Hey Bennie, Im wondering if its not the stance of your wagon after your rear spring mods. As an example when I was a kid we used to jack up the rear end of our 60's chevys ( seems stupid now but in the early 70's it was the thing to do ) and every impala I jacked up developed cracks on the rear quarter panels. Just a thought, besides you keeping a maximum of no more than 2 feet of air under your wagon:grin:

its a good time to buy the disc brake set up off the rear of an ea82 turbo car/wagon. Dump the drums and shoes and youll never look back:cool:

Best brand clutch kits for ea2ej swap?
T'subaru replied to NWSubie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ive exported 2 of these kits and have 1 kit here for a future ea to ej22 conversion. the guys that have gotten these kits from me really like them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/F1-RACING-STAGE-1-CLUTCH-KIT-1991-1994-SUBARU-LEGACY-SPORT-2-2L-SOHC-TURBO-EJ22-/160708421399?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ALegacy&vxp=mtr&hash=item256af7e717 or you can buy the xt6 stuff from a subaru dealer. -
What should I take from this 89 XT6?
T'subaru replied to ABawm 88 GL's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
take the 5 speed and sell it to me -
hey guys, Id love to have an ea81 wagon to do this conversion, but other than that I have no knowledge on the kit. That being said heres a vendor that usually has great deals on carbs, kits and such but they dont recognise subaru. http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/32_36_DGEV_p/22680.033b.htm Im wondering if you can get new webers for under 200 bucks what would be involved to finish the install. Note. there is some bad weber product out there but these guys arent selling it.

Best place to get old(er) Subaru parts?
T'subaru replied to Chevydog89's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
rockauto is a great source as there are alot of good quality parts on wholesaler closeout, which is good and bad unfortunatly. Beyond that Id recommend eveloping a relationship with a carquest store. They own worldpac, which provides mainly import parts that are oem. I get excellent pricing ( wholesale ) and overnight delivery without any freight costs ever, and I live on the edge of the world. You need to specify worldpac and hook up with a parts person that is motivated, I never hit any of the typical retail autoparts stores. -
I think I swapped the entire driveline from an ea82 to my xt6. ( rx) Id say the xt6 tranny is a bit rare, I hardly see them in the yards but as far as street use ive done some pretty long commutes the last couple of winters and never used the diff lock regardless of the amount of ice or snow. hankook i pike studded tires and im driving 150 miles each way on rails at freeway speeds:drunk: Ive never seen an lsd rear in any xt6 although they show in the fsm. Very rare. btw, my tranny is having bearing issues now and its half price weekend at pick and pull. I drove ( in my xt6 ) 2 hours each way today to pick up a 22r 5 speed trans, cost 44 bucks . I did a search and the closest xt to me is in calif, so id say rare for sure. still need a tranny though:(

Thats a lot of conversions! Ive decidied to ej22 the bus. Im pretty disappointed with the "german engineering" on my aircooled. The harness is a birds nest from the factory. I was shocked when I pulled the cluster. If I can get around the booster and m/cyl id like to swap a full subi harness and instrument cluster, possibly hvac and controls too.

nice  Hey Woods, check this out. Ive got the same tranny but the conversion gears are pretty pricey. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=407222&sid=c7851dd5908d47cbef9fe16f41c7acb2

I would be converting it. Its an aircooled '82 my. I also have the waic set up that subaru used with the ej20g, it has its own radiator and 2 speed pump. The g would be fun in the bus...I also have a great running er27 as well.

EJ swap issue...Exedy XT6 clutches discontinued?
T'subaru replied to El Presidente's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
I bought my exedy kit here. Might be worth an e mail to see if anymore are available. http://subaruxt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12034&p=134788&hilit=+T%27subaru+exedy+15009#p134788 -
well im on the fence, ej20g in my wagon or ej22 it and ej20g my westy. I have both conversions ready to go less minor little bits and pieces. Any input based on your transplant experiences?

Hey Shawn, Ive seen this done but cant find the build threads. Ive read that there are cases that without a lift kit your good on the width, just a bit of bfh does the trick. I can appreciate your safety concerns also. Heres a link to a guy who modded his frame rails and firewall to build this pretty awesome Brat. Its beeen featured on this site some time ago and has made several magazine apperances. I didnt see a build thread but ill bet the guy would rerspond to any questions. http://z15.invisionfree.com/Mv_Brat_Brumby/index.php?showtopic=69

Youll need hybrid axles. Suberdave has them dialed in. -
ea dash removal for ej swap
T'subaru replied to subarurx yo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I left my dash intact, I just pulled the lower panel and steer column out and had plenty of access. I also removed all wires and plugs that wernt needed anymore. -
snow build up on headlights
T'subaru replied to T'subaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My xt6 is set up with headlight washers. The po hit a deer and a standard front bumper was installed. I believe everything is there except the proper bumper and nozzels...I wonder how effective they would be? -
snow build up on headlights

Im considering the same thing for my ea82 wagon project along with Turbones projector mod. I tried the wd40 trick very early yesterday morning and it seemed to work pretty well. Its really not too much of a pain to stop and scrape the snow/ice off the lenses as long as road conditions allow but not having to mess with it would be nice too.
