  1. ill be home by 530 tomorrow (wed) sorry wasnt on the board all day
  2. I have one in tacoma you can have for a sixpack of hamms if you can get out here
  3. i had to shave my strut block on my 4"...its not a production kit
  4. great engine. i own several. its not fast and its not free of maintenance but its really easy to work on yourself with a pocket full of tools. ea81 is also a great engine, pushrods are awesome. as Scott said the ej22 is the cats a s s but requires dollars and brain cells to accomplish. in summation i will mention i just got a 86 gl with a stock carb and it blew the doors off my 88 spfi...it also has 300k on the block.
  5. i found i had to file the "humps" down to get clearance, i used a regular double cut rat tail. then i got out my dremel and spent 20 minutes on that. sorry for being a douche, i can relate to ineptitude in computer interface skills. i should not act so harshly, we've all been there. cheers, RV
  6. update, and huge sigh of relief, I got a call from my buddy who owns the car, he needs the dough and had to sell. so im mothballing all of thesae components for his future use (and my headache). the cool part is im selling my new dd instead and ill be rocking a nice little 86 wagon, fastest hitachi ive ever driven. (has some PIA paperwork) ill resurrect this thread when necessary. thanks for the pointers Gloyale
  7. cars in your name, you call em. i still need to pull the brake mc hvac stuff, and a couple other odd and ends for the stash
  8. touche. ill let you know when i realize how in over my head i am.
  9. oh ya...full disclosure.....Skylar needs a new ignition. some dumbas s put the wrong key in there. if ya got one let him or I know so i can buy it
  10. I have a 89 fsm to help me out, that said ill probably still need help. I pulled the whole gl10 harness today, not that hard, just tedious. now everything is pulled and ready. tear down on the recipient will happen this week. when the ea82t craps out the carbed one will go back in. fastest hitatchi ive ever seen. blew me up in my 88gl multiple times. like I said, everything about this is wrong, but its happening anyway. kinda like monsanto
  11. ya, i told him that. thing is the ea82t i have is a beast. today im pulling the dash and entire harness and ill finally be done with the rusty one. thankfully this wont be my first harness removal, fun part will be putting it back. and like i said, ive already been paid, so its goin down. I bet him he couldnt get a car off cl we were looking at, and well its my daily now so i have to buck up on my end.
  12. renob123 has the rallybrat..speaking of which, where have those two been lately?
  13. I should flame myself for even considering doing this let alone posting a thread about it or seeking help. *sigh* Lets begin; "The Motor" A mystery build 1986 ea82t putting out some good psi (but definitely less than the boost gauge says) and running a wrc tmic and 3" turbo back. turbo timer, bov, huge fartcan. great. how did i get this and why dont i know anything about it? long story short a buddy of mine (a member here) paid way too much for a lifted 86 gl10 full of nice parts...and some halfaresed ones coupled with terrible bad body rust where the xmembers mounted. "The Car" an 86 gl. it beautiful, has full original graphics on the side and my friend (who payed pennies for it) wont listen to me. hes already made me a deal i cant turn down and so its happening. The "plan"; Front harness swap, fuel system swap, coolant system swap. Leaving it on 13s. I encourage those with knowledge of ea82ts to be forthcoming with info, and those with discouragement to stifle the obvious. I have read that switching between carbed ea82s and turbos is pretty simple (assuming its already equipped to run an ea82t. Am I on the right track? Yes ill get pics. Thanx, RV
  14. *um I painted those lol. that thing is as happy as you are by the way it drives.
  15. NED is the only other soob ive seen that color, and its a gen 3
  16. https://sphotos-b-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/421424_10200752270792262_1837046744_n.jpg heres Whitey, our 86 wagon, i have every receipt from when it came off the boat in SanFran in 85 til 2008. Its a dealer option
  17. the amount of wiring hackage needed for an ej18 axnd an ej22 are exactly the same, only you go faster with the more abundant ej22. Personally, Id LOVE to run ej in my rig(s) i dont have the $1000 to $1500 start to finish to make that happen (yet). rebuilding an ea82 is caveman easy, like you can redurface your own heads http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/122588-diy-head-resurfacing-or-post-apocalyptic-machine-shop-techniques/. other than that make sure you have a torque wrench.
  18. next year is already scheduled. btw i have matters to discuss with you hit me up and its not a bad issue, its my wifes gparents(who raised her) 50th anniversary and gma aint doin awesome. i love those folks like my own so ill have to just whoop roast next year, no trunk needed.
  19. I dont recall "the guy" I got my 78 from stating he spliced doors. He said it used brat doors and jambs with a wagon body chopped a bunch (that parts obvious). truth be told when i saw it, the wiring was being done so i dunno how accurate my intel is but i have reason to suspect its dead on.... this guy knew more and built better stuff (ahem, liftkits you cant get anymore) than a lot of folks ive met.
  20. bnw is to nasioc as wcss is to third gen and older soobs....that said ive not made it there. ive seen lots of pics. I havea family conflict this year and wont be in attendance (again). i guess im sayin its worth it for me, but i live closer than you by a couple hours or so.
  21. its got brat doors and doorjambs. a member here worked on that car, i saw it at his place when picking up a gen 1 brat. seriously the coolest car ever...seemless up close.
  22. ya, we made sure everything is plugged back in, we even swapped out individual parts to make sure. the white wire from the black fusible link to the alternator was burnt at the tab in the box. im thinking the harness is smoke due to inadequate installation of the maxima alt. that said, its been working fine for some time now. It will crank, but no fuel pump or ecu happening (no blinks).
