Well matching coolant channels isn't a "little" work in my book, but yes it can be done. -

Fair warning - the coolant channels don't like up on the 4-ports with the EA71 block. -

Small, little update... The exterior is primered, next up is the interior and painting and then color sanding/buffing It looks ABSOLUTELY fantastic so far, especially how well the hood has been fixed (doesn't flex anymore, and ALL the dents are gone!) Everything is amazingly silky smooth, its going to look like a new car when its done! -

2010 STI muffler. I may or may not (probably not) use it for the FF-1. Its awfully large, and the quad tips will probably look stupid But hey, it was free! Unlike the paintjob, which BTW it was primed today -

I ended up buying it actually, via someone in Japan who bought it for me via an ebay-like auction. Its only for early EA motors, EA71 and older, but its actually 4mm shorter than a standard intake manifold because the motor it was designed for (EA63 "Sport") had a shorter crank case with a higher compression ratio. So basically, you have to either shave the block or shave the heads to use it. I'm probably going to shave the heads.

I've been thinking of lifting my Impreza, and if I do i'd want something in terms of a skid plate that rolls up into the front bumper with some kind of shaved bumper skin over it, something to improve the approach angle dramatically and protect the radiator. But i'm not going to lift it until a) my tires wear out, and I'm done with my FF-1 project But in any case, here are some ideas: -

Visited the car today: All of the Lead was removed from the roof connections and welded. Lead leaches through body filler and ruins the paint, so it had to go. The roof is going to be done early next week, the rest of the car will be worked on next week. The week after, probably some priming. Saw this while I was there too: Oh, and this mustang gives you an idea of the quality of paint job they do, : -
Ya, it was. It was due to how low the suspension was hanging, that won't happen when its on the ground.

Already have some, i'm not concerned about the lugnuts at all. I guess i'll have to try the Impreza studs, unless anyone else has any more info on the subject.

What do you mean? You mean the open-ended lugnuts?

Bumping this to try and get some expert advise from the 80's folks... I need longer studs for my front FF-1 hubs. The stud turns out to be the SAME as the 80's studs, here is a pic: The length of the Impreza studs would actually work OK, I only need 1-1.5cm longer studs to work with my spacers. However I know about the NISMO studs (which are 50mm or 60mm) and ARP studs, but all of those appear to be geared for Impreza/Legacy style studs. Has anyone used Impreza style studs on their 80's Brats/Loyales/etc. even though their stock stud looks like my FF-1 stud?

I ordered a 699900981 hub bolt kit from the 80's models to see what that stud looked like. Indeed, the 80's studs, even brats, are the SAME as my FF-1 hub bolt. Now I need to know exactly what the 80's guys are using for extended length bolts, and if the Impreza/Legacy bolts will work or if I should use something else. -
Got mine from there with some help: The cost of buying them, shipping them, repairing them and powdercoating them (none of which I did myself in terms of the work) cost less than buying a NEW set of alloy wheels. The SSR's that show up there occasionally are pretty nice too. But really there aren't many 4x140 alloys that are bigger than 13" period. I have saved photos of every kind of 4x140 wheel that has popped up on there if anyone wants to see what exists over there.

OK, here is a photo of the bolt as requested. Its the same tap-in diameter as the current hub bolts, and the same thread. However, it doesn't have a lip, is quite a bit shorter, and the tap-in area is shorter too which has me concerned. I just ordered an 80's model bolt to see if its different. -

Alright, the part numbers for the NISMO studs are: 40222-RS025 60mm 40222-RS035 50mm I've got the Subaru stud on order, so what I'm going to do is take that to Nissan and figure out which stud its like and if its like the studs that come in "extended length" then I'll order them and be set
