  1. I aint messin with that dang torque converter. I pulled the 4 bolts that hold it to the flex plate, so it's staying seated while I pull the motor. I had to pull the intake manifold to get the clearance I needed to loosen the flex plate bolts. If I had my 3/8" drive stuff, I'd be able to do it no problem. That and the drivers side lower bellhousing stud. had to shift the inner CV cup out on the spline to fit in to loosen that. Hey, it's stripped down to the long block now, so it's less work later.
  2. A decent EA82 wagon came in to the yard, so I figured the easiest way to grab the axels and driveshafts out of it was to flip it over. Used the bumper on the front of my Loyale with a tire to protect the winch to move around a S-10 that was in the way, and a neon. Hooked my tow strap to the B=pillar on the drivers side, over the roof, and to the back of my car. Couple of low-range tugs, got the car on it's side. One extra and over onto the roof. Only one window broke, and it was because of a rock. It was fun. Lots easier working on the drivetrain with the car upside down. Scored lots of good parts too.
  3. Bought it. Trailered it home thursday, took a bunch of time today to get the motor ready to pull. 2.5 DOHC's and auto tranny's are a pain to dissasemble. All the EJ22's with manual tranny's came apart nice and easy. I'll have it out tomorrow morning, then up on the engine stand to rip the heads off.
  4. Do they measure? AKA Who's gonna notice? Do the tires have to be stock tread pattern too?
  5. If you use a 9 or 10mm deep 6pt socket 1/4" drive, it will fit over the torx bolt and you can use it to break it loose. I used craftsman and they didn't strip or break. And the bolts were stuck bad.
  6. Explain why my spedo read 75 when my GPS was saying 97mph? P185/75 to 30x9.5 mudders
  7. There are companies out there that supply an adapter box, cable, and software to use your laptop with the OBDII test port. Pretty cheap too, couple hundred bucks, and the software lets you graph the readings coming from sensors.
  8. You don't have a spare SVX motor to go with that starter do you? The starter should bolt up, same tranny, people do the manual tranny swap and put the same flywheel as the legacy's on. So, Yes, it will bolt up and work.
  9. My mom got impatient and decided to remove the bug deflector off the front of the Legacy we just bought. Didn't like it, so she tried pulling it off. She coulda lifted the hood, it was unlatched, and seen the two big phillips screws holding it on, but no, so now it's cracked. The two cracks run towards each other, one from each side. I'd like to save the bug shield. If I drill holes to terminate the cracks, what glue should I use to seal the cracks back together? I think it's ABS plastic, I dunno, its smoked plastic. Identicle to this:
  10. Yeah, at the highschool auto tech shop, we had to vacuum and clean out every car we worked one. Good customer service. The worst cars were the potsmoker cars. That shiz was baked on to the windows soo hard. Would take forever with glasscleaner and rags to get it off. We did find some nugs and a bowl in one car, and a lot if visene in another (Don't think the red eyes were because of any allergy) So if some of his Non-conformity was burning tree, it'll take some cleaning to get that car back in shape.
  11. Another smoke from a different "pipe" leaves a lot of residue on everything. It's a pain to clean it off the windshield, dash, door handles, shifter.
  12. Is your friend going to be buckling up now? It's gotta hurt something brutal to break the windshield like that. Sad to see another one go, but hey, your walking.
  13. it's a different bolt patern than the EA one. Plus a different clutch that won't like to work with the EA tranny. Why not lighten the EA flywheel?
  14. Or for a trailer light hookup. On the floor by the spare tire? Or up by the package shelf?
  15. Why has no one else mentioned this? look up Reddevil, he's got an EJ22 with some good ##'s to show. If you want ripping power, pick up a wrx. Most have had the shniz beat out of them, but if the tranny isn't smoked, they're generaly fine. I've got a neighbor who's running 22# of boost down his. For how long? who knows. He also ripped the block in half on his supercharged mustang. The ej22 is about reliable power, not sportscar power. You could also up the compression a bit by running a 2.5l block with the 2.2L heads on it. You'd have to run high octane gas, but it might be worth it. Enough with the wing and sticker's. Just because he's 17 doesn't mean he wants a hyundai with a towel rack on the back. Fart can exhausts are stupid too. Another thing with rims. The only reason to have 18" rims is to clear huge brakes. Which your car doesn't have. Look at the weight combo of the tires and rims. Sometimes huge rims with lo-pro tires weigh more than smaller rims with bigger tires.
  16. Drive it untill the axel blows, pull out the pieces, and run it rwd
  17. I want a stiff ride. I'm slamming my bumpstops on a regular basis.
  18. So the spare Leg AWD wagon springs I have are 134 # per inch. What are stock Loyale ones? BTW, nice chart. Thanks.
  19. Great setup, works as advertised. Easy to install if you follow supplied directions to the letter. Great quality. Needs improvement in the strut rod area. Tends to topple 3 seperate blocks and tear unibody in that area. All other areas of the lift are awesome. Strut caps are nicely welded, plated, and keep the suspension geometry right. First impression from when I recieved it:
  20. Sending a shortblock to Ohio might be a tad expensive. I'll tag the EFI one tomorrow. The shortblock out of it should be the same.
