Yes it is possible. I have done it several times. I usually grab the entire front engine cross-member with the rack, hoses, and pump from the donor car. You will need all the brackets and bolts associated with the pump too. If it's an EA81 engine then you will also need the thermostat housing. Don't forget the coupling shaft to attach the rack to the steering column as it is different. Good Luck! It's a nice conversion and worth while.

Why Is the resale value so high?
Crazyeights replied to Alex_G360's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
These things go in stages. First the car is worth a lot when it's new. The value slowly declines over the years until it ends up at the end of it's service life. Next step is Pick-N-Pull or... Not too long after the last of the EA81's left the junkyards the prices started to go up. Now the EA82's are almost gone from the yards and new parts are starting to dry up. Prices on nice EA82 body cars is about to go up. There are Soooo many 94+ Legacies both on the road and in the yards I doubt prices on those will ever go up. Does any of this make sense to anyone else or is it just me? -
What about the chain drive setup used in older GM FWD automatics, would that be of any help? I have no idea how big they are but they last an age if cared for.

I am pretty sure that EA82 radios are rectangular shaped while the EA81 are the two shaft-knob style, correct? I don't think it would work without some cutting and then you might as well get a nice radio. Do you have one of the rare "slant" style EA81 radio consoles?

The Mill Supply panels are probably the closest thing to new that you will find these days. Even though these are for an EA82 body I hear that they can be made to fit. https://www.millsupply.com/auto-body-rust-repair-panels/subaru/ Other than that a it's time for the junk yard and a cordless sawzall BTW Welcome aboard Rob

I have an EJ swapped '83 GL Wagon. I have been driving it on and off for almost 10 years without any problems. I don't let it get really low on gas though.

You will probably have to fab one up yourself. I doubt you will find a "bolt in" crossmember for an EJ 5MT <--> EA81 body. Sounds like a neat project -
88 GL Hill Holder Issues/Repair?
Crazyeights replied to YnotDIY's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There is/was a thread on here about resealing them and what o-rings to use so I know it's possible to fix them. You could also find a used one that still works. I think it's a nice feature and worth keeping.- 7 replies

88 Rx Center Diff Question
Crazyeights replied to Naked Buell's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Try turning the car in a tight circle and it will torque bind with the center diff locked. Without the center diff locked you can turn circles all day long if the tires match -
Glad you are ok I hope ?

81 GL wagon intake vs. 82 Brat intake

It should work as long as they are both EA81 engines.- 1 reply

I have the equipment to erase and re-program (burn) most older UV EPROMS like the 2764 ect. I'll volunteer to try and help if someone gets as far as needing a set of EPROMS burned.

That's a capacitor for radio noise suppression. The newer Nissan alternator doesn't need it.

Need 3rd eye/Center Lamp Part Numbers
Crazyeights replied to carfreak85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I looked through both 1983 and 1984 parts catalogs and neither one shows the center lamp assembly. I don't have anything older than that, sorry.
