  1. Only vacuum left on this is for the cabin controls, dist. advance and the choke pull offs I think. Oh yeah, the cold air door.
  2. Hmmm...he told me it was injected. Pretty sure its an '87 too, non CA. My '86 has a carb with but 1 or 2 vacuum hoses on it. Lots of plugs.
  3. They are both EA82 wagons. I havent a clue where to even begin with this. I need my dual range though. That should swap straight in?? Dude...carbs rule! I imagine it would be SPFI if it was '87...right? I might leave it as it is. I dont like wires and I dont like vacuum hoses, so we will see.
  4. My '86 GL has a less than desirable body. I was given an '87. Can I "swap" bodies? My running gear, etc is excellent. What would it be like to swap all the '86 stuff over? The '86 is carbed and I want the '87 to be carbed as well.
  5. Or whatever that thing is called on the Hitachi, with the little spring in it. Anyways, I shorted it out and it killed my tach. I am assuming it will be a fuse blown? Too dark to look now, thought I would ask and be prepared.
  6. I am also going to get a real gauge, but that that requires a trip to town, which I think we are going to do soon. I pulled the sending unit pipe out and got a big bubble of air. Everything worked fine then. Not too bad a job, only had 2 left over bolts.
  7. Did a reseal, etc. Filled the filter, cranked it and seemed to get some pressure. Started it and 30 secs later it started making noise. Pressure gauge is messed up anyways and cant do much about it right now. Airlock?? Bleed? Any suggestions? '86 ea82
  8. First guess would be fuel filter or fuel pump.
  9. GD, you should start making custom harnesses so people wont have to yard out old stuff. There you go, make a kit and sell it.
  10. Well, I guess coming from a city dweller, that might work. Live here and see how far you get when you involve something electronic or computer operated that is that age. Could be the difference between life and death. As for the rest of your post....I'll just attribute it to you still being a kid.
  11. I would be the first one to say stick with the carb. Carbs work and will always work. I might have a couple engines soon that I will yank clean of injection and put a carb on. Maybe we could trade intake and such for the injection stuff. Not sure what is involved but it might be an option.
  12. It is amazing how much oil or fuel a spin-on filter will hold!!
  13. Did all the seals, etc on an ea82. Put it all back together. Can I/ should I fill the oil filter such, before I start cranking on it? Prime the oil pump? I drained all the oil so there is no oil anywhere to be found. Of course I have already put all the belts on, etc. :/
  14. Great...I hate to go ruin something by actually using a torque wrench. Good to know on the blue. Red on the exhaust studs?
  15. Was thinking that, but wanted to be sure. What are they supposed to be torqued at?
  16. Seems it wasnt the throw out bearing after all, it was the pilot bearing. It grenaded and messed up the clutch disc and springs. Problem is now the outer race of the bearing is stuck in the flywheel still. I dont have a puller that small, anyone have any ideas before I make an attempt? I took the pressure washer to everything, I wonder if anything will ever work again. :/
  17. I'm kinda thinking belts, clutch, seals, clean the engine.
  18. It has told me that it is time to be changed. Pulling the engine is the easiest way? What all else should I do to an engine with 250K miles on it, while it is out? I am just assuming it has that many miles on it, would never know it though.
  19. Beats me, just wanting to see if anyone was paying attention.
