Yes. I have been very busy with the whole fire thing. What do you mean by money. The head bolts only cost about $4.00 and the rest should not be that bad either. Plz xplain. -

Sorry allz.... I'm in the fire academy @ the moment and it has been hard to get to the site. Did you get this figured out? . -
Okee Dok. Are they supposed to be behind the rear seats somewhere?

Got an 86 GL-10.... yup the same old one that I just rebuilt. I love the zip in the turbo, by the way. Thanks for all the help. Anyhoo.. I want to put in some shoulder belts in the back. Any know-how? :brow:

GL-10 is great. I have one, but get rid of the lame comp dash<---- no good. GL is a good buy if you find one in good shape. Has a lot of goodies too. Are you going to buy it from the JY? -

Okee Dok...... You find an old volvo 4 cyl that is only 8 valve and the bolts are just slightly bigger.....same length too. Anyhoo after you go to the yard of junk you must tap out the holes with the same thread<-- (get from auto or hardwr store). THis is very easy and you do not even have to drill the hole bigger. -

Axle Roll Pin removal?
danthecarman replied to sube4x4's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
What r u using to hit them out with? I just went to the wrkng yrd to find a new rear end and had the same issue. Took about 2 hrs to get the pins out. They were simply tight. Keep at it and use the right tool like the previous post was saying. -

It has been confirmed now that the heads are indeed swapped to the wrong side. Impressive that it is even possible to do that. I guess on a NA block it would make installs a little easier but less so if turbo'd. Thank you to all who replied. -

Ok..... to everyone. Thanks for all of the reply msgs. I will b on here FOREVER! I am a Subaru fan of about 15 years now! That being said.... I will have to check in the morning and I will let you know if we switched the heads around. I have never dealt with a turbo engine prior to this so I have to think differently I guess. C u all in the morning. -

Yes, that pic does help and confirms that the wrong head was given to us. Which now opens a new can of worms on how to get the right one. This whole ordeal to get this car running again has been one giant lesson in patience. It did not help that the previous owner did a head gasket job and galled the threads in the block on one side. All the threads had to be re-tapped to a larger size and volvo head bolts used (they are slightly larger and amazingly, the same length) who knows if this will hold, but we were able to tighten the head down to the spec'ed torque with no ill issues. After getting a lot of stuff back together, we started to get the turbo ready and that is when I noticed the head lacked the ports for the oil lines and needed to confirm that indeed, we had the wrong head. Thanks for the replies -

Re-torquing heads?
danthecarman replied to spikedbeetle's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I know that this might be a silly question, but did you tighten in the correct order? -

from what I can see there is no way to reverse the heads. There is only one way to do it. The exhaust ports would be facing up if they were reversed. Right? I do believe this to be accurate. -
Ok....So... I put the heads. cams, covers..etc. now we go hook up the turbo and it looks like I got screwed by my machine guy. I think he pulled the old switch-ah-roo on me and gave me a non turbo head. 1986 GL-10 Pic Below is the back side of the passenger side head and we cannot hook up the turbo oil feed and drain lines up to this head. We do not see the bolts or any place to hook the oil lines up too. Does anyone think he swapped our turbo head for a Normally Aspirated head.
