Wow, glad you are okay. Oh and by the way, I get made fun of all the time, but I always wear safety glasses. I have smith and wesson shooting glasses every where and I always wear them. It is only one time and you are "beeped", if you know what I mean. Seriously, I always wear safety glasses, all day while working as an electrician and in my shop. I am constantly bitching at my dad to wear them when he should.

Ok then if it was running great 6,000 miles ago and then all of a sudden, and then you replace it and it doesn't start??? Come on dude. Go back and double check everything. Something isn't hooked up or something is wrong. I did a timing belt in my 2.2T and cranked and cranked and was like WTF. Then I went back through the procedure as if I hadn't done it and come to find out, on the crank, there is 2 different marks and I went off the front of the sprocket mark when once I read through it slowly realized that it was referring to the second mark on the back of the sprocket. Changed it and the car fired right off. I was smacking myself. So that is why I say double check. Use logic. It ran fine until the belt failure and now nothing. Double check. I wouldn't think you would have bent valves because it would still run but like crap. So, start from the beginning and double check.

Miles on engine? Like GD stated, he has never seen one break. It is pretty basic. If you can follow instructions to make cup cakes you can follow instructions to make sure your car has the timing belt set up right and running right. Don't be afraid. Subaru made these cars as if a mechanic designed it. The more you know the more you will see that it is easy to know if your mechanic really knows what he is talking about or if he is taking you for a ride. I had a girl friend that I taught about Subaru's and she would stub the guy at the parts store.

Suspension improvements for Subaru Loyale
Naked Buell replied to Loyale 2.7 Turbo's topic in Suspension
Ok, I pulled out the info. I have files on each Subaru I have and keep the receipts and notes. So, on the front of my 88 Rx, I purchased 1990 XT struts; Monroe part# 32271877, & 32271876. One is Rt and one Lt, but the invoice doesn't say, just check on RockAuto and make sure you have the Left and Right. Then I put the stock springs back on. Rear; 1998 Toyota 4Runner, 2.7, Monroe Strut, which is for the "front of the 4Runner", part # 801352. I purchased 2 of them. I also purchased 88 Rx Moog strut mounting hardware, Part# K90232, two of them, which I ended not using so you don't need those, and I also purchased 88 Rx Strut Bellow, part # 901076 (901-076@RD1), 2 of them. The only modification I had to do was, on the rear where the bottom of the strut goes into the saddle, I had to put a spacer washer on each side of the strut to remove side to side slack. But it fit perfect with the two washers. I reused my rubber pieces on top of the strut, they were still good. Here are some pics of the install. This is the rear. This is the front. It definitely stiffened it up and I always felt the Rx sat slightly lower in the rear from the front stock. But afterwards it has the rear sitting slightly higher than the front and it definitely gave her some more attitude. I will get a pic the whole car when I put the rims back on; painting them and center caps. Hope this helps. -

I have. I purchased the Front struts for the 4 Runner and then put new honda springs on them, and installed on rear of my Rx. -

Why not? According to the manual it had two settings and I can't find where it said the "High" setting raised it but just put a little in at a time and don't go crazy but see if you can find what the High setting was and make a measurement before you start and see what happens. Plus you will be able to see if they are leaking.

So could I do the same method for an ea82?

1989 ea82 turbo removal? (cooling related)
Naked Buell replied to washwagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Oh and by the way, take it apart and take the hoses down to the Subaru Dealer with you. They are idiots down there and I had to so them what to get. As a matter of fact, I showed the guy up so bad that there was another guy in a suite standing behind the counter watching the whole scene. He kept pulling up the wrong car and I recognized from the pics that it was the wrong car. Once I showed him the part # and zhowed them they actually did have the part, after being told a dozen times it wasn't there, the guy in the suite offered me a job. But I refused cause I make more as an electrician. -
Ok Bratman now I am curious about this. Can you do a dumming posting and pics and be specific because this actually may be an option vs the adapters and would like to weigh the differences. Thx too, I know we are all busy.

Yes, go to the dealer in Gorst and get the actual turbo exhaust gaskets and the hoses. Yes there is the oil line on top, the metal hard line. Beware of taking it off. Bolt, washer, through metal line, washer. Make sure you put back together same way. Once you take off the top hard line you will see what I mean. Just take your time and pay attention to detail. I always take pics to refer back to double check. -
4x140 - 5x100 Wheel Adapters
Naked Buell replied to Naked Buell's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Actually I took as info from that post as I could for my friend who has the mill so I can show him what they need to be. We are also going to purchase a Digital Read out Turn Table so we can go from centerline and then just rotate the table. You basically need it and can be dead on to the thousands. The table is like $1000 but I told him I would go halves with him and then we can make more plus other things. -

Nice job dude. It looks like you have a few subies from the pics. The XT6 next to the trailer looks like a nice one too. I didn't know the XT had the weird steering wheel.??? -

Its way easier to remove the turbo. Not that hard either. Remove the exhaust bolts and then the turbo and the coolant hose you can get to no problem. Just be easy with the exhaust bolts, don't break them.
