  1. I replaced the Y on my EA81 with the Y from an EA82. Bolts right on. The EA82 header length is a bit more 'cause they didn't have the ASV. So the Y hangs down a bit more. I recall seeing non-cat Y-pipes on fleaBay. NE
  2. Hey Sven, on that manifold assembly... I don't need the carb. I'm gonna put a Weber on my GL.

Are you willing to pull it off for me?

    My zip is 97217.

  3. Sven, I haven't received a PM. Just wanted to make sure this thing works. I see you have gaskets available. I'd take said intake gaskets for the EA81 manifold, as well.

    Thanks,

  4. Hey Sven, I want the EA81 Hitachi manifold. I'm in Portland. Hopefully it's still around.

  6. Hey Reza, I'm in Portland as well. And looking for a drivetrain like yours. Is it still available?

  7. Type of Wrenching: Professional, Shadetree engineer How long doing it: Before Lego Other skills: Handsaw, chisel, mallet Japanese/Scandinavian woodworking, brazing, electronics, drafting, a mean omlette, barista, photography, long walks on the beach Geez, I been turning wrenches since I was wee. My pops is a general aviation mechanic of more than 50yrs, I grew up on tiny airports(Evergreen in east Vancouver, WA:(), so I got to pull inspection panels and crawl into tailcones. Had coaster brakes dialed before I was ten. Car experience started with Corvairs and old Volvos. Drove a '67 VW Kombi for 15yrs. with various mods. Then got into motorbikes, the most enduring interest so far. CB450's are my poison. But if it's aircooled and point ignition, all the better. Have been a professional bicycle mechanic since '91. Getting paid for motorbike wrenching for two years now. Feel like I just did the most laid-back resume ever. NE
  8. The digital clock runs fast in my '83 GL. I could put a piece of tape over it, but it just bugs me. Probably five minutes per 24hr. period. Is there a potentiometer some where? Maybe on the backside of the clock? Did a search, no dice. I know my Soob is slow, but..... Nate
  9. Hey Matt- I've got a top mount starter EA71 engine. I'm in NoPo. Give me a holler.

  10. 1982 was the start for the fat-case EA71s, huh? Of course the answer was so obvious I didn't see it. Thanks, Nate
  11. Hey all, first post here and must say what a great resource this is. Thanks for bein' around. OK, I've got an '83 5spd/2WD/EA81 wagon that is just about to enter orbit around the Moon(225kmiles). Tranny input bearing is getting noisier and the 2nd gear syncro is more and more reluctant. So I'm starting to collect parts for an engine/trans replacement session. What are possibilities of using an EA82 5spd/2wd in my present situation? Been digging around here and haven't found anything definative on this mod. As for now, I'm gonna try the fancy Redline gear oil(75W90 NS) to see if that helps out things somewhat. My car is just a daily driver and I'm not interested in any 4WD mods. That's sorta why I don't think I've found what I'm looking for yet. No EJ swaps either. Maybe someone has a 'low' miles 5spd EA81 tranny they wanna get rid of.... Words of advice/guidance to help me reach the Moon and beyond would be helpful. Nate in PDX
