  1. I had that problem with my Ea-81 and it was the distributor wasn't advancing under load. It reved just fine but had no power when driving. I had the dist. rebuilt and it fixed the problem. The guy said the diaphragm in the dist. breaks down and you have a vacuum leak basically.
  2. Easier to relocate when younger. If you are a hard worker and resourceful you can make things happen. Statistics show people move every 5 years. I didn't believe it and every time I relocated it was about that exact time. Be safe and take care of the Brat. I have one too.
  3. I mean "move"; it looks like another state. I moved from Seattle to Eastern Wa area, rural. Super nice people. Small town, if you are a scum bag people know and if you are a nice person, people know that too. Plus, it's type of people in general, not the race, which I am sure you know. Good and bad no matter what the race. Remember, nothing is impossible. That sucks about "just" buying the house, but I am sure now you are thinking about moving. There is nothing worse than feeling like you or your possessions are not save. That security is worth more than what you think you may be losing to relocate. Plus I've learned, even though you may have money or are successful, don't show it. Live simple and they think you don't have anything. It's a protection. Bible advice. You can't lose with advice from the man upstairs.
  4. That leaves two options. Arm yourself and protect your property, or better choice, time to move. I know it sounds like a lot but I did it myself and have never regretted it. I was in San Antonio for a bit while in the military; I understand. I would be moving to a nicer area. Plus, take the keys with you. Don't leave them at home but, then they would probably just hurt the car. Which brings us to the second option again. Time to move. It sucks but then again, it doesn't. You will be happier in the long run.
  5. Real scum bags out there. Be careful guys and be observant. And be smart, especially if you have ones scouting on your cars. Maybe its time for some cameras. Pretty cheap nowadays.
  6. Was that stock for the 88 GL or had someone changed it? I believe all Rx's came with them with the center Diff lock right? Correct me if I am wrong Subie Bros.
  7. Nope. Gone already before I got the car. It was pretty much stripped already. I just grabbed the front lights for me and the part for Dragon and already scrapped it. But I have 2 more to get. So let me know what you guys are looking for and I will snag what I can. I have everything for my Rx so it is just extra goodies for my Subie bros.
  8. Okay Subaru Buffs, Did the GL-10's come with a LSD rear end????
  9. That is what mine will be finished but not so low. 4" sjr lift.
  10. So I stopped and talked with the owners, I'm picking up the whole car tomorrow. The first thing I checked was to see if it had your part and it does. Score on your part. Think of anything else you may need and I will see what the car has.
  11. Okay. I will going up to do an electrical job in an area where I know where a couple of them are and will touch bases with the people and see what I come up with. I will let you know.
  12. Well if you want, I know where some turbos cars are where I am at. I used to live in Port Orchard; moved over to eastern Wa. about 5 years ago. If you are serious about it, I will get one and send it to you. What do you think?
  13. Tell me the year you are looking for. Yes you said 86, is there a difference between the years or any turbo ea-82 will work?
  14. Nice. I never liked those. Plastic! Really people. With the heat and then cooling off its only a matter of time before they break. I am really gentle with mine. Glad it worked out.
  15. R you serious? That is not what I wanted to hear. I have not put the spacer on yet, as it looks as if I will need to get longer studs for the carb. I tore the whole thing apart, checked and rechecked the float level before only to have it do the same thing. I have put the pressure regulator on it, it did nothing, I have the stock brat fuel pump on it, not sure what you mean for the fuel return. I have the stock fuel filter set up where it can bleed off what it doesn't use. It just isn't right, if you know what I mean. I did buy it from Redline Weber for the Subaru, 32/36 DGAV. I am really disappointed with it. I regret changing it from the Hitachi. It ran so smooth with the Hitachi. I listened to everyone else say they are crap and changed it, and it has been a struggle ever since. I would love to see some pics of what you did. I really appreciate the info. Let's keep this conversation going. Tell me your numbers for the tubes and jets please and I will compare.
  16. I would try heating the area, either with running the engine and watching the temp on car, or with a propane or mapp torch, but before you do that, is there enough material to do a small pilot hole in plastic and then slightly bigger to the point where you can either unscrew it out or carefully break it out and put new one in.
  17. Wow. That is nice. I like it. That is what I would of done if I had one.
  18. Nice score dude. I have an 85, but I have updated her all the way around. If she is running good, drive her as long as you can and start saving and acquiring Ej stuff to swap over. More parts and more power, better driving, in my opinion. I have a whole front clip, "legacy struts and engine mount" with a 4" lift on my Brat. I have the 2.2T in mine. Close to firing her off. I took the original brat motor and transferred her into my 88 Rx. I have always like how reliable the ea-81 is, bummer you can't get engine parts for her anymore. No more oil pumps. So drive her until she quits, or change to the ea-82, or better an Ej engine. They only lack power and ground clearance.
  19. Yes it did have the float adjusted. That was the first thing I thought of. Everything seemed fine, other than, with the car off, you could see the fuel still dripping into the carb, which, after investigating, found that it was vapor locking. I just got the phenolic spacer, will let everyone know how it turns out.
  20. Well that is figuring out the time and cost like you said to be affordable. What is the biggest cost? I would bet some of us on here would be investors for the project. What are some of the expenses? I don't even know what a good 3D printer would cost. I think you have something here Dave. Think of all the things we could make that you can't get anymore. Well, like you said, start small first and once it shows promise, a bank or other business investors would see it would be profitable. I didn't think I would do well with my business and it has been better than I expected, being an Electrical contractor. But with the small stuff, think of the parts first that everyone needs that you could make a lot of and then you could scheduled bulk orders, paid for in advance. That is what I worried about with my customers and I have them pay me in advance of half of my estimates, so if anything, I'm only out my time, not money out of pocket. And customers can't throw the money at me fast enough. Just remember, supply and demand, you can do something that I can't do, as well as others. It is the same with Scott in Bellingham. You pay first and then he fills the order. It would be a good business and something that people would be sending you molds to make left and right. Save to a file and print away. Just my 2 cents.
  21. Hey guys, I'm sure one of you know this just by reading. I think I am remembering right but not sure. The two up by the wiper motor is " I think", one supply-big one, smaller one evap?, and the other down by the steering shaft was the return? Is that right? Any help? Thx guys.
  22. Yep, I have changed the fuel pump. It has been a bit since I have been able to work on it and trying to remember. I hate getting pulled off your project. Thx for the info. I'll see if I can find the brat lines in my old Hayes.
