  1. Yeah man, whats goin on with this thing?! My truck is running perfect…. Lets go wheeling?! Gonna camp in Tillamook State Forest in August…. Lots of GREAT wheeling out there!
  2. That's quite a drive for me. But wheeling (legally) anywhere is quite a drive for me. As it is, Browns Camp (TSF) is the closest and that's about 1.5 hrs or so..... I'll do some Googling on Evans Creek. We are supposed to have the Yacolt Burn ORV open up approx 9 miles of trails for trucks in May I think.
  3. Finished the shifter boot/console permanently. Used 3 Mazda 626 parking brake boots, had them sewn together and a piece of stainless I had laying around. Turned out great, secured with velcro strips, easily removed. Also, made rear diff armor out of a, 8" weld-on pipe cap. Couldn't be happier, this truck is READY TO WHEEL…. Just need to take some time off work so I can go out and use it… pictars…
  4. Thank you! Its "done" for the most part. Have a few finishing touches here and there, but the truck is READY TO WHEEL!! Almost flat belly, 24.5" to the bottom of frame, its a lowrider with great flex, and rides smooth….
  5. Been wrkn on my tunnel a lil bit, hope to finish it up this weekend. Should get some time out there today to work on it. gonna skin the rectangle frame and cut the original floor liner to fit around it..
  6. Ok yesterday and today, pulled the trans, bolted the duals to it, bolted the clocked case mount to the rear case and the crossmember to it (BUDBUILT). Started to get it all into place, cut open the floor, beat the spoob out of the tunnel with a BFH, and eventually (trans in/out bout 4 times) got the whole shebang where it needs to be. Tomorrow I am going to build crossmember mounts and maybe start to figure out drivelines. Ended up having to take out more tunnel than I had planned, but oh well, I have awesome clearance. Lowest point on the truck is the front shackles, then the hangers for the 63's, then the crossmember. Best way to pull the trans Budbuilt clocked rear case mount Up in the truck, where its gonna be, approx 2.5" below the frame. And how much I'm into the cab, I still plan on running a bench seat…..
  7. Here come duals!! Spent the last day and a half building gearboxes. Put 23 spline MC 4.7's in the rear case, and stock 2.28 in the front box. WAS gonna buy a TG top shift conversion kit, but goddamn I didn't want to give TG my $$, so I just converted it myself, and its WAYYYYY more satisfying. And it was easy as spoob… If you're reading this and want to convert a fwd shift case to top shift, DO IT YOURSELF DONT WASTE YOUR $$…. I took the fwd shift shifter, and put it in the top shift shifter base. It lines up perfectly in the RADesign triple shift setup… Check the pics… Budbuilt crossmember should be here in a couple days, and I have a pile of drivlines on the bench to cut up. I plan on tearing my truck apart tomorrow and hope to have it back on the road by sunday… Also drilled another output flange so I have dual drilled flanges on the diffs and rear t-case output. Its no triple drilled flange, but I can run 1st and 2nd gen d-line spoob…. Home built top shift conversion Home drilled flange Fully assembled setup

  9. Got a day in the snow, never had a rig so capable. Trimmed the front fenders a lil more. Tires only rub at full stuff/full lock BARELY on the firewall. Cant wait to build the duals… That will make the truck "done"… And I wanna get some weld on bead locks…. A few pics, it was a beautiful day…

  12. New headlights, painted grill/bumper/headlight buckets, and got some minty-fresh corner lenses… Oh yeah and and bought 5 new TSL SX's and painted the wheels….. I need to trim a lil more out of the front fenders…. Merry Christmas.

  14. Ok, so I finished with this session of upgrades, still need to put the diff armor on, but I didn't have it til yesterday so it'll go on soon…. Everything turned out freakin TITS….. Took the boomerang shackles off, they are no longer necessary after pushing the axle fwd again, was gonna buy triple drilled flanges, but drilled my 2nd gen flanges to fit my 1st gen D-lines, so I have dual drilled flanges. Grinding the IFS hubs to accept the Taco rotors took longer than I thought it would. The V6 calipers clear the wheels by less than 1/4". That all worked out badass though. Built a small truss out of some pipe, put two 5/8" nuts in each one of the steering stops before I welded the knuckle gussets on, and adjusted the steering stop adjusters on the knuckles so they actually BOTH work in BOTH directions. Shaved the bottom perch down and boxed it in…. When I swapped the IFS rear axle in the parking brake cable was too short to connect to both sides, so I put a 3/16" quick link in and it works better now than it did before. Also I plumbed around/removed the LSPV, I was unsure of how it would act without it in there, I've heard horror stories of the rear brakes locking up. I haven't had any issues, did a few full-on brake lockups in gravel and on the road brake bias feels good to me. They all lock up equally as far as I can tell. AND the parking brake works as it should. Also welded new shock mounts to the axle and out boarded them right close to the u-bolts. I think thats about it, not bad for 4 days of work I'd say… Pics As I built the axle on the stand it got really heavy, so heavy I couldn't lift it off and I was alone, so I put the tires on it and pushed the whole damn thing over haha. Drilled my flanges right through the 1st gen driveline…. Swapping the rear axle…
  15. I agree. I'd rather have longer ones. These are mechanically sufficient tho from a structural standpoint. There's half-again-more the diameter of the stud in length. Or, the stud is at least 1.5+ times longer than the diameter. The way I understand it, a bolt is only as strong as its diameter, threaded in. That probly doesn't read correctly, but I'm pretty sure you know what I mean. Lol.
  16. I just used the studs that were in the hubs. They're long enough. Also I figure if I want longer ones later I can still replace them on the axle. There's plenty of room with the rotor off to replace them.
  17. So, found some time and tore into it again.. This time upgrades include…. Sky's low-profile front hanger (pushing the axle ~1" further fwd) 5.29's with a Lock Right and a Grizzly (setup by yours truly, brand new gears/bearings/lockers) IFS hubs, V6 calipers, Taco rotors 30 spline RCV axles Cutting all the brackets and crap off the front housing MC knuckle gussets Some kinda diff armor IFS rear axle/new shock mounts That'll be all for this upgrade session, but on the shelf already sits a MC07 case adapter, 4.7's, G-series trans, RADesigns triple sticks and some other junk too…. I figured what the hell, been buying parts all summer…. Pics….. I woke up the other day and pulled the truck in the shop, and started tearing into it…. Axle out Heres the stock hanger location vs new hanger location, and new shackle angle at full load. Stock New Shackle angle Then I tore into the axle in the afternoon And by the end of the day…. Yesterday was turkey day, didn't get any time in the garage… Hope to have a pretty significant status update by the end of the weekend….
  18. I feel ya….. I am ALSO wrkn on mine again… FINALLY hooked up some 240v in the shop… Now I have AIR, HEAT, and AMPERAGE!!!! Can run plasma, and welder.. Actually going to wire in a 30a and 50a outlet here in just a few min…. Updates in my thread…...
  19. Cool, looks like you had a fun day. I miss mine, kinda, sometimes lol… I DON'T miss the MPG. Also as far as the 4BT swap goes, you can use the stock trans in a 91/92, because its a full mechanical, hydraulically controlled trans. In the 93-97 they have a TCU and you either need to swap to another trans, or get a piggyback TCU and program it etc. I still believe the 91/92 is the way to go, even without the locker option. That 3FE engine is bulletproof even if it can't get out of it's own way, downhill, with a tailwind… I will probably own another FJ80 at some point, it is for sure a sweet rig. I convinced myself if I go that route again I am just going to buy one that is DONE, diesel, lockers, armor, racks, air etc etc. It will be worth the coin if I get serious. Keep up the updates!!
  20. Ok so I'm ALMOST done hahaha.... Really tho..... FEAL struts came in, and I paired them up with some JDM STI pinks. The ride is awesome. I think the car finally can out-handle my swapped loyale. I have an appt to get aligned on wed, and then I'm really not gonna mess with stuff for a while. I have some home made 3/8" spacers in the rear right now, but I'm gonna swap them out for some 1/2" spacers this week. It sits flat/level, but I would rather be prepped for hauling stuff. The lil extra fender clearance will make a difference. The ride with this setup is stiff but not harsh. I'm stoked...... So almost exactly a year later and here's the current parts list unless I forget something. Power: I did all the maintenance/repair needed from purchase, valve cover seal, full timing kit, new radiator, new PCV, spark plugs, and a new exedy clutch kit.   21. Holy thread revival! Wow i sound like a douche lol… That was a while ago.. I actually ended up using a set of those accord springs, and ALSO cut one coil off. And, I was completely satisfied with the results. Mind you, my lifted car was significantly heavier than stock form. It had a subframe, heavy roof basket, 29" spare tire, super beefy bumpers etc. Regardless, yes, late 80's accord front springs with 1 coil cut off…. Spencer

Another t-case MC 10* clocked adapter 23 spline 4.7 gears for the rear case 5.29's for the diffs with a lockright and a grizzly IFS rear axle IFS hubs/V6 calipers for the front Aftermarket front hanger Triple stick shifter MC knuckle gussets 30 spline RCV chromoly axles and hub gears And I think thats it? Maybe more? Sheet I can't remember… Lets just say there's a growing pile of badassness in the garage waiting to go in my truck… And it will still look like a grampamobile to the untrained eye….
