  1. ok folks.......bumpin up the thread about thinking about goin on a cruise and not actually going on one.......... heres the "plan": saturday morning meet @ orting mcdonalds. Time? we'll figure that out if anybody actually wants to go with us yahoos. we're thinking about goin up above wilkeson, dirt roads, possibly a lil trail action. anybody down to get dusty?? RV
  2. thanx for the clutch picks......turns out AZ gave us the wrong kit. matches your ea81 kit perfectly (cept for the roller bearing?). this woulda worked for us.......if we had an 87 ea81 wagon (doesnt exhist). oh well, i shoulda gone not the new guy i guess. I digress............. back to work Tom
  3. waaaay awesome Nico. glad to see a project that involved get finished. needs a factory luggage rack on the decklid though, then itll drive upside down
  4. i second this, a recent addition to my ''cars that i fix'' fleet was bought for super filthy cheap......broke clutch fork (88 gl) runs like a whipped mini horse. that said, the only donor fork came off another recent addition and the cracks were evident, but not yet fatal. that cars getting a rebuilt motor then ill replace the fork. long story long.........lube that pivot with white lithium grease while you have the chance....but you prolly knew that. i digress....
  5. also, the 8model year has a one year only steering wheel. kinda like a cross between a gl and loyale. 86 gl shape, in two pieces, with loyale (ish) finish....if that makes sense....anyway theyre different
  6. smell the radiator, and overflow tank. smell exhaust(y)? hows the color? dark? also look at the underside of the oil filler cap, milkshake?
  7. run a search. itll tell you to go to the dealer and buy EVERY coolant hose for that thing. thats a good start, as overheating kills a great majority of ea82ts. lets see some pics!
  8. ummmm.....theres a few things wrong here. not that im offended, but spreading incorrectness is well, incorrect. first: the glass on my gl and loyale are the same except rear quarter glass. as far as glass and body (unless its a 85, different mirrors/glass) goes, its the same. exactly the same. second, where do ya get that 87s are bad? third, the 1-2 inch discrepancy you speak of has to do with adjustable struts in the front in older models and settling over time. in the rear it can be attributed to a 2wd model which has 2" lower spring perches (as it sits), and again, settling. forth: the re-vamped gl10 heads are turbo heads and have nothing to do with NA heads. there are however gen3 heads for NA motors that you can buy at the dealer but were never installed and sold in any showroom model. fifth: the gas mileage will not differ just because of the badge on the door or steering wheel. in short, its the same car. Loyales were subaru's way of using up all the EA parts they had leftover, think about it; legacys came out in 89, no reason to buy a gl loyale when theyre trying to sell legos.
  9. post a pic of the TOB would ya? one of my custys bought a "ea82" sachs from said store and im glad i checked w my alignment tool, it was not the right one by any means. nor was the TOB, didnt even look right. the clutch disc and pp bolted right up tho. Thanx, as always
  10. well that looks proper. and the rust made it so ya didnt have to trim as much. the wagon is coming along nicely:popcorn:
  11. with an ej swap youll have more power and more mpgs to boot
  12. i will say that the pistons pictured are not representative of stock ea82 spfi pistons.
  13. so, by the hubcaps ill assume youve got 13s on there. you have no lift?? ive got a 2" on mine but my susp is haggard gl10 sedan stuff (read wore out lower crap). i have accord springs in my garage already and some wagon strust too, how much lift (in inches..visually looks good) did you get? any modification to the springs required? what kind of spring compressors you usin (ive got harbor freight)? thanx, RV
  14. im glad you fixed that motherbucker...........(mods have mercy i felt it appropriate). so glad you didnt sell that thing. ill be heading to oly within the next week or two depending on wifeys awesome pay and crappy schedule.
  15. i have some, gotta find em. i forgot to mention that to get the pistons out after removing wrist pin you need to turn the piston 90* so the rod pushes it out. also, youre not done sanding yet, the indentions from the fire rings need to be completely gone. BACK TO WORK:Flame:
  16. just make sure you take extra coolant, oil, belts, and tools with you and you should be fine
  17. two weeks huh? you found this place quick! while your car doesnt have rear discs (yet?) at least it doesnt have a ea82t. plus you already have the weber. this car should serve you well.
  18. um, where did you get gl 10 from? that looks like a 87 gl to me. every gl10 ive ever seen, carb or not, had gl10 badges, rear disc brakes, and a turbo. furthermore, not nitpicking just asking, and that is my favorite soob color.
  19. i feel your pain (except we dont rust out here), when i bought the 88 for my wife i did all that plus radiator, egr/solenoid(s), engine harness, tires/wheels. now its boggy but i digress........ i do in fact love that car now so im sure youll love yours. good luck RV
  20. you dont have to split the case. there are 4 14mm plugs in the block. these are the wrist pin access holes. pull the circlip out of the front so you can get behind the pin and slide hammer them out. "but I dont have a slide hammer," you say. neither did i lol. i used a j bolt that i squished in a vice that barely fit in there. then i threaded a nut and washer on, clamped with vice grips and tapped it witha hammer til it came out. some "taps" were harder than others, and cussing is required when using this method, but hey, its cheap. if ya do this, make sure you keep each piston in line with its specific cylinder and right side up, or the ground will swallow you instantly and youll never be heard from again. RV
  21. oops, didnt catch the hitatchi part, no it wont have spfi pistons. they are out there tho, im pretty sure i even have some. have fun with your glass slab:popcorn:
  22. first of all dont use rtv on an oil pump. secondly, i always buy my oil pump gaskets at the dealer. its not that expensive and ive never heard of a problem with them. hth, RV
