  1. I just replaced mine with a used one. One side broke, and was stiff as heck. They should just slide out, some are tighter than others in my experience. Also make sure the lock bolt is loose/removed. Try heat and tapping on it to break it loose maybe? And from my exp/knowledge they can be clocked either way, but if I remember right lowering is limited vs raising.? Good luck.
  2. Looking for a bulb for the roof mounted spot lights. It's currently 24v but need new bulb in 12v. Is that all I would need, the bulb or any wire changed etc.? Thanks. Shipped to 99205.
  3. They thread into the cylinder heads. Helicoil is probly best bet, don't go to big. Go too deep and you'll see water/antifreeze come out of them... Good luck!
  4. Just tell her you had an accident... Happens a lot when I bring home new Bang Bangs. "Oh that, I've had it for along time..."
  5. Well does it run yet!? Sweet to see more people doing the ea81 build up instead of the ever popular ej swap..
  6. That would be cool, see what the 'ol ea81 puts out with the tires/lift and of course see it vs a stock ea81!! Is this an on going thing or a one time shot? I'm looking for an excuse to get out of town for a weekend and could possibly fit that into it!
  7. I'm on my wAy too! Didn't get off work til 840...
  8. I've been going out there for the last ten years, I know the place well. There can be some bad deep holes, guys with BIG trucks making ruts... For the most part I'm not into water and sand, but it's whats available locally... Hill climbs can test the soobs limits and at the least give us as drivers a big of a challenge. I climb and slide 12 ton machines up n down ski slopes do it takes more for me to get worked up, as opposed to some people. Anyways should be fun. It's a family deal so please be courteous, it's all in fun. And yes stock GL will be fine just be smart.
  9. Just what it says! I'm meeting another member from here and SSC. First time to meet another lifted GL driver. Saturday morning 8am feb 15 2014. Just thought I'd pass this along and see if anyone shows up... Here's to hoping!!
  10. I'm running 235/75/15LT, no complaints really, they tend to be a bit slippery in wet heavy snow... Typical though. Good tire for the price. Good info there too, thanks for sharing.
  11. 1983 Subaru GL 6" lift strut blocks and rear shock mounts by BOSS, the rest is homemade except for the rear diff drop support, replica of Lumpycams. EA81 with the works! Just about everything you can do with it... Ask if you want to know specifics, runs 9.2:1 compression. 5 speed dual range with ea82 clutch, pp and fw. Welded rear diff Rear discs and 6 lug. Alloys with 235/75/15 General Grabber AT2 GM/maxima alt swap Roof rack bars with a basket Front Subaru brush guard head light loop style and rear bumper with hitch Next mods; SPFI, roof mounted spotlight!
  12. I always buy exhaust gaskets for 1986 gl coupe ea81. When you ask for that at most parts stores the box comes with both sets of gaskets ea81 and ea82. I have a bunch of extra ea82 gaskets that I will never use... Other than that I've bought a sheet of high temp gasket material and traced a new gasket and cut it out.
  13. Hey all, I got a line on a 1983 brat I'm going to go look at on Friday. I know the normal suspect areas for rust, fender wells, rocker panels, under seats. I believe up around the strut tops too. I've been told it is in pretty dang good shape, but the motor has problems (don't run). But I expect something halfway simple. Asking 1200. I will take pics and post afterwards. What do you look for when looking to but a subaru? Thanks. Any input here is appreciated.
  14. Got them on! A little cutting with a grinder and a fair bit of hammering... They look good but do stick out more than my other rims and tires.
