  1. Just what I wanted to hear. Good looks like when I get paid I will be getting some.
  2. Hey Im in need of new tires soon. Im looking at some different sizes. Was thinking of trying out 205/75/15 General Grabber AT2s. I know some here have said they fit that size just fine, just double checking. Its a 99 Outback, stock height. Original size is 205/70/15 as many of you already know. Im learning from the previous owners mistake to never buy generic brand tires. Iva had two of them go bad on me. When I say bad I mean steel belt breaking and sticking through the tread. The tires are nowhere near bald. And the two times this has happened there has been no puncture, just belts coming through the tread somehow. They are some sort of tire called Lexingtons. They suck horribly.
  3. rather than make a new thread I have a question. My 99 outback has the AT Oil Temp light come on at start up for about 1-2 seconds. The shuts off and stays off. Does this indicate a problem with the "duty c"? And what is the duty c? The solenoid in the trans?
  4. Anyone on here make or know of a dual exhaust? I was thinking if you cut the Y out of the manifold and ran two pipes with some sort of crossover in the system. It couldnt be too large, maybe 2-2.25 inch pipe. Might sound a bit different than the usual single pipe.
  5. I have to disagree with the ABS statement. I had a bearing seize on my 99. Play was so bad I had over an inch of play when wiggling the tire. No ABS Light. Just a completely destroyed hub. Actually pulled the hub out with one hand thats how much play there was. Pulled a whole spindle out of a junkyard for 50 bucks, put a new balljoint in and called it a day.
  6. Never knew of AJUSA. I will be buying from them soon. I work at autozone, I refuse to pay the 80-100 dollars per front strut we charge. And its always changing. Ive seen our price as low as 75 and as high as 99. Plus we dont normally stock em so I cant even get my discount.
  7. Is it possible to fit 95-01 Impreza headlights to a 99 Legacy Outback? They look really similar but have never had them side by side before. Any other interchangeable body parts?
  8. in my case cost is no issue seeing as I have the tires already. Bought em for my Camaro when I was running 15s, but changed to 16s before I could use em. And no, not worried about turning with larger tires, especiall seeing as the difference is so minor. Not sure when that might apply, maybe if running 275s....but nothings gonna make that much of a difference.
  9. I think im just gonna have to try it, original size is 205/70/15. Height is pretty much dead on, just afraid the width might make it contact the spring perches. Might have to use a BFH.
  10. Anyone know if 215,65,15s would fit on a 99 OBW? I got a bubble in one of my tires and have a set of these kicking around. Im just concerned they might rub on the spring perch on the strut.
  11. P.S. That hacksaw just happened to be sitting their when the pic was took, it was not involved in any process whatsoever.
  12. Those heat shields on the exhaust sure can hold alot of fluid too! Was worried the car might catch on fire. And yet another heatshield is falling off now. Thanks for the info, good to know for if I ever have to do the seals (I probably will seeing as I dont plan on parting with the car)
  13. crisis averted. When we were doing this job it was getting dark out last night. Got under their this morning to find that the cv axle hadnt seated all the way. Now I just gotta go get a caliper and some fluids.
  14. So instead of calling the axle seal an axle seal its called a wheel seal on these cars? Im trying to get this done today, missing work as it is.
  15. Im not talking about the seal by the wheel. Im talking about the other side, Im leaking I believe ATF? Im new to these cars and AWD and dont know as much as I need to. Ive always driven rwd.
  16. Well. A nice chain of events may have ruined my axle seal in the front. Im not sure of the correct name of this seal, the one on the transmission(transaxle?) side. I had my strut on the passenger side brake into two pieces (pics will be up tomorrow) While replacing it the strut pushed on the spindle and pulled th cv axle out. And now I have a leak. We put the axle back in and it slid in nice and easy. No idea how it could have ruined the seal. So, anyone got a part number for the seal, where I could get it or even the correct name? Oh I also had the brake bleeder brake off on my new caliper...thank god for lifetime warranties.
  17. Also. Just wondering if anyone knows the size of the brake line fittings on these. Is it that standard one used on japanese cars, or something different. If anyone knows the exact size that would be awesome, I wouldnt have to drive over to take one off of it. Planning on buying a roll of brake line and a bunch of fittings, If I see line I dont like, its getting replaced.
  18. Recently picked this car up. Found out the rear brake line goes into the interior. Any suggestions on going about replacing this? Right now the car has no brakes, and it looks as if its leaking from the interior....
  19. Alright Im in my first Subaru as of last week. I bought a 99 Subaru Legacy Outback for 300 bucks. Previous owner parked it because of a broken window. Over time one of the rear brake lines went. And one of the foglights was broken. All in all not a bad deal for 300 bucks, at all. Ive already swapped another hatch onto it from another outback. Unfortunately mine is green, and it has a white hatch now. But I can get it sprayed come spring. And heres some pictures. Also the interior looks bad in the pics....but in person it looks great, the batteries are long gone lol.
