  1. No issue except for the fact it's all buttoned up and in the car already.
  2. True, but if you manually crank the engine backwards, it would suck oil into the pump, from the filter [provided it didnt have a back-flow valve]. I sure could be wrong but this pic seems to agree with that theory? This is what a soob engine builder told me at least.
  3. I didnt do the rebuild, he used oil, I use assembly lube. GD; thats what I am probably going to do. I was going to do it through the oil sending port though.
  4. Got a fresh 2.5 all together, used oil for assembly and filled the pump as well, upon build. Its been sitting for about a month. Best suggested way to reprime this or.....just light it off?
  5. I was thinking more along the mechanical lines....
  6. Any particular year of Crosstrek better than the other? Trying to help my brother pick a used one and not sure what year to look at.
  7. Thats the valve cover. I am looking for the part that holds the camshaft in on an EJ253 SOC
  8. Is there a way to tell which one goes to which head? I'm wondering if there may have been a mix up between heads when they were scattered on the bench.
  9. It was made to my attention that the EJ253 block has different pistons than others? Nothing around here, but I think I have a short block coming.
  10. I'm not intimidated by it. Found a runner at Spauldings, 146k miles for $1900, that aint gonna happen. Surely not going JDM. Wouldnt buy anything from Subaru themselves, I dont have that kinda money even if I wanted to. Anyways, this has got off topic, thanks all for the input.
  11. I've got no choice. I'll see how trashed it is before I determine what the next step is.
  12. I know this. I was just wanting one simple page with all the torque specs, like Toyota does.
  13. Rods, mains, etc. Like I said, EA's have one sheet and I can pick what I need to know. I dont need torques for most and all I have is a .pdf manual. No biggie.....
  14. Wasn't feeling like reading all that much. I know there is a list for EA's, thought I'd try.
  15. Is there such a thing available with all the rebuild, install torques specs, in list form? Instead of going page by page in the manual? EJ253
  16. Hey GD, My '08 I'd need to bolt onto the engines you mentioned is what you are saying? Everything electronically will be good to go I assume?
  17. Do I have any plug and play options to replace my engine? Or am I stuck with a certain year range? Trying to find one but it seems limited.
  18. Getting a code for it. Unplugged it, fiddled around, checked vac hoses, nothing. Can I buy a generic one or am I better off with a certain brand name, or even a used one? 95 Legacy.
