  1. "......surrounding the output shaft/stub is a retainer which holds the seal. the retainer has spokes/fins radiating from the center. there is a bolt which keeps this retainer from turning, remove the bolt and the retainer will unscrew........" Does anyone know how much to re-tighten the retainer? Is there a preload spec etc.? It has to matter, to prevent premature bearing/gear wear. Thankyou, Keith
  2. Any help on this is appreciated, Once again, thankyou for your time and your help Keith
  3. "...unscrew the circle part by catching the ribs with a punch and hammer".... I haven't found any info on how much tighten them back. Seems like over tightening may reduce bearing life. Any info is appreciated. Thankyou, Keith
  4. Any ideas/answers on this? Thankyou Keith
  5. Will the sticking gov problem affect reverse also? When cold, reverse takes a while to engage (2nd to 3rd also untill warm, as expected). It locks in fine (not mushy going into gear) but takes a minute or so to engage. Fluid and filter are clean, no burnt smells. I cleaned the gov but have not deburred it yet.
  6. I run my 85 GL-10 wagon with no covers. Old ones were too damaged to stay in place. Since most of my driving is hwy, I don't worry much about rocks etc getting between the belts and pullys. It really makes aligning the belts tough though, not having the cam marks. Had to eyeball the cam positions when installing belts, but "seems" to be aligned ok. Keith
