Day 3 Alright, I had an hour or so with nothing to do so I lowered the back, adjusted the ride height so the wheels would fit in the back, and put the front wheels on... I decided to leave it up so I could take some photos and clean underneeth later. Ill take pics this weekend with it on the ground completely. So here are some good pics of the front suspension as it is, along with underneeth the front of the car. Its quite complicated compaired to Macphereson setups isnt it! -

FYI, the rears are fitting with the ride height raised... Albiet the fenders will hit when the suspension is compressed. But theres a half inch to an inch of clearance for right now, so I have a rolling chassis without flat tires :-p And yes, theres not a lot of clearance with that rear trailing arm... I've got about 2/3'rds of an inch right now with the Pugs and the 205's. If I put on higher offset rims that would clear the fender, it would hit. -

I'll have to double check, but theres quite a bit of clearance there. I'm pretty experience with squeezing rims/tires on with a minimum amount of space, so ill figure something out... -

I'm liking the rollcage/hoodpins/race inspired look for this car... I might go that route (might have to due to the rotted interior on mine) -

LOL! Well the fenders might have to go anyway due to the rust... I did some photoshoping last night to see what it would look like with taller fenders simular to the front, and it does make the car design look more even. Ill post a pic or two of it when I get back from work tonight. -

I'm south of Oakmont HS. I dont think it will be running that soon... I'm going to have to make the interior livable before I start trying to run it. It has the 1.1l EA61 (1100) -

It wont clear the fenders on the ground I need to try some height adjustments and see if that will help... If not, ill chop the fender. The rear fenders on this car are those hang-over kind that make it hard to fit wider tires. I'm definitely open to visitors if anyone is interested in seeing it -

Day 2: I only worked on the car a little while today, less than I expected... So anyway, the first thing I did was take the two "good" 13" steelies I had (one on this car, one was the spare in the 78 wagon) and put them on the wagon and swaped the 15" pugs onto the FF-1 However, as you can see in the pics, they don't quite clear the fenders... I'm going to adjust the suspension height (yes this car has adjustable suspension height) and see how that works. The second thing I did was clean the interior just a bit and pop the trunk to clean that out... The bad news - The floorboard looks rusty and the fuel tank looks like it leaks... The good news - The trunk is in good shape and the rubber trunk mat is 100%... The worst news - ALL the foam inside the car is 100% rotted... Seats, rear seat, dash, roof, ALL completely shot... I'm definatly going to have to totally gut the car and go from there... So anyway, here are the pics from today. Enjoy! -

Thanks, I was hoping there was a lever or switch in there to open it from the inside Suprisingly enough, the Service manual I have has ALL the info about that "sport" EA63 engine... In an idea world, I'd want to find one of those drivetrains (including the transmission with inboard DISC brakes instead of drum brakes) from Japan or elsewhere like maudsland mentioned and have it imported... Yup, no oil cap However, the hood appears to have been closed almost the whole time. Theres very little dirt/dust in the engine bay compaired to the rest of the car. It may need to be striped down even farther from being a rolling chassis... Maybe down to just the chassis itself. I'd need something to put it on to roll it off the driveway though. -
What's better the Pug 14s or the 15s??
Kostamojen replied to Crabman's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
That doesnt make any sense... Even the most expensive street tires I know of are only $200-250 each.
