  1. Correct, the EA81 is the 1.8 and the EA71 is a 1.6
  2. I'll mail you a used cone washer or 2 if you can't find any. I don't have any extra hubs though.
  3. I have been watching your thread and I was wondering why your shift linkage looked so much different than mine when I did the conversion on it. Great job, you seem to be very detail oriented in your work. The time you have spent really shows. Congrats on the initial firing:clap: If you are curious you can send a sample of your break-in oil to Blackstone Labs for an analysis. It's only about $25.00 and they send you the bottle and shipping tube for free.
  4. I have an RX trans with XT6 3.9 ring and pinion installed along with 23 spline stubs (from a S/R 5spd) behind an EJ22. So far several thousand trouble free miles. I would like to open it one more time for the 1.59 swap as soon as I find a donor trans. Numbchux - I am following your other thread, I hope you find a resolution. Good Luck!
  5. Na, it's got to be a HUGE Aero wing on the back!
  6. Especially if it's a manual trans car, the e-brake is pretty much a must have.
  7. Looks great! Also thank you for all of the time spent in your write-ups:D I am interested in your hood scoop.
  8. I don't think your dream went down the tube. Contrary, now you have even more money to put where it counts on your build. Read a lot on here about what others have done and listen to the advice. You could do a single turbo, or a frankenmotor, ect. Just change the plan a little bit and do it
  9. I would just put it on and flush some clean brake fluid through it. If it works once it's all bled out, just clean it up a little and hit it with some rust convertor or POR 15. Just be careful not to damage the rubber on the end of it.
  10. Are your heads and cams stock? Hydro or solid, roller or not? Also what engine management are you running, stock 2.2? Glad you are happy with the build.
  11. I'm not sure about the emission laws in your state so you should look in to that first. There isn't really any large benefit in "removing all the emission stuff" in my opinion. Secondly, does this car have a carb or is it fuel injected? An EA82 non turbo I assume? Good Luck, need more info to really help you, and some pictures of what you have to work with would help also.
  12. I have one of those on my EA wagon behind an EJ22. It's got to go soon - makes my car too loud. The rest of my exhaust is all new, dual port header all custom back to the old rotted out fart can;) Next I need to have a nice and somewhat quieter muffler installed. It looks like your install turned out pretty good. I hope it doesn't drive you or your neighbors crazy
  13. I just did this also, from a 5 speed push button to a D/R. It's a bolt in swap. Grab both shifters, linkage, boots, and center console plastic from a donor car and you should be all set.
  14. Perfect! Thank You. Much better than an old shoe on the floor:D
  15. Agree totally. I can't say enough about the Urethane paints. They are very forgiving (unlike some of the enamels) dry very quickly, and you can easily and quickly blend out a mistake should you have to. You can spray if from a gun or have the color code of your choice put in rattle cans by your local auto paint store.
  16. I just did this going from a push button to a dual range. Just swap the trans harnesses from one to the other - I also had to swap one of the sensors too. You should be able to do it. If that won't work just find a diagram of the connector in the manual and work it out that way.
  17. EA horsepower that is easy and almost free! If you have a fairly fresh engine fill it with Premium unleaded and run the ignition timing from 20 degrees stock up to 24 degrees. It's really easy and it helps wake up an EA82 a little bit. If you keep your foot out of it the increase in mileage will almost offset the difference in price for the premium fuel. Of course all the other listed mods will help too.
  18. Agree! I would love to find that fabric, the checkerboard, or the pimp pattern!
  19. Correct, and it is done to spec. Either the factory spec or one that you specified in order to maintain the proper clamping force on the clutch disc.
  20. If it is difficult, then open the bleeder while turning the piston in. It should get much easier this way. You should also bleed the brakes after doing it this way though.
  21. 34.01 stock, so what is the base circle of the ground cams?
  22. I just finished rebuilding an EA82 and all of the lifters were too hard to push in by hand if that helps any. Cams were stock and there wasn't any clearance between the followers and cams once it was assembled.
