Being the neutral wire from the ecu is only one wire, do I just ground the other wire from the plug at the transmission? Ecu is just seeing that as a open or closed circuit right?
-
Hey thanks Matt. That actually helps a lot.

88 Rx Check Engine Light wire
Naked Buell replied to Naked Buell's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Unfortunately, no I do not. -
Yes, I thought taking it to the clutch switch as well, but the 88 Rx doesn't have a neutral switch, hence the question what to do with it????? Thx

Hey guys need your help. Almost finished with wiring the Ej into my 88 Rx but I have some questions. For the starter wire from the ecu, do I just splice that into the small wire already on the starter? And, second, for the neutral wire from the ecu, do I just ground that wire so the ecu thinks the clutch pedal is depressed for start-up?? My wifes RS was a manual and you had to have the clutch pedal depressed, even though the car is in neutral, for the car to start. Any of you that have done this, please chime in. Thanks guys.

Thanks Matt. I will check it out.

Hey all. I am trying to splice in the wiring from my 88 Rx to a 93 Ej 2.2 and the wiring diagrams I have aren't jiving. On the Ea I have: 1 big white wire, black/white stripe, & white/red stripe On the Ej I have: 1 big white wire, black/white stripe, & yellow Obviously, big whites go together, I know the white/red stripe is the charge light on the Ea. Which one from the Ej is the charge light? Or, does someone know another way to figure this out?????? Please advise. Thx

Hey thx Matt for responding. I'm doing my best trying to understand what is needed. When you read through some of the info on the write up, there is things that are assumed to be known and some of us aren't 100% sure of things like some of you subaru nuts. That is what I need help with. Now see, I would have just wired it right to the rad. fan. Thx for the info.

So when you do a Ej to Ea swap, on the ECU, there is a wire for the radiator fan, I am thinking, the ECU controls the fan. But, on the Ea cars, you have a sensor on the radiator that controls the fan. My question is, Do I have to run the wire from the ECU to the radiator fan or can I just leave it the stock way on the EA cars? Thx guys. I appreciate your help. There is a lot of info on this site with you guys.

Hey guys. Working on my Ej into my Rx and was having trouble locating the Check Engine Light wire in the Rx to connect to the Ej ECU. Does anyone know off hand? Thx in advance.

Hey guys, have a 85 Brat, I'm looking for the little fasteners that slide onto the interior trim piece and then you snap the whole piece in. Any ideas??? Not the normal size ones, the baby version ones.

I'm also sorry to hear about your father. Mine is getting up there too and has fallen off of 2 ladders that have changed my Dad in ways only a son can understand. Please don't think what you write about fixing or what you have found out and put on the site is pointless. When looking how to do something, I look for your threads first. I like how thorough you are and with the pics too. It helps out a lot and please please don't stop the great work. Your Subie Brother across the globe, Naked Buell, aka Joe PS, I'm looking for the little plastic push on fasteners for the interior trim around your head, its in a 85 Brat. Not the common size, the little ones that slide onto the trim itself and then you just pop the interior piece on. Any ideas to find them? Amazon has the normal ones but I can't seem to find the little ones. -

EA81 oil pump replacement
Naked Buell replied to SiriusBlack's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Honestly, unless u found someone who had one in good shape u would be better doing an ej swap. I know, I know, but parts and power and fuel injection, better to save for that up grade. Without an oil pump the motor is obsolete. That is what i had to face myself. My 85 Brat has an 2.2T. -
A cool 80 wagon GL would be a cool find and Ej update.

Just waiting for the muddy roads to dry up so I can take my trailer over there and rescue her.

New brat owner needs help!
Naked Buell replied to Wannabebrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well if pump is pumping, take off the line right at carb, have someone crank and see if you are getting fuel right at the carb and then work backwards. -
I will put that on my check list.

Life does keep us busy. High school and homework and some chores doesn't look so bad when you look back.
