  1. Got the new t-stat in and test ran it. No overheating. It also seams the piston slap has subsided. Took some rubbing compound to the headlights. Now they are back to looking new.
  2. After looking over the Wagon, I found that the lower half is not paint. It is a heavy colored cover. In one place where it had been scratched off you can see the red under it.
  3. I am getting ready to work on restoring the shine on the Wagon and have a question. I will be using rubbing compound and do not know if it can/should be used on the lower half. Is the entire lower half a cover or is it paint with a pin stripe above?
  4. Wife brought up a good point. The trim and lower half are gray. Going to have to photoshop a few pics to see how it looks.
  5. Hmmm, now that is tempting. Anyone have a pic of one on a red wagon?
  6. Can the scoop on a 98 OBW be removed/replaced? Just noticed the paint was completely chipped off.
  7. I'm parting out my 81 Brat. I know where the mounts are, do they bolt onto the frame or are welded? (Not looked at them aside from unbolting the engine.)
  8. Well, N. KY had it's first successful gathering yesterday. Turnout, 2. The event started out as a Jeep gathering and my wife and I were invited (she's the Jeeper). My wife was sick so I was in attendance along with the host's brother who is a Subie enthusiast. When the Jeep guys headed out, it left the two of us and the jeep brother. Cars in attendance: 98 OBW and a Imp Wagon. Not bad for a non scheduled event.
  9. Just a thought in the raffle area. My folks are pewtersmiths and specialize in event medaillions. They can do custom work and engraving as well. (http://www.dirkandthistle.com). Could look into a USMB medaillion. One board I am on offered anniv. items for renewal of membership. The first year is a pewter pin of the site logo. This could be an idea as well. I like the overall feel and form of the board and it is the reason I came to this board and continue to do so. I am not fond of the other Subie sites for the reasons already mentioned. I am not a mod nut, drive older Subies, and do not have the BigusDickus complex I found on the other boards. What about the possibility of hosting a server at home? I'm not real knowledgeable in the area but I know there were sites I went to that were self hosted.
  10. Swapped out two misfiring injectors, replaced a missing hose clamp, tightened the e-brake lever. Took the Wagon out on it's maiden voyage tto work and all went well. No codes, flats, parts rattling down the road. Such an improvement from the rough commute in the Brat. Oh, and did I mention a radio?? I can actually listen to music now!
  11. After swapping out two injectors I fired up the engine. When I shut it down I noticed a electrical crackling sound and traced ti to this piece; I could not find my book and am not sure what it is. Could someone enlighten me?
  12. Got it home and washed it up yesterday before it rained. Slapped one on each side and on the hatch. My wife's Jeep friends threatened to tag it with those stick figure family decals because I said I didn't want perminate booster seats in the back like the Jeep, I thwarted their plans by adding the family badge. HA!
  13. Welcome to the board. Cool pics of the Warwagon. I imagined the Punisher skull on the hood.
  14. That's the one. Thought I was off a few lbs there.
  15. Good lookin ride ya got there. Almost feel like the movie 9 Pounds knowing there are a few transplants from my now dead brat. Got that part out to you finally. Should see it in a few days.
  16. Now that the wagon is finally alive I need some further help. Can anyone post pictures/video of the set-up in relation to the PCV valve. We are missing a few things such as purge solenoid and don't have a visual reference to how things are set-up. We have looked over the sticker on the hood but it only shows outlines. Actual images would be great. Thank you
  17. Got the clutch slave installed, exhaust remounted, fuel lines connected correctly, clutch system bleed, new radiator installed and fingers crossed. Turned the key and the Wagon came to life! After two months of working on it, waiting on parts at every turn, I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
  18. Funny you should mention that. One of the bugs we have to work out had to do with lack of power and rough running. When we pulled the plugs on the drivers side they were black and no sign of firing. When we got to the other side there was a tremendous heat difference and the plugs looked like they should when firing. New plugs in and new wires in route.
  19. UPDATE The Wagon fired up today! First time in 4 years. I was even able to drive it for a bit! Still got bugs to work out but IT IS ALIVE!!!!!!!
