Year round. If I recall, it was a lengthy topic. Basically both fluids had the same shear factor....and thats about all I can remember. I do recall researching it quite a bit, being reluctant of course. I briefly tried searching for it, nothing yet.

Well, it was suggested here and I have been doing it for a couple years now, I do believe.

I drained the gear oil in the tranny and put straight ATF in. Works great, especially when its cold.

Jacobs, I emailed you, but I did it before I read this. Thanks for the explanation. You can ignore the email.

Thats fairly acceptable.

Problem is, I know where points go, how to set them and what they look like. I am not even sure what all is involved with the current setup. Are you saying it is soley a disty and coil? Nothing else involved?

Hey, Contact me, PM, email....someway, if you would please.

I got into this a while back but never got an answer. Is it possible to have an ea82 with a point distributor? There are no sensors hooked up to it at this time, runs great. I am looking for something that can be fixed on the side of the road, should the need arise. Point ignitions can almost always be repaired on the road.

I agree. I was questioning heighth.

86'GL wagon. What other wheels will bolt right up? What size tire [tall] can I go to with the original wheels and no lift? What tire can I go to without compromising mileage or performance?

There is quite a difference running in MT compared to running in FL.

25mpg today. Why would you expect to get good mileage at 75mph?
-
Problem solved. I have been given 2 straight, rust free 85-86 GL wagons. My wife will kill me!

While we're on this, how often 'should' one change belts on an EA82? I love mine. If I could make it run computer-less, I would love it better. After all, I am down to about 3 vacuum hoses.

I do

Good to know. 250K+ and still running quite strong. Who knows when I will need to find something. People are trying to talk me into moving up to a Legacy, but I cant see why I would ever want to do that.
-
If this goes tits up, I will just get another ea82. I had this sitting here thinking it was an ea81, until I looked closer.
-
I kinda figured that. So much for that plan. :/
-
Bugger, its an EA71.

Well, I cant seem to find a post on it. Care to share? [bah-hooey...found one] I take that back. I cant find anything concise about the swap.
-
Hypothetically at this moment. Can I pull the 82 and put an 81 in its place? Mine is at 250+K and I ihave an 81 sitting around. Was thinking I would swap when the time came, if needed. If so, pros-cons?

Ok, looking at Cibie Oscar Plus. This should work on my lighting issue.
