  1. Less yap-yap and more tap-tap.....
  2. I've done 2-3 t-belt jobs on DOHC Subarus, I've never used one…. I've also never successfully threaded the belt on there without one cam jumping on me and causing frustration. I will buy one of these before the next DOHC t-belt job I do….. I may even spend the $$ and get the Subaru genuine tool…..
  3. I've only taken my truck wheeling ONCE since I built it, and got the trespassing ticket… I wanna go wheeling too dammit… SWWA is pretty restricted as to where it is OK to be off road and not risk getting ticketed. Keep up the good work…..
  4. Find a wrecked car it will be your best option, or a half cut from a JDM importer, then you will get the harness etc…. My personal opinion is you're biting of a HUGE chunk, and while I titally agree it sounds awesome and would be a cool whip, it is going to be quite the undertaking…… To put it lightly…. $0.02
  5. Nice car, AWESOME job, I always appreciate a nice example of DIY…..
  6. Haha NICE… The FJ80 is def a sweet ride, I sold mine, I don't regret it… After 6 mo of fill-ups and 8-10mpg you'll understand too…. I wanted a diesel swap, lockers, bumpers etc. I figure it'd be easier to buy someone else's hard work someday when my proverbial ship comes in….. Have fun w/the cruiser tho!! What're your plans for it??
  7. Don't sell it… You WILL regret it someday…. I decided to keep mine… Doesn't owe me anything, and I REALLY regret selling my lifted car…... $0.02
  8. Put the 2.2 back in. Forgot how much I enjoy driving this thing!! It's a badass ride.... Still looking forward to the frankenmotor. Til then she's 2200cc's of FURY!!!!
  9. Update… Yesterday I removed the spacers from the engine crossmember, along with swapping the trans crossmember, driveline, pitch stopper, shift linkage and steering knuckle all from a WRX. The shift linkage I got was actually the SPT short shifter assembly, score! I also installed Prothane shifter bushings and Kartboy trans mount bushings. I am still using the stock splitter, I removed the rubber from it and trimmed about 3/8" from the front-most part of the duct so it doesn't interfere with the TMIC. First impressions: Shifter/bushings is a HUGE improvement, super stoked about that. Ground clearance is also a huge bonus, everything is tucked much better now. Handles much flatter if that makes sense, feels more responsive, and doesn't lift/dive like it did before. It still does a little bit, but it's reduced and is noticeable. Overall the difference is subtle, but definitely an improvement. Next on the list is the rear subframe and lockdown bolts. I need to gather a few more parts before I jump into that still though. I'm thinking about doing the diff hanger too and doing all the bushings while I'm in there too. I already have the rear diff hanger bushings may as well do the outrigger bushings too, which means the diff support etc. And I'm seriously contemplating getting some STI lateral links…. We'll see….
  10. Got tuned today! I guess I'm satisfied I dunno?! 284whp 309 wtq, @ 17lbs. Was HOPING for 300whp, but I am def not upset…… With injectors, TGV deletes, and a turbo inlet I think 300 is doable…. By summer…… Blah blah blah pics….. Looks good?
  11. Yeah, thought about going that route as well, BUT, then I gotta source the ECU, and buy it. That is $$ i could spend on a tune, I will most likely end up ditching the AP and just get a hard tune on the ECU. I'm also considering upgrading the injectors which also requires a pro tune. Sooooo I see buying the 04 STI ECU kinda pointless for my goals...
  12. No dyno…. I will get a pro tune pretty soon tho, those #'s are what cobb claims of their OTS map… There is an OTS map for a FXT w/ VF39/STI tmic/cobb down pipe, which happens to be EXACTLY what I just put on my car…… Its dangerously close to being 100% in-spec w/ an 04 STI in every aspect…. Only thing I'm missing is the lateral links, and front control arms at this point, AND it insures WAYYYYYYY cheaper …..
  13. While I appreciate this thread staying up on the list, NONE of these posts are pertinent to this thread, AND I don't think this is the proper forum for where this is going…. There is a reason He is as busy as he is, and it is because of his knowledge/experience/skill/talent when it comes to these things. I mean look, we have people from all over the country sending parts and $$ to him BECAUSE he is so good at what he does. And not taking into account the walk-ins, call-ins, and random breakdowns that end up in his path from owning and running a shop. My personal business stays that way, and I have no one to get upset with, I take my business where I think it needs to be to get the results I want…. You get 2 but you can't have all 3….. Good, Fast, Cheap……. Lets try and get this back on topic please….. I hope to have this car untarped and back on the road sometime in the next few months… Til then I have 285whp and 323tq in my FXT to keep me smiling!! Have a good day all…...
  14. It's not even on my wish list yet….. That is $$$$…… Maybe someday…..
  15. Clutch fork went T.U. so I pulled the engine, which doesn't actually belong to me… MY engine is sitting on a cart in a shop somewhere disassembled for rings. Rather than put in another engine that doesn't belong to me, I will just wait and cross my fingers that mine gets built sometime…..
  16. Yeah like WOW!! Just running the COBB OTS map for it, which claims 285hp/323tq @ the wheels…. I wanna get a pro tune… 300 whp just seems like a good # lol…... As-is it breaks traction in 2nd…. Def badass…...
  17. This car is just sitting under a tarp now… No engine or transmission in it…. Would LOVE to put my FM in it but it seems like it really just may never get done IDFK…... $0.02

  21. I just wired in a dummy relay to the ecu. I'm using the ea thermoswitch to control the fan. So far so good no issues whatsoever.
