usually the backfire (actually called afterfire, backfire comes out the carb) is cause by the anti-dieseling cylinder on the carb, there's an easy test for it if it's a small little "puff" then mine does that too, I think it's just standard equipment -
had a little fun last weekend http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2998689951909712322

I have a 2" back off the header mated to a turbo muffler, sounds pretty good, kind like yours, but mine is a 1.6L carbed engine I believe the 2" keeps the bottom end decent -
I'm one of the three, there are some sandy areas near the beach you can drive on but the beach is prohibited because of the sea turtles where did you hear WPB might have some?

Welcome! your going to love that car look for my video when I find a place to host it -
Thanks guys, I'm really loving this car, my fiance noticed how much I'm buying for it and called it my "favorite" now, since I'm selling my Buick I guess it is Kost, yeah I don't want to cut those so I cut behind them and bent them up, it's a bit better now, still need to do a little more luvr, too bad your not coming to the cruise, you could have seen it in person (it's gonna be great the wagon among 60 Imprezas) the knob came with the car, I thought it might be original but it doesn't have the shift patern on top, definatly vintage though moosens, I'm already there man, check out the last pics, I had to go with a better rack (it's thule too, funny I bought it used from Washington), now I just need a way of putting my spare up there so nobody has a place I can load my video , it's soooo sweeet
