Vintage Soob Racer on Ebay
Kostamojen replied to Hocrest's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Welcome to the board! See if you can take some pics so we can help identify more things about the car, we arent even sure which transmission it is using. Also, if you have the VIN number still on the car somewhere, we might be able to figure out what model it is for sure, see if you can find a build date too. It doesnt look like a JDM car, my best guess is just a mid 70's FWD GL coupe... -
Monster garage tried this with a Beetle... And failed

Its just unpossible to tell without better pics But it would make sense to run a tranny with better gearing and such, which the porsche/VW trannys have... I'm curious now about the Hubs too, maybe its a completely different suspension, brake, etc. setup down there. -

Ah, i see what you are seeing now. Its probably just an aftermarket or custom axle of some kind. -

What flange? It looks like a Subaru tranny to me... I dont see anything different. The blue hydrolic device is connected to the giant presurized cylinder thingy, which looks like a heater core or oil cooler of some kind, as its routed back to the front of the car possibly to an extra cooler that you can somewhat see in the front grill in the 2nd picture. It might also be some kind of fire supression system too for a specific race series. That supercharger is awesome though... I just wish my car was 75 or older so I could do what I wanted to the motor... -

I don't think he cares how it looks

All Impreza's have had driver and passanger side airbags. Heck, if it wasnt as big of a deal to remove airbags I would have done it a long time ago from my L... But its just not worth it with the potential legal risks.
-
FYI, removing airbags from an airbag equiped car is a federal offense. Plus, If you have an accident and they are not working or not installed, you could be liable for all the damages and then some. Its best to just leave them in... Anyway, I like that bumper Looks mean. You need to do it to the rear bumper as well.

A downgrade???

Listen to this exhaust.

Wow that sounds great! Wish I could save the vid though... I'm going for a custom exhaust whenever mine is smoged and running right (probalby a long while), glad to know it sounds as awesome as I thought it would sound -
Not if you shut the car off or it dies or you let off the gas too much... You can potentially suck water up the exhaust.

BRAT bumper on a Wagon
Kostamojen replied to Kostamojen's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I hope not, the wagon brackets are long gone... -
I lucked out. There was a first gen wagon today at the pick n pull I go to that NEVER has more than 3-5 Subarus... It was in pretty bad shape, but the rear bumper was intact and NOT BENT! Woot! So I picked it up for my wagon... I'll do some work to clean it up, but it looks like it will fit. Has anyone else had a different model bumper on the wagon before?
-
Thats the best option I would think. Just some funky attachment that makes a 90 degree bend then goes up to the top of the trunk or higher...
-
Its a hell of a lot cheaper than the performance stuff...
-
I repaired most of the rust on my '78 Wagon. I had to replace a fender and two doors though, and cut sections of rusty holes out of the roof. Took alot of work, but it is under control now.
-
Do both. Actually, I would do the AA kit, Forester struts, and Scorpion springs, plus taller tires

You paid too much. Going rate on NASIOC private classifieds is ~$150 for a VF39 and $200 or less for an STI intercooler. I see them all the time at those prices, locally too (so no shipping costs). A simple reflash like that is what, $500-650 I think, and I could source the required piping for free from shops that have it sitting around.

I don't remember if andy installed a LSD in his or not... But that model of Impreza does not come with one stock. None of the L's came with LSD's, not sure about the OBS's. The 98-01 RS has LSD's stock. High-end foresters had them stock too I think, and alot of Outbacks and Legacys too but not usually base models, the Legacy GT's (recent and older models) do.
