  1. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Flooded cars are an electrical nightmare and sadly are not worth fixing. Sadly some unscrupulous people wash flooded car titles and sell them to unsuspecting people that have continuous problems afterwards. Apparently I don't know what I am talking about so just disregard what I said
  2. I was having a problem understanding how the airbag clock spring would set the ABS light. Yes the clock spring is a common cause of the Airbag light
  3. According to Subaru all four tires must be within 1/4 inch of circumference. All four tires should be same brand, same size. You likely damaged the clutch pack in the tail end of your transmission (auto) or Viscous Clutch (Manual transmission). You have torque bind. The fuse should not be in place in either car to get AWD. In your owners manual it tells you that if you have to put on the small spare tire to put it on a rear wheel (move the removed wheel to the front if needed) and put the FWD fuse in the holder under the hood. This energizes the Duty C solenoid to put your car in FWD. The intent is that the FWD fuse be put in only when needed.
  4. The "08 will have variable valve timing so the JDM EJ20 won't work and the short blocks vary as well. An appropriate bare Short block from Subaru is north of $1k plus everything else needed plus labor to replace it. If you can do the work yourself may not be a deal breaker. Paying a shop to R&R a bare short block will be an expensive task.
  5. I know on the 99 OBW there was an issue with the actual unit that drove the speedometer/odometer and there were two fixes, one was resoldering the joints and the other was a screw installed in the connector to jam it so that the connection would make. Not sure if these apply to your issue or not.
  6. The Check Engine Light disables the Cruise Control to make you get it looked at. If the Check Engine light is flashing that is usually a sign of a misfire and the car should not be driven. As mentioned above the ABS system is very sensitive to voltage and bad alternators have been known to set the ABS light.
  7. It's a DOHC most after 99/2000 were SOHC and they aren't plug and play. The third post tells you what they will swap into plug and play
  8. It can go in a 98 Forester (they got the SOHC engine in MY99) also 99MY Outbacks. May even fit some Impreza's
  9. Check my post above. It needs a 14.30 mm hole size. There are special helicoil taps to thread them into. Description M14 x 1.25 HSS STI Plug Tap Product Specs: For use with: Helical Screw Thread Inserts Use with Internal Thread Size: M14 x 1.25 Material: HSS (High Speed Steel) Compatible with: Helicoil, Recoil, Perma-Coil, Powercoil or any other standard Helical Screw Thread Inserts Our Screw Thread Insert (STI) Taps are used specifically to create threads for Helical Thread Inserts. STI Taps are oversized so the thread produced will accept a Helical Wire Insert of the same nominal size and pitch - meaning the hole created by the Tap goes back to the original dimension allowing the original fastener to be used. The "Plug" style Tap is ideal for starting or tapping a through hole. The Tap can be used and the Helical Insert can be installed in most materials including aluminum, magnesium, cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel, and plastic. Proudly made in the USA. You need an M14 x 1.25 Screw Thread Insert Tap https://www.amazon.com/Metric-Right-Thread-1-25mm-Pitch/dp/B00N1HULOO
  10. I've left the big 3/4" hose under the intake tube to the airbox before and it does not like running with that hose disconnected (large vacuum leak)
  11. P1137 is the front A/F Sensor (commonly called 02 sensor) P1507 Idle Control System Malfunction (Fail Safe) Maybe try Googling those codes to help troubleshoot
  12. Two 8mm x 1.25 x 50mm and one 8mm x 1.25 x 30mm. Try checking your local Ace or True Value Hardware store for the flanged head bolts. I get mine from there often when I need one in a hurry. I measured those from top of the head to the end of the bolt. Removed from an EJ20
  13. Looks like there is one ground at each door that uses upstream diodes to only illuminate the lights based on what door is opened. Same switch controls the "Room Light" and the Step Lights. Power is available at each light and the door switch provides the ground. Does the Door Open Indicator work for the LF Door when Open?
  14. Wiring likely but difficult to give much advise since we don't know what car you have
  15. M14 x 1.25 14.30MM drill https://www.thorintl.com/Drill-Sizes-HeliCoils-Metric.shtml Google is your friend! About a 9/16 drill bit
  16. It also has the Phase II SOHC engine instead of the DOHC that has internal head gasket leaks
  17. Try this link http://www.ebay.com/itm/Subaru-Alternator-Wire-Harness-Plug-Kit-Oval-Green-WRX-Impreza-Tribeca-STI-2-5i-/291200299780
  18. The full Subaru Part Number for the Turbo Gasket is 11044AA770. This is a Multi-Layer Steel gasket and is the preferred one for most non dealer shops they usually use what is specified/superseded by VIN number. I used them on my EJ20 head installation and they work great!
  19. I believe those that have reported an aftermarket alternator causing random lights had good voltage readings but when they replaced the alternator with a Subaru OEM one (often used from a pull and pay) have eliminated the issue. I do believe in some cases it was the diodes that were causing the issue.
  20. Check at http://opposedforces/parts for your car then check the where used option and it will show if they are interchangable
