Hot Nut, Axle Nut that is (an odd situation)

Ive ran across the same heat issues and in one case bleeding the brakes took care of it. I dont think it takes much pad contact to generate heat. Seems like if your caliper was really dragging it would pull to that side. Good luck getting it fixed before your road trip -
More parts have arrived, the stock waic set up used with the ej20g engines. The waic radiator is tweeked a bit and its currently in a shop to be straightened out and recored. Engine seals/gaskets/pumps etc are next, then the fun begins:grin:

Looking good, and be sure to post some pics of your finished core support.
-
Sounds like you hung yours off the core support towards the engine like Jerry did, how much clearance did you end up with?
-
haha, was just speaking with my folks in your area, their tired of the snow and ice too
-
sweet! cant wait to see more on this...
-
Id also like to see pics Jerry, it sounds like you hung the radiator closer to your engine. Thanks sir, mark

Thats a good point, I figured it would be a bigger hassle to fill and maintain, but would also part of subaru's engineered design as im running a gen1 ej20g and waic with its own radiator and 2 speed pump. What about a gen1 n/a radiator with a dummy cap? I guess i have some research to do.

It looks like us radiator has dropped the 2 row EA radiator #1269. I was planning on ordering one and having the EJ outlets installed. Plan B is to order their Legacy turbo rad #1819 and modifying the core support. Id be curious to see what others have done to make this happen. Radiator change in 1992 Loyale

So please excuse my ignorance, but do most of you folks get parts "from Subaru" from the dealership, or is there a way to get factory parts online or direct? I'm just an old school cheapskate from way back I guess. I don't buy new vehicles, and I buy my auto parts from the local NAPA and Fisher, so I guess I have not much cause to visit dealerships. Thanks. My choices on the coast are real limited. Carquest has become my supplier of choice. They own a company called World Pac, and I use it pretty extensively ( you have to ask for world pac ) Most of the items are oem manufactured( they can tell you if oem or not) the prices are good and always next day delivery. I do buy some parts from Subaru time allowing, but I dont have a dealer within 100 miles of me. -
This just came in from australia:banana: Liberty EJ20G ECU and modded harness for the wagon:grin: Cant wait to get started...and theres more on the way

+1 on the Hankook Ipikes, I put a set of 185 60 14's on the xt6 for my long icy commutes , should drive like its on rails after taking care of some alignment issues. Usually Im working the greater Seattle Tacoma area and would have been in those nasty commutes I saw on the news but ive been in Vancouver the last 9 months..... and I didnt miss the idiots at all:lol: -
I replaced the rear subframe in my xt6. I had it at an alignment shop last week and it had rear negative toe and camber issues that couldnt be adjusted. Im running 60 series studded tires and when i hit ice it does crazy things. Hopefully the donor subframe is in better shape, well see as its going back to finish up the alignment next week.

black hole shed:eek: noooooo! pm sent:grin:
-
Thanks Nomad, its been a slow process, and ive changed directions a couple of times and parts as well..but finally im focused and on track..just waiting on parts and time
-
The first xt6 i picked up had non functioning belts so i figured id check them out after getting fsm's. Having gotten used to hooking them up manually.....call me old school..but after driving an xt6 with functioning belts, id pull the fuse..i dont want my belts moving unless i move them.

A little update as parts are starting to come in.. Ive aquired wrx drivetrain for my wagon, from starter to rear lsd complete, ill be running a wrx turbo trans, 5 spd with a 4:11 rear lsd ( big big thanks to Suberdave ) behind my ej20g. I also aquired an '04 wrx pedal box to allow install of the clutch hydraulics. wrx / ea82 hybrid axles and an 04 wrx pedal box more good stuff on the way, all i need is time and some decent weather:grin: Mark
