  1. anybody out there know which stereo wires do what in my car's wiring? ignition hot is easy, ground's easy, constant hot I'll add to it. but for the speakers, what color are the one's running to the rear, pos and neg? I did do a search, but my halfass attempt came up empty. somebody help a guy out who's not talented enough to track down this info?
  2. oh man I know! I was thinking of pinning it with some decent poly Protofabs, but...I don't really care all that much I guess. it latches! and it adds to it's character! thanks y'all for the props on my trim job. I actually took the time to measure it all out, and took my time to keep it all consistent. even my wife came out afterwards and said, "I thought you were going to cut the fenders?" ha!
  3. maybe it is luck...but mine is terrible I guess. I ended up rebuilding the stockers, after a total of 4! "new" axles from autozone that were just awful. a couple started clicking before I'd left the driveway! :-\
  4. and this is her back together. total frontend rebuild, obviously:banana: 6 lug hubs and isuzu wheels with 195x75-14 BFG ATs. no lift. took a little sawzall work to let it all fit cuz the wheels have less offset than the little 13s did. took over 3" from the front fenders, and just about 1.5" from the rear. even at full turn it has full articulation, so I'm happy with it!
  5. Howdy y'all, been here for a bit and never had any pics...here's some. a pic of when I bought it (after I got it running haha), and then a couple pics showing what happens to a frontend when pullin a dukes of hazard moment (not enough sleep + deer = d'oh!)
  6. tried a junkyard? It's not really a high wear item, so it shouldn't be too hard to scrounge up a good used one
  7. you get it all finished? you have any more pics? this summer my Baja's gettin a lift too:) looks to me like the lower fender edges could be "reworked" a bit to gain a bit more room
  8. a camo tarp!? neato! jk man I've driven mine in the snow as much as I can...and I've gotten used to it's idling at like 200 rpm. This thing is so much fun to drive around in the slick stuff, it's just ridiculous
  9. I went and talked to a local machinist (Superior Metal Products just north of castle rock, co) about what I wanted to do. $100 and 2 days later, I had lug hubs.
  10. There is a "U-pull" auto parts in Fountain, Co. I haven't been there in a while, but 90% of the time they have at least 1 of 'em in stock.
  11. If I were going to build one that big, it's have early bronco flares for sure
  12. I cut my fenders out too, and have thought about flares. If I do get around to it...I'll measure the new openings size, then go to a junkyard and find a truck with approximately the right size wheel well, and then just order flares for that model.
  13. used to be, I'd say, nope it isn't worth it. but after fixing/breaking/rebuilding my 84GL...I now think yeah it's worth that much
  14. welcome aboard! being a subaru, you might hafta wait a while before you need to ask questions! my 84 (220k miles) gives me very little grief (unless I beat on it too hard imitating the dukes of hazzard:slobber:). the only leak mine has is on the passenger side of the trans...it seeps, but I never need to add oil:banana:
  15. often times emissions doo-dads can give ya grief too, and act just like a carb problem. I kinda like the hitachi, but all the stuff plugged into it pisses me off! good luck resolving it!
  16. could be the backing plate rubbin on the rotor. they're pretty close together, and it doesn't take much to get 'em to contact
  17. I have an '06 Baja, and I think the 225x60-16s we have are about the biggest we're gonna be able to fit...without a lift or fender mods. shouldn't be too hard to track down a good AT tire.
  18. The Hankook Ipike really is an excellent snow tire. my other favorite is made by Cooper, but I can't remember what they call it. The hankook is better in slush.
  19. you definitely can feel that there's more unsprung weight. but I can still drive like a maniac pretty well even over some gnarly washboards and/or washouts. the speedometer's off, and my seat of the pants dyno says I lost some horsepower (as if I'm passing anybody anyway:burnout:, and I haven't calculated the actual fuel mileage yet (I est. 25 or so), but still... I can go get a tire/wheel pretty much anywhere I want, whenever I may need it. that counts for a lot!
  20. I looked for Pugs. and looked and looked. I hated the redrilled wheel option...so I spent about $100 on machine work for all 4 hubs, and got some old 6 lug Isuzu 14s for $50. they do stick out a bit more, but I'm not afraid of the sawzall:rolleyes: so they fit great with 195x75-14 BFG ATs
  21. neato! I've gone through a couple old Norton Commandos. old british bikes rule!
