunch of my stash parts (rear discs, 5-lug stuff, sways and wheels and basically piles of goodies!). He showed interest and I had an idea ........ My brother's birthday is on the 5th of june, and he's got a 92 loyale 4x4 wagon, sooooo. I called my mom and asked her to borrow his car, so she calls him and gives him some story about moving furniture in the rain or some sucha thing and he agrees. Cool. So then I trade my mom for my brothers loyale and shes driving my outback. I went to the parts store and picked up a ton of maintenance items and go home. In roughly 5 hours (last night) I completed the following: Converted to rear disc! (Already had the parts) NEW f/r brake pads NEW cap & rotor NEW plugs & wires NEW oil & filter NEW fuel filter NEW 2.5" cherry bomb muffler Inspected air filter (still clean) Checked & adjusted timing (off 12 degrees!! HUGE difference!!) Rotated tires Now my mom is on the way to drop his car off like nothing ever happened and I'm stoked about it! I don't think I've ever done anything like this for anyone (as a suprise) and it feels good. I'm thinkin he'll get in, start it up and be like "my muffler fell off!!" Then be like "my car has more power!!" Then like "the brakes are working great too??" I'm sure he'll be grateful and I wish I could be there to see the look on his face !!!!
  19. I did forget to add in the price of hoses, radiator and heater core. As far as fluids go I figure whether its a swap or not fluids are necessary, so for me, thats a consumable/maintenence item, such as welding wire, argon mix, t-belts, seals, clutch stuff, gasoline! Alot of this stuff is normal maintenance on most subarus and would have to be done at some time anyhow. I agree, what better time to do it then while its all apart, but, conversely, I also have the mindset if its not broke don't fix it. I don't count consumables/maintenance into the price of acquiring parts, thats just me tho, Its kinda like collateral damage IMO. Thanks, Spencer
  20. I bought (and drove home) a 94 legacy for like $500, it came with an "extra" ej22. I sold the tranny/rear diff, for i think 200? wheels and tires for 100, my ea82 intake manifold with (brand new) weber and adapter for 250, and my ea82 longblock for 200. Paid 150 for an ea/ej adapter, did the flywheel myself, did the wiring myself (with some help of a friend), spent 60 at an exhaust shop having pieces bent up, and lots and lots of time..... which IS money...... With doing the math that puts me at 60 bucks into it (I think??) but, the time invested is definitely WAYYYYYY more than the money invested. And since then so far I've ruined 2 rear diffs, 2 5sp d/r trannys, fried 1 clutch, and replaced the front axles at least once each. Regardless, if you play your cards right, are patient, dilligent and resourceful, it can be done very reasonably. That is my experience anyhow. I would definitely look for a complete car either wrecked or with a bad auto tranny. Hope this helps with your planning some. Spencer
  21. I am going to try to get involved in that yacolt burn stuff. I can literally spit on it from my house. They are really trying to do some good for the offroad community and I feel that helping is a way to payback/earn my place on the trail..
  22. I have been stopped out there (here) twice now and have gotten kinda lucky as far as tickets go. I am a low impact off-road enthusiast, but, I understand that DNR and such are just doing there job (patrolling). There are A-holes out there who dump trash/burn cars etc. that ruin it for the rest of us. That area TeamCF is talking about is in the works, but as far as i know it could be up to 5-10 years before it is actually open. This is according to the last DNR guy I talked to. There are organizations working with them who are volunteering their time to make the trails and such, I have some info on who to contact to help this along. Hope this helps some. Basically, for me, I've pulled the swampers off, put the A/T's back on and won't be crossing any tank traps or going around any gates anymore. The fines/potential towing is not worth it. Thanks, Spencer
  23. Technically, I live in Venersborg, WA. But since hardly a soul knows where that is I say Battle Ground. Even though it's like a 16-18 mile round trip from my place.. Closest neighbor, 150 yards, 3 dead end signs before you get to my place. Closest conveniance store 12 mile round trip.. Real nice tho, I live on a 100+ acre tree farm in the hills.
  24. Very cool, I want one for a project I don't have yet just to be in my pile of parts.
