  1. If I was setting up an Impreza for off-road, i'd splurge and have a full-underbody armor plate a lot like the WRC cars made for the car... Thats really the only way to do this properly anyway
  2. The interior looks in really good shape! That hood orniment is interesting, but it looks like you have some body work to do
  3. Ya, dual range is the best total-off road option probably. Its probably the cheapest too. Theres also the JDM Type-R 5-speed with the DCCD center diff... Or an STI 6-speed of course with the DCCD. I'd love to get a cusco tarmac diff in my car, but holy cow its expensive! I have a friend with a 02 WRX auto with a tranny cooler and 2.5 shortblock swap... Makes for a rather good dirt road adventure car That pan could use some additional protection of course if you are doing more serious use with it.
  4. Ya, thats the best option I think. Actually, the VTD 4EAT in the WRX and some of the newer Legacies is even better with a proper center diff... (I did some rough road driving with a Forester using the 4EAT, and throwing it into 1rst/2nd made all the difference) I'm not sure i'd want to burn up the clutch on a manual, that could get expensive... But there are more diff options for manuals. My trannsmission setup would probably be pretty good right now off-road (OBX Front Helical LSD, WRX rear LSD, 4.11 ratio RS tranny) minus the light weight flywheel/sticky clutch that doesnt like to go below 2000 rpms
  5. Wow!!! Looks great! I cant wait til I get my wagon painted, I hope it looks that awesome
  6. Of course I have one. I just cant figure out what tailgate is trying to ask so I can help. And moderators, dont delete my posts without at least contacting me about it.
  7. OMG If that was here in the US i'd hit the buy it now right now
  8. Im doing ressearch on US-spec subaru motors and I dont have any info on this engine. Does anyone have any specifications for it? heres my list so far, let me know if you see any errors: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=57925&page=3
  9. I dont think it will appreciate much if at all, but it wont depreciate any either.
  10. I didnt know there was a 1000 engine. Thats probably the EA52. Know any info on it? Fixed the EJ18, that was a typo. I'm not including the E designation until I get both designations. Ill try to check on that one at work tommorow. Theres only one EG33, so the D doesnt really matter. I added it anyway. Are you sure the EZ30-R isnt EZ30R? Ill check tommorow too, but it shouldnt be the same as the earlier model considering the major differences.
  11. Sorry to bump this, but im working on a more complete/accurate list of US subaru motors. I need a hand with the engine codes though, check and see if you see any errors (sorry for the formating, its an excell file changed to a .txt): The first line was just a way for me to organize.
  12. 93-06 Impreza. A little update to this, I went to replace the two that hold up the muffler (I just did the one at the tail pipe) and the two by the muffler are about a cm longer between the holes... So its not quite the same as the stock impreza ones, However, Kartboy does make "extended" hangars which will work for those.
  13. I dont know if this is common knowledge or not (I just tried searching, got nothing) but I was just looking at my Gen 1 exhaust and noticed that the exhaust hangars were getting bad. I am going to get a new exhaust soon, but I dont want to re-use old hangars like that. So, I had some of my stock Impreza hangars sitting around. I pulled off the old one, and what do you know, they might not look the same but they have the same holes and dimensions and are 100% compatible So if anyone needs to replace their hangars, they can just use hangars designed for Imprezas, even the aftermarket ones like Prodrive or Kartboy if you want
  14. This one? (minus the hick of course ) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-Subaru-Sambar-RARE-Truck-Runs_W0QQitemZ260017612740QQihZ016QQcategoryZ6737QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  15. This one is better: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Subaru-360-2-Subaru-360s-Convertable-2-Stroke-Deluxe-360-1969_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6467QQihZ012QQitemZ220014669348QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  16. I thought about side pipes, but I already have a side pipe since theres a hole in my muffler and its spewing out the side Its making scorch marks on the paint, so I'm not sure I want to go that route, and im not sure how to fit the muffler doing side pipes too...
  17. Sucks, if that diff was working you would have made it
  18. Alright, I'm planning on replacing the exhuast on my '78 4X4 wagon soon... What setup should I go for? I'm open to anything. I'd like it to be pretty unique. Cost isnt a huge factor, but I'd like to stay at $300 or under (the going rate for the exhaust shop im using to have one muffler with resonator installed is usually around $200) Since theres no cat, I can technically do anything I want even though this is california I probably need to keep it somewhat quiet, so straight pipes are out of the question. The one thing I DO need to keep is the stove-pipe piece, but I figure that can just get wraped around the curve of the exhaust leaving the head. I plan on taking it to a local muffler shop I use often and having them build the whole thing using a new design, and they have access to mostly magnaflow mufflers I believe. I was thinking 1" pipes from the heads, and if I do a Y pipe, make it 2" after that (running two seperate exhausts is also a possibility) but I'm pretty much up in the air on that... So, lets hear some ideas!
  19. If they are indeed "inserts" then they shouldnt sit that much lower, since ride height is mostly based on spring design... I wouldnt mind a lower ride height unless it makes the fronts sit lower than the rears As for the rears, are you sure they are inserts, or are they the whole strut? The rears are what i'm most concerned about getting replaced.
  20. I still need to know if they will work for the 4X4 models first Im fairly certain my rear struts are shot.
  21. Just use the ring/pinion from your old diff on the new diff and you wont have to change anything else. I've got a 3.9 VLSD WRX diff on my 4.11 RS tranny in my L via that method.
  22. I know the guy who has the VIN plate from the first Impreza ever made for the US
