  1. Thats what I was worried about. You need friction for the synchros, but lubrication for the bearings right. Milesfox-your picture or whatever is taking a lifetime to load
  2. who knows. They might have also overfilled the gear oil, because the dipstick had popped up, and there was oil oround there.
  3. I had some Subarubucks to spend, so I decided to let the dealership change my diff fluids, and gear oil. 117,000 miles on the car, I've only owned it for 10,000, who knows if it ever got changed. The dealership showed me the transmission drainplug. There was part of a broken ring stuck to it. not good. So, ever since the new flluids, car has been shifting worse. The diff will shudder sometimes when taking a right turn from a stop or going in reverse. Then yesterday, started out fine then got hard to shift into or out of second gear. Parked car, did my thing. Later, get back in car, and clutch pedal was soft, then would go down and stick, then pop out. Car continued to have 2nd gear problems until warmed up. thoughts? advise?
  4. It lives! Thanks for the help guys. Heli-coiled it. Worked out great. Discovered my other spark plugs were slightly-fairly loose as well. Oops:drunk:. Torqued them down properly. Car has balls now. Oil cooler going on in a few days when I get it. --Todd
  5. Yes, plug hole is worn down and will not take the plug. Yippee
  6. Start with replacing the coolant temp sensor I'd say, its a problematic piece, but cheap and easy to replace.
  7. spark plug would not thread in Going to buy a new plug, in hopes that it's the plug and not the block. If I end up not being able to thread it in, what the hell will I do then?
  8. I know the girl that drives that car. It must have some problems, because she was in love with it last time I talked to her, or maybee it is just problem prone like mine.
  9. ok, thanks guys, I'll give that a try. Ya, I'm up in bellingham all the time. We'll have to meet up.
  10. So car is running good(especially since the addition of a k&n drop in filter), and I'm driving down scenic chuckanut drive, then whap, whap, whap---car won't drive. Timing belts right? Wait 2+ hrs for a tow truck, get it over to my brothers house, start pulling things apart. Got one side of timing belt covers off(maybee its time to go coverless) and belt seemed slightly loose but not broken, didn't get the other side off but, felt through the tentioner holes, and it felt fine? Then the kicker....one spark plug was blown straight out of the hole, what the hell does that mean? Pulg looked absolutely fine. So what should do/check for next tommorrow, when I'm in there. ..And when my legacy is broken down too. Thanks
  11. I hate that hose. The hose actually broke off where i couldn't see or reach it. I ended up taking the fan out to get a better reach with the pliers.
  12. When checking for shaft play, are you just spinning the shaft, or what, I realized I don't exactly know what to check for. Glad your cars alright. I have an oil cooler adaptor on the way, so I will be sure to not let that happen
  13. Gary, I agree with you fully. The RX does have all those pluss's. I just wanted to make sure you knew that It only took a few minor suspension modifications on the legacy to make a huge difference in handling.
  14. NIce collection! I must say my legacy handles much better than the RX, but it has spo rear swaybar, kyb agx adjustable struts, and a Cusco rear strut tower bar, and better tires. The RX is awaiting new bushings, so we'll se what happens then.
  15. I think I saw the same car yesterday on Cook Road. ?
  16. I said "cheap" ...That looks pretty nice, but I'll wait for one of the $150 subaru ones to pop up on ebay.
  17. I expect a full write up, and links to cheap parts:)
  18. man, that sucks. I'm sure whatever step you take next will be great though
