  1. I dont know if this will help, but I am using an alternator from a '76 EA63 on my '78 EA71 no problemo...
  2. Ya, I think its the price of Foresters. Even the '98's are still pretty expensive, and they dont have a low-range either in the US... The 80's subarus are a much cheaper option here. I'd setup an off-road forester if I had like $10k sitting around But there are other projects i'd rather do first, which is probably the case for most people...
  3. Its been re-painted it looks like. But if you dont buy that car you are an idiot!!! Its in VERY good shape for a 76!!!
  4. I noticed in some of the FSM specifications lists that the actual model designations were not listed... Rather hard to decipher at times, especially the new Tribeca info (the whole 5-seat/7-seat thing was super confusing) And if anyone else downloaded any of the older Specification FSM PDF's let me know! I could use them for this thread.
  5. I havent seen any Justy specifications anywhere... Do you have a Justy manual that has curb weights listed?
  6. Woot! Now it needs a bath so you can take some "before it gets completely destroyed" pics
  7. If its hitting the perch, you need spacers and possibly longer studs...
  8. Got any pics of where its not clearing???
  9. Oh and I just checked, the forester and impreza trailing arms are the same FYI (its easy to check stuff like that when my impreza is parked next to a fxt in the garage, lol!) Oh, and the easiest solution i think for the trailing arm would be a spacer where the pivot point bolts onto the chassis...
  10. sayn3ver, so wait, do you have the AA lift kit installed yet or not???
  11. Or, the somewhat expensive option... Adjustable length trailing arms.
  12. Well last week I finally burnt through the tank of fuel I had in the project wagon which had some additives in it ("garanteed to pass" and some sea foam) and went out and got some Chevron 87 octane gas in it... And today, I changed out the oil, which hasnt been changed since I put the motor back in last year which also had some additives in it (sea foam, "no smoke", some thick oil valve-silencer stuff) and had turned pitch black. So I put in some Castrol GTX 20w50 (been recomended on the forums before), a nice Mobil 1 filter (was recomended on the Oil filter review web page), and just a little tiny bit of the no-smoke and filter additive (instead of the Mystery Oil stuff). Since I put the motor in, i've had a horrible time with the wagon keeping it idling right. I'd go out for a test drive, and after a few blocks it wouldnt want to idle anymore and I'd have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running... After about an hour of idling too, it would do the same thing.. Today was a totally different story, after the oil change I idled it for 30 minutes or so, then took it out on a 5 mile test run and it idled PERFECT at stops and never missed a beat (still doesnt sound 100% in terms of valves, but im not sure how this motor should sound exactly either). So I idled it another 45 minutes or so to make sure it wouldnt die on me, which it didnt, so I took it out on another couple mile test run getting it up to ~50mph or so (speedo still doesnt work) and it never caused any trouble... I just turned the car off now, and it never did have any issues. Granted, I still dont think it will pass smog, it still has a tad bit of backfire and small puffs of smoke if you give it gas, but its FAR better than it was before. Now, I think I can actually make the trip up the hill to the local subaru specialist (Barsotti) who can help figure out what I need to get it smoged and get it running so I can do my painting and other things to finish off the car Do oil/gas changes really work this well with our cars??? Wierd...
  13. I told you its too nice to make it into a wheeler, LOL! Anyway, its going to be awesome either way, I think its far cooler than your wagon or your RX
  14. Wierd, maybe something is screwed up... Are your struts ok?
  15. No rubbing, not even close. What wheels are you using? The offset on the pugs is helping alot with the clearance, and the fenders are sooooo far away from the tires that its not an issue
  16. Its not the wheels that mater, its the size of the tires...
  17. Wow thats great, you should go to a local scooby meet with that
  18. Tahoe area = your best chance to actually see old scoobs running around...
  19. For what car??? IIRC, the FXT (03+) forester suspension works on some model 02+ Imprezas, and thats about it...
  20. Just here? Try NASIOC, I-club, RS25, local subaru shops, local junk yards, etc. etc. I'm lucky in that I have a recycler AND a Pick + pull that I could walk into and get a oilpan no problemo for cheap...
