  1. a gc8 is a gen1 impreza. it may be exclusive to the 2 door variety. wikipedia is very helpful. RV
  2. solder is always fun. also, swapping the face to one of the "trip computer" faces from the 80s is cool too RV
  3. ok, bone head question here so sorry if its offensive: you guys did plug the coil back in right? ive forgotten to once or twice. usually after a beer i figure it out RV
  4. resealed an oil pump and replaced the one on my "new" ea82 in the loyale. also seafoamed both cars. they both run better now, specially the carbed wagon. RV
  5. thanx gary, i was under the impression that i didnt have to use a helicoil if i drilled it out and used a tap. i suppose ill google it, i was just hpoing i could find some some ea82 exhaust stud specific tappage info. RV
  6. so both of my ea82 wags have a stripped exhaust stud on one side. what size tap do i need and what size bit to drill out the hole? PS no, i didnt strip them, one came with the motor i put in my loyale(thanx again, scott). and the other was partially stripped on my 86 but it has a little thread in the end of the hole. thanx folks, RV
  7. so i guess what we've found out is that these thing vary. alot. i just lucked out and have two that are similar. RV
  8. to clear up any confusion my light(s) do come on above the E. and to weather or not it actually has 2.4 gallons i dont know, thats just what the owners manual said. RV
  9. in the owners manual for my 86 wag and my 91 loyale wag it says you have 2.4 gallons left when the light comes on. my light (both of them) come on around 1/8 of a tank (2.4ish gallons). it sounds like either you dont have a light(unlikely but possible) or its malfunctioning. HTH RV
  10. 86. end o story. and for those interested not all loyales had wind deflectors stock. RV

*pats on back anyway* nice weld man RV
  12. if you dont want or cant afford a shop, i can do it for $200 (you buy parts). i like to pull the motor when i do it. its worth the work to me and i just did it a few weeks ago on my 91 loyale wag. servicing everything is a good idea, taking a motor out is not something you wanna do twice if you dont have to, and workin on that stuff in car isnt fun either. RV
  13. i have a 2" lift on my 91 loyale wag. 205/75/r15s required cutting in front of rear tires and behind (to move mudflap out of the way). the fenders also got a re-radius. im currently eating axles (they dont break, just boots explode, get clicky etc) and tires in front due in part to bad alignment and part because i didnt drop my xmember(geometry lesson) . i know people say you can get away with it, and you can, but this is the cost. im also pretty sure it can be done better than i did. imho if you dont wanna cut you should go taller to get 15s in there. good luck, *also there are two angled blocks and one straight block for the front facing stud for your lift* RV
  14. semi-off topic: so verdict? tie rods flipped good or bad?\ RV
  15. nice wagon man! ive got everything but the passport and michelin stuff for my 86 wag. second owner etc etc. way to go, now just get yourself a fullsize spare under the hood and youll be on your way RV
  16. ya man, sounds like you are pinging. play with the advance a little, try higher octane maybe. glad to hear you got it all together RV
  17. i dunno if it was one of us..... looks more like a NABISCO move to me RV
  18. my manual says the compression is the same. 9.5 to 1 for spfi and carb ea82. i just put a carb motor in my 91 spfi loyale, and converted it. this motor is better than the other one i had, leading me to believe my book. i had to change the egr pipe on the top of the head (the fasterners were different) and plug the egr ports on the exhaust ports. i left my intake and everything hooked up in the car and put a new longblock in. good luck, RV
  19. nic wag! nicer festy!!! man, i miss mine soo much. i had a 91 same color, honda killer. welcome RV
  20. have lotsa fun, guys. wish I could be there but my engine blew up yesterday so ill keep you in mind while im fixing it. tryin to get up to scott and get a motor. happy trails!! RV ps it still got me home:headbang:
  21. a loyale or gl may fair a little better but i dont think youll have too much trouble. RV
  22. if it goes loose again it will be an indication of a damaged hub from slopping around in there for so long. RV
  23. are cb radios required?? if so ill bring one but its not hooked up:rolleyes: RV
