  1. if you can drive a fwd in winter, you can drive a sub on summer tires
  2. on a legacy, I feel quite comfortable doing it.........I use a 1/8 extension. try it
  3. How much do you think I get them shipped? I live in Quebec Ca. thanks
  4. Cable or hydraulic isn't the issue. you should have about 1"play on your clutch pedal. hope this helps
  5. I don't know if this helps but I have hesitation and other problems, I don't even need a code on my case I can see the sparks all over the engine, so take a close look at your ignition wires
  6. It's a 03 legacy wagon 2.5 not even 3 years about 45k miles without any problems except for the wires....is this normal? if the dealer sells the exact same brand wich is "Packard" then I rather try some other brand. I had "packard" on other makes before and I didn't like their performance either. I don't know if I can buy your brand in canada!? thank you all
  7. what brand of ignition wires do you buy ? I need new wires so I was wondering what brand you like best?
  8. Cookie do you happen to know which bank Subaru replaces with the improved part? I'm thinking the right side. I think the left hand side...the drivers side
  9. I could add ....why a turbo when you plan to use regular heads? your set up gonna be restrictive and combustion chamber size may rise your compression beyond the limits of a turbo setup
  10. if you don't drive hard, and you brakes are grabbing you should have higher than normal fuel consumption, also pay close attention when you drive on relative flat surfaces. bring it to neutral and pay close attention how long it goes until it stop. go on a parking lot atfer driving acouples miles and while on neutral try to push it. It should move if nothing is holding the car. good luck!
  11. when i bought my wagon, a 03 SE and then I started reading about piston slap .....i got scared, what i learned later on is piston slap is commun on DOHC engines so sometimes people get confused!!
  12. I don't know what is piston slap ......rod knock, is like you just said, you feel more like a knock .......a kick....the sound is very low pitch
  13. just cameback from route 66 round trip . it was some trip almost 10000 miles on bad roads dirt roads step mountains, and with over 1400lbs on board my legacy wagon se did it all flawless ............I even show how a subaru can handle on California route 1 on my way north to a fellow on these acuras with those noisy mufflers. I think he won't mess with a subaru for long time!
  14. you people who don't live under these conditions have no idea of d the world we live in during winter months .....so in quebec we have same or worst wheather............ forget about cork gaskets......just clean up the oil left around and replace your swollen rubber gaskets and if you respray your ride again make sure the product is ok with the rubber on your car....for sure there are products out there that don't attack you rubber
  15. My wagon as been trouble free.....well almost in a week i had a cel twice, yet it runs perfect...I go to subaru they explain just the same, second time i go back with the cel on they tell me maybe they have to change te computer....wowwww I don't panic I still have warranty!! I decided to go where I bought and where I usually go for service diagnostics....a sparkplug wire not fully depressed, even if i don't have to pay i say thanks to this subaru dealer. And now I'm ready to do her first long trip.....hope to do Route 66 yesss so nice vacation to all of you
  16. I had a cel and the car runs perfect, but I'm suspecting bad gas, any comments will be apreciated
  17. I think the 03 model GT and SE share a lot of suspension parts, so they might be the same
  18. A good diesel engine, is very reliable you can go a 1000,000km quite easy with normal maintenance and 40% better mileage when you compare to same displacement gas engine, and you can run them on almost anything even vegetable oil!!!! Do you think oil corp. going to like that??? That's why they're popular only on oil satarving countries
  19. 32k miles and check engine comes on, yet i don't notice anything wrong . I go to subaru after 10 minutes somebody tells me about some engine misfiring....i was really surprised, i never noticed any misfiring enven underload....well they keep looking and another 30 min. later: I was told everything is fine, the engine is perfect! Is it commun to get false cel????
  20. Thanks for your answers, so far I have 51000km (about 32k miles) I ask this question because I bought this car new and she still drives like new. I do live in a area of 3 million people, and like I said up to now I did 80% of my driving in urban area, and of course I did it in a very sane way! By the way I like the way it feels on the road, except for the seats
  21. I would't touch the alternator!!!! An alternator that overcharges will boil your battery ( battery life will be short)
