  1. thanks again guys. i got all 4 struts and springs.. easyer to take the compete setup. i took the rears apart and the struts are shot. i can easily move the shaft back and forth....umm so i expect the same with the front. we are on a tight budget so i don't want to spend 400 on a set of crazy KYB struts... that is not possible and she woudn't even know the difference. she dosn't tow anything so getting a little lift isn't needed. im now looking for a good deal on a set of dencent struts. I'll take some picts as soon as i get it done.
  2. thanks fellas thats the kinda explanation i needed. im headed back to the pull and save tomarow and will grab the struts/springs after i talk to the legacy's owner... she dosn't really understand my suspention swap.. but i told her it will be a hell of alot more reliable than the air crap.
  3. so i got a new 02 sensor... drove a whole tank of gas through it and i got 20.4mpg:banghead: my 84 with its rebuilt hitachi got 27... im not sure what to do about it. is this normal for the carter/weber carb. my dad is rebuilding a spare one we have... possibly that could help. honestly if i cant get my mpg up im about to get my vw back over here. at least on a bad day it gets 30mpg. I like driving the sub but im not sure why a 1.8l engine is getting the same milage as my dads f-150 ( on a real real good day ) its retarded
  4. i found a 92 legacy at the pull & save. looks like its in ok shape, even has new rear break rotors on it. im thinking of snaging atleast the springs and strut mounts. as i said this is a low budget project or as low as i can keep it. what would the likelyhood of the rear sitting lower than it should. would it be better to go with a newer outback strut and spring setup? would they work with the 93 strut mounts... im so in the dark on this and i have searched and none of the posts are real clear. 92-94 struts will work but i have the risk of the back end sagging...correct. if so how can i go about getting a setup that will not sag.
  5. no problem with DSL:brow: looks like fun.
  6. it was too much. something like 15 bucks:-\
  7. well a vw suspention company... Shine Racing has a setup for my rocco that dosn't require a sway bar. just a rear sway bar. its not uncomon. would a properly setup car not need a swaybar.... or would the suspetion be to stiff for daily use.
  8. i got ripped off by napa but i got an O2 sensor tool and it worked great. i figure i will use it for my other car or if anyone needs one i can help em out.
  9. how far between gas stations.. if any up in north canada and up north in alaska?
  10. i took a hitachi carb apart... not completely ( i kept the linkage together ) and i put new stuff inside, cleaned it up and it worked great.
  11. heck if my washington-Alaska trip happens might as well go the whole way to prudhoe bay:brow: but looking at my cars condition its a no go.:-\ i guess 100 dollor subarus that sat for 5 years have some nice problems.
  12. thanks a bunch i was searching some more and i was reading about that.
  13. here is the plug that was hooked up to the 02 sensor on the sensor itself. here is the harness that the 02 sensor plug connected too. note the two wires.. why two? if its 2 then how can a universal sensor work? and the sensor itself sorry for the big picts its the best way for me to explain it.
  14. after looking up some emmisions ilistrations in my manual i see that the 02 sensor that i have is shown on the diagram with an hitachi carb. with an 02 sensor and the 02 sensor harness. the Carter/weber shows an entirely different o2 sensor and a different diagram. i have an engine with a carter/weber carb and the o2 sensor and wire from a hitachi carbed car... and the original engine was the same engine.. with a single barrel carter/weber carb.
  15. heck is wrong with auto parts stores. I have an O2 sensor on my 82 wagon. i need to replace it. NAPA, AutoZone, Smucks, a few other mom and pop parts houses don't have my part. they show me that they carry an OEM replacemnt and a universal O2 sensor. both are identical, both have a wire comeing off of them but the oem wire connector is different than the universal connector. my O2 sensor dosn't even have a connector like there so called OEM replacement. my O2 sensor has what looks like a spark plug type connection. no wire coming off the sensor. when i follow the wire up to a few plugs it looks as if i have 2 wires coming out from that 02 sensor plug. any one have some pointers for me. most of my searching has come up with nothing.. is the subaru 02 sensor just a 2 wire deal...
  16. well in my 84 gl i got about that much in the city.. and 28 on the highway. the 82 has a shorter 4th gear. 75mph im doing almost 4k or more.
  17. spectrums are nice also.. i liked them. but they didn't last as long as the z800 ultras.
  18. i noticed with my 82 that both inner cv boots were shot when i got the car. and the same problem on a parts car we got owner had a problem with the inner cvs going bad... seems kinda odd to me. i'll keep a close watch on mine... i do need new rear tranny mounts... could that be an issue in this kinda problem.
  19. i have Toyo Z800 ultras on my little 13s and there a great tire for rain. heck even the snow.
  20. if it was an sit i wouldn't be complaining:brow:
  21. alright. if its an ea82 i don't care. if its 2wd i don't care. im talking about an 82 wagon with my ea81 and a weber carter carb duel range 4sp tranny. a front wheeld dive only will alwasy get better. and i really don't see how an ea81 can get up to 4mpg.. i just dont see it. 21 is just not right for that car. let me know how your checking your milage.. because i have had friends that were doing it all wrong.
  22. looks like your ready for the Kenya rally:cool:
  23. the car runs great, didn't skip a beat the entire trip. so i don't know how the carb could be the problem. too rich could be a problem and it does have and oxygen sensor so that too cold be a problem. the car sat for a good 5 or more years before we got it, it may have never been changed.
