  1. Try checking the radius arm bushings in the front and the 2 bolts that connect the radius arms to the lower control arms for torque steer, assuming all of the other basics are good. Make sure the struts are good as well. Not sure on the rear, other than the 3 bolts he refers to.
  2. I am looking for axles that fit a similar setup. Are you having any luck find out what fits? I know a lot of what doesn't work.
  3. I would pull the drain plug first and see if any metal is stuck to the magnet. These trans are very good if they haven't been abused too badly. If it looks good then just replace whatever seals you want to do with it out and run it! There is a good article on here about re-sealing if you need that. Make sure you can get the speedo cable connected BEFORE the trans goes in, The old cable could be broken off in the case.
  4. Your car is great, don't let the little challenges break your spirit!
  5. I'm not sure on the specifics of this situation. When you removed the studs and changed the design to bolts it entered in new variables for failure. The original design works and works for many years. Make your changes carefully and your method will too. Just make sure everything is new, tight, correct thread pitch, length, ect. Last of all use some Loctite on the studs or bolts.
  6. I have several years on my SJR EJ22 adapter and 4" EA81 lift and all is rock solid so far. Thanks Scott!
  7. Put two nuts on the end of each stud and jam them together with 2 wrenches to turn them out. I usually use a tiny amount of blue Loctite on the end of the stud that threads in to the hub on the new water pump. You may want to spring for a new pack of studs (they used to come with most water pumps). After they get used over and over several times they can stretch and fail.
  8. The short answer to your question is no. Lots of searching and reading will answer all of your questions.
  9. I am just starting to work on this type of project now! I picked up the '92 Loyale. The 5 lug swap is under way along with a GL10 turbo front cross member. The EJ22T, matching 4EAT and VLSD are already here. I am still looking for the correct Loyale/GL 4EAT shifter with plastic along with the proper trans mount and auto cross member. I just finished up the trailing arms for the rear tonight. I am using a set rear arms from an XT coupe for the rear sway bar mounts but I had to add the bump stop mushroom pads. Can't wait to see yours if you get started with it!
  10. At least the brake system will be flushed and clean when you are done
  11. Is it aluminum and plastic or all metal? Part number?
  12. Great info, I thought it was just me. Do you have any specific recommendations then? Sachs, Kyb, ect?
  13. If engine and gaskets are 100% solid, perhaps try bumping up the base timing as far as 28 degrees and see if it helps.
  14. I bet it's a blast! How noisy are the cams and where is the lash set if solid?
  15. It would be great with an L20 in it. I sure don't miss setting up the timing chain on those however
  16. Lots of great info here, thanks!
  17. Check the windshield area for cancer, take a close look at the spare tire well under the hood for rust. Also as noted check the rockers and rear crossmember area. Lastly don't forget to crawl under the dash with flashlight and look for rust./ water damage in the cowl area at the bottom of the windshield. Make sure the seats aren't about to rot through the floor, ect. Mechanical issues are easily fixed. Too much rot and I would pass at any price. Fine tooth comb and good luck
  18. I have had good luck soldering these back on. Make sure to use a high enough wattage gun so you can do it really quickly (less chance of damage). Also clean the area well and use flux. It may not be the proper way, but the repairs I have done so far have lasted for years. I suppose you could also use a conductive epoxy for a "cold" fix. If you aren't really comfortable with a soldering iron I wouldn't make this my first task with one.
  19. Good luck! It looks like it would be a lot of work to try and save this one.
