  1. yes a real mess indeed. Believe me, I looked for answers. Two car manuals, then I drove to the dealership, and talked to the parts guy, then I even looked through their year specific book, no help. So I've seen those pics, but maybee it goes to an egr solenoid, since I had 2 break and replaced them with junkyard ones, that I think might have been slightly different edit: oh ya, I'm the one that put the duct tape and a plug in there thanks
  2. I know what it does and why I should have one, but the exhaust guy laughed at me when I told him I wanted to put one on, so I rather than being laughed at, do not have a cat
  3. what cat converter? Originally I thought it was the clamp on the oil return line and replaced that with a better clamp. That did not fix the problem, so I thought, maybee I didn't put the gasket in the piece located at the same spot. Well, I guess I didn't so I put one in, but still having the problem.
  4. The part with the duct tape. There is some kind of metal insert inside it, and the hose coming of the other side of the T. The other end goes to the air boot, and there is another part that T's off to the intake manifold, and the cruise control. Any ideas?
  5. You can probably see the smoke. At 1st I thought It was the oil return line, but after I did some stuff with that, the problem persisted. It looks like the oil may be coming from the area around the exhaust side. Maybee somethings not tight or who know's. Is this thing toast? I'm still getting boost. It doesn't sound like its screaming or anything bad, but I don't necessarily know what it would sound like if it was. I got an extra one, but man, what a pain these things are to swap:banghead: red line where oil is visible -Todd
  6. I think the surging problem is now 100% fixed, after I replaced the fuel pump. Finally, ..smooth fuel delivery is great!
  7. Here's an old thread I started http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18165 It's got several members rides, and links to an aussie page with lots of crazy setups
  8. Yes, we need more sound clips. I had a short glasspack put up front right after the downpipe today to cut back the sound, which took the tin can edge off, and then I'll figure out what to do with the rest later. WJM don't you have 2 glasspacks?
  9. Isn't this why people do the parrallel fuel rail mod, because #3 tends to get the short end of the stick?
  10. If I installed a glasspack, it would most likely have to sit in front of the rear axle, right?
  11. honestly, I don't know what series it is, the guy installed it for me.
  12. WJM's car does sound incredible in those Dragon tales video clips..hmm
  13. Cool, thanks guys. I'm going to go to a different shop than the one I went to, because that guy is a tweeker( but he does good work) and see if I can get a dynomax or walker.
  14. I got the techworks header/downpipe, with custom 2.5 piping into a flowmaster muffler. NO cats. And I can't stand the way it sounds!!! It's obnoxious. Sounds great at idle but, then you get going and get this gurgly tin can/ fart can sound that overpowers the good sound, and it sounds like a toyota pickup. Is this just because of the flowmaster? should I try having a resonator put in or a cat, or what? I guess I would rather have no noise, than have it sound like this.
  15. http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3569&highlight=grounding It's definitely worth a try on the RX, but I don't think I'll worry about it on the legacy.
  16. this is just what I need. My bushings are toast.
  17. Check the idle air control valve, sometimes these get stuck. might as well check your timing. Could be coolant temp sensor, these get corroded. There's more I'm not thinking of
  18. Ya, I did this mostly because of the power steering lines and whatnot, but also for any possible performance gains...oh ya, and it looks so pretty. It was $120 with tax I think.
  19. just for the ea82-t.....Oh yah, forgot to mention the company that did this was http://www.performancecoatings.com out of Auburn, WA. I recommend them highly.
