  1. Seeing as sidekicks use macpherson front struts and you can adapt the Toyota ifs axles to those might be a better place to start. Also the t100 axles are 3"s longer then regular pickup or 4Runner axles.
  2. I just did this with our 99 gt. All the sensors are the same and the accessories bolt onto the block. Spark plugs are much nicer to get to now.
  3. There are better ways to showcase the under carriage :-) how'd it hold up after you righted it?
  4. Since you have the means I'll pitch one of my wacky ideas that I think could work. Hopefully this makes sense. So Toyota 4wd transmissions have the same splines on the for input and output shaft. So the coupler that goes from trans to transfer-case can be slid over the input shaft. Google Toyota dual transmissions for a visual. My spin on this was to take a 5 speed gut it save for the front cases and mainshaft. Then have the main shaft shortened and splined to the Toyota coupler. An adapter plate between yota trans and front cases should be pretty simple. You could cut the diff area out like the housing above to save lift height needed. This allows to keep Subaru clutch and starter function, also at least in my hatch it would put the shifter in the ballpark of the stock location. You then could run a 2wd trans for using divorced units or 4wd trans and yota transfer-case.
  5. Pretty sure I saw you pass oakgrove blvd on river road yesterday, that things killer!!
  6. Only hitch would be the inner tie rod on a ea81 has a female connection ea82 ej has a male connection. High grad all thread maybe?
  7. I hadn't seen those. That would make something like that float across the sand and snow.
  8. well for me I would be looking at it as a poor mans rzr 1000 which has similar to dimensions to what Scott would be making. Good for sand, logging roads, jeep trails, etc. with short wheelbase high ground clearance and a utility bed would make a great hunting rig/camp rig, or would be a blast in the dunes or embarrassing jeeps in the woods :-) not so much to explore the atv trails kinda rig.

  11. I think you'd have a good market for that one, I know several guys here have talked about building one. Get a few in the woods and out on the sand I think it'd catch on, way cheaper then a rzr or the like. Make it so the gauge cluster and all the sensors plug and play no harness stripping. EFI 135hp+ utv, possibly street legal, with a heater. Sorry I've had a lot of different Subaru ideas kicking around in my head this is one of them. I just don't have to time or the talent to do it. One other idea I've had for something like this is to move the front wheels forward like ea82 control arms on ea81 crossmember, with the radiator in back and the wheels two inches further forward the front overhang wouldn't be to bad.
  12. So would you do a tube frame kind of thing? I think that'd pretty sweet, maybe with the radiator under the utility bed to shorten up the front? I've wanted something like that for a while. Would make a cool street legal utv if done right :-)
  13. I believe the fronts are the same but the rears would lift it a lot, the mounting point on a fwd knuckle is much lower so the strut longer to compensate.
  14. Yep 6" lift. It's a ways down the page post #61 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/104328-lets-see-your-lifted-soob-off-roader-2010-edition/page-3
  15. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/82208-ea82-5-lug-swap-with-notes-and-variations/ If that doesn't answer your questions just google ea82 five lug swap, loyale five lug. Should answer what you'd like to know. I see why you had issues if you search five lug swap, it leaves out "lug". Also noticed you said ea81 not ea82 so this might answer more questions. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/114626-5-lug-swap-questionshelp/
  16. If you need a transmission I've got one in a 93 sedan that I pulled the motor out for an ej swap, car drove great when I parted it. Located in Portland Oregon if ya need it.
  17. So if your inner tie rods pull from the center of the rack like a dodge intrepid, instead of the ends like a Subaru, would you still get negative results or would that make toe change better?
  18. Don't forget to address the steering rack if you move your pivot points, like using a dodge Intrepid rack as the inner tie rods connect in the center not the ends. Keep it coming looks wicked.
  19. Cool, I bet there's a few of us that would find that uber useful thanks.
  20. You wouldn't still happen to have the files for those would you? Killer mod for sure.
  21. I laid a straight edge across the top of the fenders. Measuring down to the ej22 stamp looks like 7 1/8" no lift. Hope that helps.
  22. Not sure if ya knew but the front cases on single range ea and ej cases interchange, wouldn't be able to run an ej clutch but places like otts friction can make you a custom disc for more holding power. Food for thought then all your clutch hardware anti torque bar all bolts back up. Whoops you posted you knew all that sorry bout that.
