  1. the lower the temp the better on these things. make sure it doesnt go too high. overheat=warped heads=$$$$$. not sure about CEL, never had to check mine(91 loyale wag).
  2. the fuel filter is next to the windshield wiper motor. in the engine bay, left side of the car, up by the windshield. its cylindrical. get a manual, youll need it. oh ya welcome aboard RV
  3. howdy, and welcome to the board. without any knowledge of your particular vehicle id say its either timing belts or a headgasket. EA82(the motor in your soob) have tendencies to go wrong sometimes and thats usually where. again, you didnt say what was wrong with it but theres an un-warranted stab in the dark RV
  4. also, since you just did tbelts make sure one wasnt loose and slipped a tooth. happened to my ea82. dunno if this helps but nobody said it RV
  5. no bigs man, just checkin on an old friend. lemme know if you need any thing

  9. so, sunday morning somebody bought wifeys 97 avalon i put on CL for giggles. we debated on getting a fixer-upper 93imp(thanx for the help today guys). I called this guy on this 86 gl and went to see it. I fell in love.............. apparently the guy has been out of town for the last few weeks and his wife put it on CL and he got like a hundred calls on it. he just got in this morning and this afternoon(after looking at the ad 5-6 times) i gave him a call. one other kid had seen it and called back in tears cuz his mom wouldnt buy it for him, saying " the first ************* to see that thing is gonna buy it." $950 factory chrome kit, 185000 miles carby, no ps. still has orig. bill from dealer and a folder FULL of receipts dating back to 86'. heres some pics: RV the rest and my 91 loyale http://s219.photobucket.com/albums/cc201/naomirford/roos/ added a few more of the goodies that came with!!
  10. ok read the update, what could be causing this problem?????(what tools to take w/me?
  11. im looking at a 93 imp wag. the guy said it sat for awhile, he replaced the fuel pump after it sat and he says it ran great for weeks. he said it started not firing under load. im thinking timing since this happened to my ea82 and i reset the timing and its purring now. im aware that old/dirty gas could be a problem. MAC and idler sensor replaced. im trying to go look at it this week and itll be my first "new" sube. so whats the deal folks? ***ok, so im going to look at it tonight. what would make the motor puke and die under load? fuel filter? more sensor fun? he said it hasnt had timing belts changed since he bought it 10 years ago. please respond so i can swoop a good deal(hopefully)**** RV
  12. oh, dont get me wrong, i was just trying to be comedic/sarcastic. there was no d-baggery percieved. carry on RV
  13. DUDE, ITS A FRANKENMOTOR!!!! POWER IS NOT T HE ISSUE!! EVEN IF YOUR HOPPED UP EA81 THINGY HOOKED UP W/ YOUR MODS HIS MOTOR WILL BREAK IT!!!! just sayin RV
  14. welcome home. stop looking elsewhere. actually keep looking so you can see why this is the only/best place to go. "ultimate" subaru message board RV
  15. welcome home this is the place to be as far as anything soob related. RV
  16. im sad i didnt make it but even wifey is clamoring to go next year. our daughter will be two and my loyale will be............well lets say better than stock. monstaru: i can read now and thank you for your hard guidance. i operate much the same way in my life. patience is a weakness, again looking forward to meeting you next year if not sooner. RV
  17. thats cool, turns out i just had a loose TB, ended up w/ a 88gl-10 parts car. i still may hit you up in the future for that car if i destry mine (its on its way). RV
  18. ****disclaimer**** if i were me or anyone else for that matter i would listen to the smarts of people like GD and turbone, theyve forgotten more about roos than ill prolly ever know. Luckily i havent ruined anything doing things the wrong way YET. a few well placed smacks are the way to go imo when not using a puller. do not go all gung ho smashing it till it lets go. RV ps much respect
  19. ya all of the steering wheels ive pulled are ea82(3 of em) they are really hard, but possible. ive bent a couple at PAP in half:lol: like i said: be a man, drink a beer and alternate wiggling side to side then up and down. a puller would have come in handy but then i wouldnt have had beer money RV
  20. damn, glad i didnt buy that car. i woulda broke it sooner, and worse im sure RV
  21. taking a steering wheel off does not require a puller. loosen the nut almost all the way but dont take it off(unless you wanna bust out your teeth) pull hard, wiggle, and have somebody hit the nut HARD while doing so. be a man, itll work. ive done this several times with no ill effects. RV
