ea81t surging - throttle stop adjustment?
tizzle replied to Ross's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I started a thread about the exact same problem a couple weeks ago. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=28929&highlight=rx+jerking I did several things. Turns out the timing was way off, and 2 of the spark plug wires on the distributor had the connections receded into the boot. I fixed that and it made a large difference, but the problem still persisted slightly. Then I ran 2 different fuel system cleaners as well. This also helped. I also replaced my fuel filter which was nearly brand new, problem still not solved entirely. ... I'm thinking that the fuel pump may solve the problem completely. -
2000 degree titanium colored satin coat. Just sounds pretty. Got the headers on yesterday. I don't know how Will did this in 15 minutes, because it took me a very long time. I had to replace the turbo cooling hoses with longer ones due to the new placement of the turbo, but luckily I have extra hosing sitting around. I also did a port/polish on the extra turbo I had sitting around. So part of the time I spent was on replacing the turbo. The results I'm very happy with. Definitely more power, and in places where it never existed before! So now I gotta figure out how to finish of the exhaust system, and put the downpipe on. ---todd

If anyone cares. My car came with a vf48710, and the jdm motor I put in came with a vf28603. I don't really know if theres any difference other than the original one makes more noise, which I like
-
I hope not, thats the one I just took off:banghead:
-
ya, both the original turbo, and the one that came with my jdm engine look almost exactly the same, except some brackets are different, but the vf and serials #'s are way different
-
what about a part # for a coil, 88 RX? napa would work.

Thats on blanchard Mtn. It was a crazy drive, tight turns on loose gravel, mud, and snow:) That thin strip of land you can see is Samish Island. I live on the middle of that. -

In the las month the weather here has gone from temps in the teens, up to the 70's, and back down to snow temps. We got some snow yesterday in certain spots, so I had to go drive in some. that is all. ---todd

Wouldn't hurt to check the hoses going to the turbo for cracks, bad connections. -

Okay, it wasn't NEARLY that cold here, but I spent a lot of time outside or in an unheated garage working on getting the RX running a couple weeks ago. The weather got into the teens, and I think it ws almost 70 today:confused: -
This happened to me. It was the worlds biggest pain. We spent a good couple days, heating it, spraying it, hitting it, prying it, and swearing at it. Tried an easy out CAREFULLY, yet unsuccessfully, but It looks like you got that stuck, which makes the way we finally got it off difficult. WE just kept slowly drilling down that bolt, until the intake manifold had almost no bolt left to stick to, good luck, i feel your pain.

oK, thanks, I was kinda wondering if it was supposed to. It's just a little odd. Ok, found this place nearby that does good work for good prices. http://www.performancecoatings.com/ So, I might take my exhaust from both my subies down there.
