Cool, there's a bunch of lifted subaru guys at the car wash there by the freeway exit. I got back on the freeway, and saw an RX going the opposite direction.

my 84 fleetwood brougham only goes in 1st gear(1 is all you need:brow: ). Someday I'll try to figure out why.

Lets just say the picture did it no justice. Double rainbow, very vibrant colors.

Why do my cooling hoses keep breaking?
tizzle replied to tizzle's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have become a familiar face at the local hose supply shop:rolleyes: -
Go easy on them, those little pieces like to break.

Just lost one of my heating hoses( luckily an easy fix, once I get the hose), looked to be in great condition, but I guess not. Thats the 4th cooling hose in a couple of weeks, and not to mention, the power steering lines had a hole melted in them. So I've pretty much replaced every hose on the car. Is there something that could be causing too much pressure in the cooling system? I replaced the radiator cap a week ago as well.

Tight fit with TWE Header (calling WJM and others)
tizzle replied to Marck's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Are you using the extra bolt holes, or just sticking with the original 2 on each side? Use this time with the engine out to do something creative with the power steering lines, and watch for the metal cooling line like wjm mentioned. -

How to remove the coolant under the turbo???
tizzle replied to Petersubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I just did this the other day, without removing the turbo. I just removed the cooling banjo part as well, this can be a pain too(to re-install), if you haven't done it before. It was an easy job overall. -
I saw one just the other day, driving through town. It was grey and had larger RX decals than mine. It was NICE looking!.

Deadbolt Enterprises Port/Polish Turbo inside
tizzle replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It only took me several hours, nothing like a week. I have an extra turbo, so I figured I would give it a shot -

That's cool, It actually looks exactly the same as mine. (did it with a dremel) Can't really compare old a new though, since I did the headers at the same time. -
Important TWE header information
tizzle replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
And make sure your power steering lines aren't doing the same. Because i had to have new/custom one made, and re-routed them. I don't care I love my twe -
I shouldn't bee expensive to replace them, because they probably will break. I just went to a nearby hose shop, and got 4 different 3 foot sections of hose for under $10

Glad to see you are doing this. I would like to as well at some point. did you see this page? http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~gavinp/airwater.htm

New motor in and running, in a crappy way
tizzle replied to singletrack's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I agree with all the above posts. I had the same exact things happen with my car when I put the new engine in. The ticking went away by simply adding a little bit more oil. The shaky/poorly running/knocking engine syndrome went away after I properly adjusted the timing to spec -
Replace your cooling hoses, make sure you have all your copper washers in with your banjo bolts (4 of them) and torque everything down properly. See what happens.

He can't use a water sprayer for autocross, ...rules. Nothing that would get water on the track.
