  1. i usually slide the biggest flat screwdriver/prybar under it and lift. go around the wheel, like you are opening a paint can. good luck RV
  2. oh wow, i was unaware of the difference. thanx for the knowledge drop gloyale RV
  3. ya know, you really oughta swap out those '85 mirrors for some that are less sought after. id hate to see em get broke. nice rig man, RV
  4. also check you hubs to make sure this isnt the issue. denial didnt help me as one of them was stripped more in one spot than the rest. initially i thought it was ok, then i had to take it a part and fix it right. no harm in fixing everything tho. RV
  5. i think maybe this discussion would be more "apples to apples" if we were talking toy 4wd CARS (they have 4wd too ya know) vs subaru CARS. a truck is going to be easier to wheel than a car imho. that said i love my subies. RV
  6. just saw your post... if youre still bored next week ill make the trek from ptown. i need to have a brace welded in between my lift "tabs" in the rear of my loyale. that way itll quit slipping on the drivers side and making my car look/perform bad. maybe a little game of frisbee with our beer. RV
  7. thanx guys, like i said, i was 90% sure but you never know. then my light bulb crackled and sputtered to life legacy outback. Drrrr......... RV
  8. will a cv axle from a 96 lego work on on a 96 outback (pretty sure they do but i dont wanna mis-quote the custy) thanx RV
  9. try finding a product called "vynil off". i used it to de-stripe an rv that was sitting in the arizona sun for five plus years. the vynil was almost a part of the rig it was so bad. good luck. RV
  10. ok, have you popped the knuckle off the lower ball joint? do that then get out your favorite implement of persuasion, spread the pinch gap open a little and tap it off. good luck, RV
  11. wow man, thats a heck of a first post. welcome to usmb! i like the write up, esp. sizes of tools to use etc. whens the book coming out? keep em coming RV
  12. what you probably want to do is swap the engine/tranny/rear diff from the rolled car to the turbo. those turbo motors can be rebuilt but are a huge PITA when compared to the benefits of having them. a cheaper/better solution is a ej22 swap(legacy motor). if you just need a gas saver, stay simple. also the trannys are different ratio so swap the rear diff (or ring gear) as well. good luck and welcome RV
  13. its all about the PNW. time to get a one way plane ticket and drive one home:grin: RV
  14. you should be able to buy all of that stuff at a jy for under 200 bucks
  15. heres what i do when i break my 91 loyale. go to the local u pull yard and get knuckles off both sides(they already have bearings in them thatll work for awhile) get hubs/axles/everything off of the car with the least mileage. i abuse my car pretty regularly so i dont see the point in spending lots of $$$ on new stuff im gonna break anyway. also, myself and others have had more success with old used oem axles and a reboot(or not) than with aftermarket or remanned crap. good luck RV
  16. good call, i mustve been thinking ea82 while simultaneously not paying close enough attention. thanx for clearing that up RV
  17. the hose is most likely to be from the coolant overflow tank. the oil that is leaking, is it motor oil or trans fluid??? red=trans. RV
  18. thanx but not exactly..... im trying to swap spfi onto my cali carbed ea82 not ea81. RV
  19. usually i put a jack under the tie rod and jack it up nice and snug. this way the balljoint wont spin. then when its loose i let the jack down and "persuade(nicely)" it out. hope this helps RV
  20. muchas gracias abe. i saw that today at work but was hoping to find a more (how to say?) usmb style w/u. ill have to read up on that one in more depth. lets hook up soon...... RV
  21. as turbone says: 4wd is not awd, you have no center diff so if you are on dry pavement or have mismatched tires you run the risk of trashing your trans. i dont use 4wd unless i get stuck, then i get unstuck. get stuck in 4wd=stuck. welcome btw, RV
