  1. Hey guys. I am sure someone knows this right off hand. I have a 2.2T that is in a 85 Brat. Can someone help me with the engine bay fuel lines hook up. I have two lines at the corner by the wiper motor for the brat, one big and one smaller and then one down by the steering shaft. I have three on the engine. Two big and one small. I don't have a clue what is what. My manuals suck. Pics r very helpful. Thx guys.
  2. Nice find. 94? Wow. In the states we only got to 87 before they quit making them. And yes, my 84 GL wagon was the exact same thing to my 85 Brat. From the pics it looks exactly the same. To be sure I would check with a 94 GL wagon and compare and see. I have a 85 Brat with a 2.2T. I am almost ready to fire her off. That thing is going to be sick. You might want to think about strengthening the frame to compensate for twisting under load.
  3. Wow. Nice work dude. I have been moding mine for sometime as well. I have a 2.2T in my Brat. Haven't fired it off yet but have been foaming at the mouth her for years. I love the fender flares. I might have to do that to mine. Being you are racing it, you might want to think about Line-X ing the whole car. I did it to my Rx. White of course. I have some pics online here of it. People are always wanting to touch it. We have a lot of dirt roads where I am at and lots of logging trucks. Window chips and stuff. Didn't want to spend all this money on paint to have it chipped. Love the build. Wish I lived close by to learn some fab work from you. Looks great. Keep it up. Joe.
  4. Wow. Didn't even think of that; and I'm an electrician by trade. I will try that and lubing them. Thx
  5. It has been a while since I have been on, what an awesome idea about the trim parts. 3D printing. Wow. This is great. I'm definitely following this. I would be a sure customers if this happens in the future. Dave T, you said you hadn't thought to this as a business; you should. Supply and demand brother. You could do other vehicles not just Subies. Just trying to plant a seed. If I knew how to do it, I would be all over that. Thanks for the service Dave T.
  6. Hey everyone. So I have been dealing with this Weber problem for some time. I have an 88 Rx that of course the Ea82T is junk and I got rid of it. I put a completely rebuilt Ea-81 into just for the reliability of having it run like all the Ea-81's. But with the Weber, every time I shut her off for more than say 10-15 minutes, she is hard to start and you have to be precise with your foot and the gas to get her to start. Once started she is fine. Well, I found some info online today that I wanted to share. One guy I found, FINALLY, had the same issues I was having, yet it was on a Mazda truck that had the weber. He would drive 5 miles down the road to the parts store and if he was in the store for more that 10-15 minutes, it was hard to start. Well, he found out, while experimenting, that the intake was getting so hot that it was transferring to the carb and atomizing the fuel while the car was off, and basically flooding it. They make a spacer made out of Phenolic/ Bakelite that is like $30 with the shipping that keeps the carb cooler. It fixed his problem and he even gained a little from having more space to atomize the fuel before ignition. Before he said he couldn't touch the carb it was so hot, but now, it keeps it way cooler, to even touch after a long drive. So I ordered one today. I wanted to share with you guys. I have been dealing with this for some time. I hope this fixes my problem. I will post what comes of it.
  7. Is there a part number for the o-rings you guys are mentioning?? After you said "air" it makes sense.
  8. Hey guys. Noticed on my wife's 07 impreza that it sounds like I have a Ford power steering pump on the Subie. I got the car with 24,000 miles and it is now at 145,000. Is it time to replace it??
  9. No I'm talking about how SLOW they are. When its rainy normally it seems I need them on high. But maybe you are right. I need to take them apart and lube the things like crazy.
  10. No I'm talking about the motors in the older GL's. The Ea82's are better, way better than the Ea81's. I want upgrades for the ea81 wiper motors; not the wipers themselves.
  11. Hey guys, like everyone who has an "EA" knows that the whole wiper motor situation just plain "sucks". Does anyone know how to improve them? I was thinking of stealing one off an Ej and somehow make it work. Any thoughts or ideas?
  12. I went to the section here on 80's Older Stuff, where I posted this, went up into the search button and just typed in ea81 power steering pump. It mentioned someone who made a kit to use the ea82 set up and it then mounts on the opposite side of the engine. I thought if it came to me needing that set up I would get it and see about what was needed to get it to work. I don't like the idea of changing it to the other side but haven't really looked into it. Plus my other idea was finding another pump, maybe not even Subaru, and custom fabricating something to make it work. Hope this helps
  13. Hey thanks guys. It is either that or I found that you could find a Ea82 pump and convert over, but I should be able to find a seal like G.D. mentioned along with DaveT. Thx guys
  14. Hey guys just noticed I have a leak coming out the seal behind the pulley on the P.S. pump that is on my Ea-81. Anyone ever do this? Any info would be great. Thx
  15. Welcome to the site. Great bunch of Subie lovers and a bunch of info. I am always on getting answers to my problems.
  16. Hey guys, does anyone know where to go on line to order the electrical connector plugs? Some are round, some are square, different number of pins and so forth. What have you guys found? Thx
  17. The neutral switch is the furthest back switch, while the reverse is towards the front, for any who don't know.
  18. Maybe so. I was using a Fluke T5-1000 continuity ohm test. How should I test them?
  19. Okay, so I decided to do a continuity test with the tranny swithches and I am not getting nothing, in reverse or in neutral from either switch. I even have a extra 5 speed ej tranny out of a car and tested that, still nothing. Am I doing something wrong here?? How are the switches working if I can't get continuity??
  20. So hey guys, you helped me figure the two plugs off the tranny, reverse and neutral switch, and now maybe someone can help me identify which is which. Looking at the side of it, one is closer to the engine and one closer to the driveline. So does anyone know? I have found one pic in my manual that says one closest to engine is reverse? Is that right??? Thx guys
