I'm gonna keep my eye on this. I have thought about Autox, but never thought about using my GL. Could be fun, and maybe I could get a few ideas.

Are there any other good ways to line up things for drilling the wheels? I don't have a hub to use.
-
Is anyone even drilling a five lug pattern?
-
I'm kinda interested in the same thing. I'd like to find out I can get my hubs redrilled to 4x114.3
-
Lets see some more of that please.

What's the lowest someone has gone? Most of the pictures of lowered cars don't show up on here.

I had a control arm rust up and break. No big deal, no one was hurt and the car made it home fine. I got a replacement on pretty quickly. Trouble is, I can't get the bolts out of the car to get the old one off. I have a pretty long breaker, an impact gun and I've even put heat on them. Has anyone else run into this? Next step is a long pipe on the breaker I guess.

Yes, they did check the alternators at autozone, I even had advance check them (and Napa). The first 1 was not making enough voltage and failed at autozone. The second one they gave me failed at advance and napa, but not autozone somehow. I have been checking the wiring and there was some bad stuff going on with the alternator ground wiring. The wires had been cut at some point and just tied in together. I tried straightening that out by attaching new connectors and now I've even attached a jumper from the alternator ground to the battery. It's still only seeing 11.95 on the battery or straight from the alternator. I suppose I'll start looking for a garage to take it to. :|

Ok, I have to ask, because I think I've searched everything and not found an answer. Let me simplify this long story. We have a 98 Legacy Outback 5 speed. My alternator went bad. It was not making voltage. The indicator in the dash was on. I bought an Autozone one and it was making 11 volts and 30 amps, so I took it back. They gave me another one and my car died the next night after turning on the headlights. It was making about 10 volts. So they give me my money back ( begrudgingly) and I get one from Napa. It seems to be making 8 volts. I have a new battery and all wires have continuity. My questions: Are these alternators really this bad? (likely not) Is there some computer control I don't know about? Is there possibly some short in the system? Where do I go next? :-\

Gl10 and Loyale differences?
soultron replied to soultron's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I was hoping so. Just never asked... glad i did though, now I can buy a window! -
I can't seem to find the right terms to search, but the simple question is what parts interchange between the gl10 and loyales? I'm having trouble finding a gl10 window, but there's a few loyales around town. So, how dumb does that come off?

Ugh oh... sunroof won't close.
soultron replied to soultron's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Motor is fine, but that might be good info later... ugh, down... Ah perspective and patience. That did it, just pulled in DOWN out of the way. I was hinking it went up for some reason. Thanks! -
So I bought this GL10, and I'm just getting it running right and such. Today I tried to open the sunroof and it was fine. Ran smooth and all. But now, it won't shut. The windscreen thing seems to be coming down too early and getting in the way. Is there possibly an adjustment for this?

86 mpfi, can't read codes
soultron replied to WoodsWagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong either. I have the right wires disconnected ( I think), but my light just blinks at a set interval. I'm getting a CEL when it's running... -
North Carolina Subarus

Old thread, but I'm in NC looking for other owners too. -
Hi USMB! I'm the new owner of THIS! This is my 3rd after a pair of 96 and 98 legacy outbacks. I'm mostly interested in keeping it running, but the turbo bug will bite at some point. An intercooler is on the agenda and possibly a hub swap. I look foward to enjoying the board and learning alot. Rock.
